Security and Networking / Zaurus as a Seurity tool
« on: January 29, 2004, 08:14:00 pm »
I took a look at those apps. The link on killefiz.de for Bing is down. I\'ll be putting up instruction soon on how to get Nmap 3.50-1 working.

Yes, Irongeek is around here.

Oh, I think I just found it. Since I installed to ram it was in /mnt/ram/usr/lib/ipkg/ .

Thanks,
Adrian

I looked there, but I only see lists of what was installed with the ROM, not stuff I added later.

I guess I\'ll just leave it off and give instructions on how to install it. Thanks.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Where to get libglib1.2 for OZ?
« on: January 26, 2004, 10:35:29 pm »
Anyone know where I can get libglib1.2 for OZ 3.3.6-pre1?

38
I know I can do a \"ipkg list\" to find out what is installed, but where is the file this is pulled from?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Opera 6 with OZ 3.3.6pre1

After installing the oz-compat libs I had to edit the opera.desktop file and put runcompat in the exec line. Heres what my opera.desktop file looks like:

[Desktop Entry]
Comment=The Opera 6.0 Web Browser
Exec=runcompat opera
Icon=opera.png
MimeType=text/html;application/x-shockwave-flash;application/pdf;application/x-x509-user-cert;application/x-x509-ca-cert;application/pkcs7-signature;application/pkcs7-mime;application/x-pem-file;application/x-pkcs12
MimeTypeIcons=opera;opera;opera;certificate;certificate;certificate;certificate;
ertificate;certificate
Type=Application
Name=Opera Browser
HidePrivilege=1
NeedSpace=9216

Can I put Opera in my distribution (not quite a custom ROM, more like a very big ipk) or will that be a copyright violation? I assume Sharp has licensed for every Zaurus made but I don’t know. I doubt many of you are lawyers, but any info would be nice.

I have yet to look at Nessus for the Zaurus. Is there a Nessus server for the Zaurus as well as a client? I would suspect with the amount of exploits it checks for you would have to install it to an SD card to get it to fit.

I’ve got the first version of my page describing how to get various security apps up and running on the Zaurus PDA. The URL is http://homepages.ius.edu/adrian/z/  Currently it covers the install (and some of the use ) of:

Wellenreiter II
Kismet
Ethereal
Ettercap
Nmap

Let me know what you think.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OpenZaurus 3.3.5 with Kismet and Wellenreiter II
« on: January 24, 2004, 04:58:31 pm »
Skip that Idea, I could not get it to work the 2nd time around. I Switched to 3.3.6-pre1-2.4.18-gcc3, Wellenreiter II just works out of the box then. By the way, with Open Zaurus 3.3.6-pre1-2.4.18-gcc3 you can use the Debian package of Ettercap 0.6.b-2 (found at http://packages.debian.org/unstable/net/ettercap). Just rename ettercap_0.6.b-2_arm.deb to ettercap_0.6.b-2_arm.ipk and use the commandline:

ipkg -force-depends -d ram install ettercap_0.6.b-2_arm.deb

Don\'t know if it sees anything, but I\'ll find out more when I get my 10/100BT card.
