Ubuntu / What Happens When Installing Over Pdaxrom?
« on: October 02, 2009, 01:04:39 am »
Well, I went ahead and tried, and no, it doesn't see the larger root partition. It treats the flash like the original partition configuration apparently. I guess it's hardcoded. I can mount them, and some of the file structure is there, but it's not working properly.

Anyway, I have Zubuntu running, but with lots of problems. I'll do some searching in the forum and see if I can't solve some of them.

Ubuntu / What Happens When Installing Over Pdaxrom?

I have pdaXrom on my C750 which I configured to use one large partition in internal memory (57mB). If I install the multiboot kernel, and then setup Zubuntu on SD card, what happens to that partition (/dev/mtdblock/2)? I mean, does the partition get deleted? Or, is it still there, with the pdaXrom file system (and could I just put the pdaxrom kernel in /boot and have that as a boot option)?

when I try to do a search for python, I get
[span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']
Precondition Failed[/span]

The precondition on the request for the URL /forums/index.php evaluated to false.

And I guess to clarify... I didn't see the mention of them selling support and I didn't see the source code available for download, so that's why I drew my conclusion. Also, I should have said GPL instead of Open Source.
I have no qualms with what Red Hat does and I think the Zaurus could use some more exposure, but as I said I didn't see this company doing what Red Hat does. (correct me if I'm wrong).

I don't see any mention of support either, but the source code for the GPL software is supposed to be included on the recovery DVD, which I guess can be used to recovery the SD card, so I don't think backups are needed.

180 pounds (sorry don't know keycode) (222 coming soon) does seem like an exorbitant amount for just makeing a "distribution" of free software.

Can you point me to some source code? I'm having trouble finding any spider solitaire game to even try to compile.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

The version I played is at [a href=\"http://perso.orange.fr/arnaud.brejeon/index.html]http://perso.orange.fr/arnaud.brejeon/index.html[/url] but that's not for X11 and no source anyway.

I've read that KPatience in KDE has Spider bundled in. And a version is part of the Debian distribution. And I found a few packages through rpmfind. http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.p....&system=&arch=

I saw that, but it didn't have a configure script, and using the command listed in the readme didn't work. Do you have any other source?

That's all I found other than java, tcl or python versions.

Speaking of python, actually, I'm more interested in Gnome-Python than Spider.

I rather miss the Spider solitaire I use to play on the stock rom.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Looking For Python Gnome Module

Hi,

Such apps are supposed to work with gnome-python.
Here is my package of gnome-python, which I compiled last month along the way (a bit frustratedly) to get gjots2 (a very nice outliner app) to work. But I didn't make it and had to give it up. See if it works for you. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.

I installed it to /mnt/card but I still got the error "ImportError: No module named gnome". So, I removed it and installed to flash and now it finds gnome apparently, but I get a new error, I think when it tries to initiate a window. I'm not real familiar with Python.

...in main gnome.init('mapview', '1.0')
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'init'

I'm trying to run the python program mapview and get the error

ImportError: No module named gnome

I've looked through the packages in the feed (beta1), and the filelist and can't find anything. Does this exist for pdaXrom?

Ok, I gave it a try. I just have the one partition, and things seem to work.

I did get the following showing up three times as it booted, which I didn't see before.

VFS: Disk change detected on device mmcd(60,1)
 mmcd/disc0/disc: p1
devfs_register(part1): could not append to parent, err: -17

I've googled for that but it didn't make a lot of sense to me.

Edit:So, I've found one post here that said it's normal to see such errors with SD cards. Well, I'm sure I saw no errors like that until after I switched to one large partition. But I've switched it back to two and now I still get the errors. I even restored a NAND backup from before, then redid pdaXrom and it still does it.

Opps.. forgot... sorry... 64mb does sucks... but I'm assuming the limit is around the high 50s...

Yeah, I guess it's that 57MB number. And 64 isn't so bad. More would be nice, but I used to have a lot of apps loaded on my SD card. It's slower, but still usable.

So, using the "Fix loader" menu option will let me use all of the space for root, and this will work on the 750, even thought it says 760 and up?

Aslong as your root partion isnt' 121mb then you will have a /home partition...

I use a 85mb root size... to fit all my apps into root space... well in beta3... beta4 and up... You dont really have a choice...

121 MB would be great

But I only have the C750.
