Thanks for the tip Omicron, but I've disasembled and cleaned the heck out of it.  I'm willing to bet that my bricked c760's insides are the cleanest out there

I'm guessing there is a short in the board.  The spilled happened right before I had to leave for work, so I didn't have much time to act. (I found some black residue while cleaning the insides out with a q-tip, furthers my therory that something got fried).

My biggest mistake was not removing the battery after it happened.  I simply wiped the keyboard down and put it in suspend.  I thought about it after I got to work, by then it was to late to act.  I'm sure if I would have removed the battery things would have been different.

My wife bricked my c760 (spilled a full glass of coke on it, I cried)

Using pdaxrom for so long, I'm having a hard time appreciating qtopia.  Sure the switch to a pocketpc pda isn't going to help my withdrawls, but having something new to play with is good enough for me while I wait a few months to replace my c760.

Looking for a pocketpc with similar hardware specs as the 5600.

Built in keypad is not important.  I've gotten where I perfer the handwritting recongizer anyway.

So if you know anybody with a pocketpc that loves your zaurus, please let them know about me...

I'll preinstall any rom and any apps that are available.

PXA 255
128mb SD card (formatted to ext2)
WCF12 WiFi card.  (802.11b)
Sharp camera card.

I've had a brando screen protector on the screen since about a week after I bought it 9 months ago.  I honestly can not remember if there are any scratches on it or not.  If I get any serious offers I will pull the screen protector off and check if requested.

I can't think of anything else I can tell you about this.  Never been over clocked, lightly used.  It is really in great shape.

Make sure you set all of your options in the Camera app.  Even if you think they are already set by default, set them again.

Convenient news a day after I permently bricked my c760.

If nothing else, maybe this will lower the price of the c7/860.

amrein's got the right idea...

You aren't going to see allot of user submitted ipks until the final version of the rom/sdk is out.  So many changes are being made to the rom right now that it would be a waste of time.

These guys are doing amazing things with the rom right now.  It is great that the development is as heavy as it is.  Let them continue working on the rom and use RC3 if you want to use most of the apps in the unstable feed.
amrein got it all wrong. The development is infinite. It is over only when the project itself is dead. So, do you suggest waiting for its death? Sure, in the end, life is just a waste of time. Just don't waste it before it's over!

I say, do not use RC3. Switch to RC5. Help the developers by using what they produce, loot for the bugs, make suggestions as you see it.

You are going to see alot of user submitted ipks. And the RC3 unstable is no more.
Wow, you really put me in my place

And you are absolutely right.  We should encourage this type of participation, not discourage it.  It is certainly not a waste of time as I posted earlier.

I was speaking from a personal position and should have just kept my mouth shut    Working swing shifts and raising a family my free time is VERY short and will be able to compile much more efficiently once things become more concrete.

My apologies to the pdaxrom team!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / XScreensaver 4.15

I've installed this on RC3 and it runs w/o any problem.

I was getting the same error lardman was though, but after about an hour of googling I found the solution...

In .xinitrc , insert the following line BEFORE the line that you added to start xscreensaver:

Code: [Select]
xhost +local: &

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / xqt installation?
« on: September 27, 2004, 06:55:52 pm »
Has anybody been able to install xqt on oz 3.5.1 (opie)?

I read a recent post saying that lardman posted some steps a while back, but I am unable to find it.

I've installed the packages and moved the files in /home/zaurus to /root.  I've also made sure that /opt/QtPalmtop/bin was in my PATH.  I've link Xqt to X.

Not really sure what is going wrong...

X11 is included in the current release.. but over nfs it is unbarable to use.

I'm wanting to get one of those 4gb microdrives and install it on that.

copy/pasted from another site:

Go to "View" > "Character coding" and choose "Customize" : click on each language you want (left) and click on "Add". Click "Ok" once done. Try surfing on asian pages again.

If Firefox isn't showing the proper characters (on a Japanese page), then go back to "View" > "Character coding" and choose "Auto Detect" : click on "Japanese" (if that's the one you use most).
