Software / Problem with qinstall

Check out the kernel patch in the Zug Downloads section...

This is the standard Sharp SL-5600 kernel with the Linux kernel pre-emptive patch applied which almost doubles the responsiveness of the 5600. The workaround for the XScale PXA-250 cache errata (a bug in the CPU) has also been turn off, which gives a small speed increase. All this makes applications load much faster and allows you to do things like play 320x240 DivX video at a decent frame rate. The Wireless Extensions patch has also been applied.

I\'ve tried the overclocking kernel, but I could feel the back of my zaurus getting warmer while using it (it may have been in my head).

The second one listed is the one I installed.

I got one a couple weeks back and it has the PXA-255.  They ship pretty quick too... I used the express shipping and got mine in 3 days.  There is no trick to finding them on HSN... you just have to keep checking back.  These suckas sell quick!

What I posted above also fixes the problem with the tkcrom and qswap/memory applet not being able to create/activate a swapfile on a SD card.

Now the only problem I have is using the memory applet with the rotation plugin.  It seems to lock up when I try to rotate when the applet is enabled.  Very strange considering that the same guy wrote both packages.  If I uninstall the applet the rotation works fine.  Zynergy5600 has the same problem.

Thats not a real problem though.  I just installed qswap instead and check the memory with the sysinfo.

Otherwise, I am very happy with this rom.  I\'m using it with the \'special\' patched kernel w/o any problems.
