Ubuntu / Zubuntu 2.0 Released
« on: August 29, 2009, 05:38:17 pm »
Redid the whole installation, kept the nano and rcconf debs seperate and copied the various conf's I changed to a ext3 cf card.

Just won't apt-get upgrade till its confirmed safe

PS Alsa error was again on the first boot, but gone on the second.

Alsa error seemed to go away after first boot.

Looking into the apt error, seems the powerpc folks had a similar issue link
seems to be related to a bad libstdc++6 file, this is one of the files upgraded when I did the apt-get upgrade.

Ah, btw this is all running on a SL-C1000 Akita, not a spitz.

No nano on default install -gasp-, aslactrl errors on boot too.  Playing more ...

Configured network with usual annoyances [not nearly so annoying with andromedia ... curious why the differences?]

apt-get install nano
Segmentation faulty tree... 0%

numerous apt-get updates fixed this one, apt-get upgrade lead to apt death.  While updateing it errored out on aqualung ... then from that point on apt-get anything gets Illegal Instructions, even by its self.
Continuing to fiddle.

Not seen this one before.

Got sound now, not all of them need to be [OO].  Anyhows been testing WM's in zUbuntu.

KDE is now as of version 4.2 WAY to heavy for the Z, very pretty but bogging all the time.
XFCE4 installs well and for the most part performs at a speed where its usable without too many compromises.
IceWm of course the default runs smooth and with the provided themes, is even palatable to the eye.
The usual speed's and issues from Blackbox, Flux and Openbox.

On too test full on Gnome

Got my troublesome wifi card working and running xfce4 atm.  Good job on the distro and thanks.  It seems to have less broken packages than the present armel of debian too.  Kde for instance is not broken.

I switched the mouse key references in xkeybindrc so the fn tap is right click.

No Sound still, all channels are [00] ... all I get from the speakers is a loud buzzing and then when the song stops it stops.  This will be a deal breaker for me, like the distro but I dinna have nearly these issues getting sound working in andro debian.  Volume is all the way up too, all mixers enabled.

For Sale / Wanted / Wtt - Htc Universal For 3100 Or 3200 Z
« on: August 16, 2009, 02:29:49 pm »
I have an extra O2 Universal Clamshell PDA Phone, its in great condition but has become unnecessary for me to keep.

Willing to trade it for either a N810 Nokia or SL-3100 [SL-3200] in nice condition too.  The phones unlocked and works
on all gsm networks.  Can post or pm pictures of it.  I am willing to flash it too either factory, a version of WM 6, 6.1 or
for the daring WM 6.5

Comes with power cable, stylus, case, battery {cover too} and sync cable.  Will toss a 2gb sd card in it too.  All versions
of WM after 6.0 do support SDHC cards and the unit has been tested with up too a 16GB SDHC card in it.

PM me if interested with an offer.

For 265 us why not just buy an Eeepc?  The specs on the Letux sight look very close to those of the 2G Eeepc.

Debian / Running Kde 3.5

Oh I have played with some combos of Wm, Desktop Managers and such

Openbox + Fbpanel
Fluxbox + Fbpanel
Fluxbox Standalone
etc ... the list goes on.  Most involved removeing the slow filemanager / desktop managers.  Thunar, Nautilus etc...

Oh lxde is VERY fast, just too lite for me.  Near perfect for the Z though.  Just not a fan.

Fluxbox is also extremely responsive, as it Ice and Openbox.

Cannot seem to resolve my CF Wifi cards issue, it just blinks.  Forced into static mode just to get past the "Can't get addrlist" error, which is no small bit annoying, in fact with multiple ip ranges I work with as I go from place to place it's almost a bust.  Have manually edited the interface file, issued the same iwconfig's that worked in every other debian install etc ... still no love.  Works fine in Andromedia

No default way to measure battery life, needs to be fixed for a release (fine for in house).  Apm cli is present in Andromedia by default, figured it or something akin would be in this.

Right Mouse configuration seems to be very limited compared to the "mouse-r & mouse-m" method.

Working on a list of other things, pretty much does not feel "ready for release" too me yet.  Just my opinion, great work and I look forward to the end results.

Sound still hit or miss, mostly miss.  This is another BIG issue too me, and bears weight when comparing to Andromedia.

I have an 8gb card holding this for further tests, but atm its not ready to replace Andromedia on my rig.
