Given the recent update and PC history on the prior devices and Astro, I'm amending my previous guess (in post up above)....

I now assume that I might see my Astro in February....hopefully, latest date will be March....

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Re: Flickering Screen ON New Cosmo
« on: November 28, 2021, 12:58:18 am »
Hi,

Welcome to the Cosmo club....

Sorry to hear you have screen problem.

I have not had this problem on my Cosmo that I have had for 1.5 years or so.

I would contact Planet Computer and report the problem and ask for their support.

Did you buy this as new Cosmo or used one?

Based upon PC's update today, that production should start after the Chinese holidays, so about October 10th....

I guessing we'll be lucky to see our Astro's by Christmas....and might be after New Year........

So it goes.....

 :D

Sorry to hear that it didn't help.

Did PC offer to repair it if you were to send it to them?

What was PC's response?

Best,

This is an interesting thread. I thought my Cosmo battery was worn-out (ordered a new one but it never showed up), but I'm not getting the drain cited here.

I run Linux-only and I've disabled CODI and I get 10 days or so of down-time before the battery drains out.

Other than a disabled CODI, my internal wifi/bt doesn't work, so that may have something to do with it, too.

Have similar experience....use mixture of linux and android, CODI always off, BT off, get around 10 days....before need to charge again....

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Re: Gemini keyboard self-destruction
« on: August 06, 2021, 09:19:50 pm »
Sorry to hear about your keyboard troubles......

Seems very likely the isopropylalcohol did something to the keys underneath them...Assume it was the vapors from it evaporating.....

While you could use superglue, I would probably try some other glue first, maybe a bit of rubber cement? or some other glue that would hold the key on, but allow you to pop off a key if you needed to in future.

Would assume that superglue would be a very permanent solution such that trying to remove a key that was glued would likely break the plastic.

Maybe worth an email to Planet to hear what they recommend?

Let us know how it goes......

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Re: Can't Turn On Mobile Data

Hi gymbo,

Thank you for your help!

Think problem must have been some issue with settings getting changed...

I found a setting that did not seem right. Changed it back to what I thought was correct and Voila! I could turn on mobile data again!

Very cool!

How do you like UB Ports vs the other linux options available to us?

Mark

UB Ports is a good operating system. The interface is very good. Usability too. It's very polished. But Debian for me is better: much more apps and more versatile. But I must admit I use Android most of the time, because the camera works with all apps and I can also use my banking app. Android is also based on Linux.

Thank you for your comments. Very helpful.

Maybe we will see our Astros in August?....

Frankly, not a chance.

They *might* get production going in September, deliveries in Oct-Nov.

Oh well.....you're probably right.....

We shall see....
