Cxx0 General discussions / gcc compliler on Z C7xx
« on: March 18, 2004, 10:49:18 am »
Thanks for the suggestion maslovsky!

Tried rebooting.

Then redid Step 2.

Then redid Step 4, typed \'gcc\' in Terminal and voila!

It says, \"gcc: No input files\" !

So to clarify, the procedure for each time I want to use dev_img-1.4 is to do Step 2 in your instructions right?

Thanks!

Mark

OK, tried stupkid\'s suggestion for path using zbones suggestion for using tkcEditor as root.....

According to Step 4 in instructions you should \"type \'gcc\' in console (I used Terminal on my C860). If you get \"no input files\" message, you\'re all set.\"

After typing \"gcc\", I get \"gcc: not found\"....

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Hi Maslovsky (or others),

Thanks for your post regarding your dev_img-1.4 file.

I downloaded the file from this site and have tried following your instructions to install this on my C860.

All went well till Step 3 \"Add path to /home/zaurus/develop/bin not your PATH\".....

When I tried to edit the \"qpe.sh\" file in tkcEditor, it wouldn\'t let me save the changes to the file. I checked and saw that the ownership of the file is root.

So could you (or anyone else) please tell me what is the easiest way to edit this file?

Also, could you please clarify in your example:

\"export PATH=existing_path_here:/home/zaurus/develop/bin\"

Do you mean that I should insert this line in the list of \"export PATH=xxxx\" lines?

Also, where you show \"existing_path_here\" in that line, what path are you referring to?

Thanks for any help!!

Mac Issues / Poll: Which Zaurus model do you use with your Mac?
« on: March 16, 2004, 03:45:59 pm »
Hi,

Been using Macs since \'86!

Sometimes use PC too but Macs have been my primary computer since \'86.

In the past 2 years have dabbled a bit with Linux which in turn got me interested enough to buy a C760 last summer.

Recently got a C860.

Have easily shared files with Mac/OSX using Go>Connect to Server. Think I had to install some free OSX software to do this.

Wish there was full OSX<->Zaurus sync capability for C7/8xx series.

Anyway, think the Z\'s are great!

General Discussion / Better to Leave Z Connected to AC Power?
« on: March 07, 2004, 10:18:06 am »
Hi,

Have a C860 but assume this question would apply to everyone with a Z.

When it\'s convenient and available, is it better to

A) keep your Z connected to AC power or

leave it disconnected and only connect it when the battery shows a low reading?

Thanks for any tips!

Here\'s the link for that page:

http://www.myzaurus.com/ROMupdate6.asp

Scroll down to the bottom and you will see that it\'s the first one listed (of three) under the heading \'Downloads\'.

As for Notes, haven\'t tried it...actually have other issues with trying to sync my Z at work...need to get new computer w/new OS before I\'ll be able to try syncing at work....

Ashu,

Here\'s the page:

http://www.sharpusa.com/zaurus/dev/0,2354,,00.html

There\'s several files to choose from...

Here\'s the one I used:

560v132u.zip File: Download (.zip  21M)
This zip file contains the PC application and Zaurus OS update files  to update the Zaurus OS.

As for Lotus Notes. I think there\'s an app that will sync with it....

Check on the various Zaurus software sites such as:

http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/

If you find one, post it here as I use Lotus Notes at work and would be useful for me too.

Hi,

I just got a C860 from him too....

Very good to deal with.

Would have bought again from Brett at Conics, but he was out of town when I emailed him to order...

General Discussion / Zaurus.com site changes

Thanks offroadgeek for doing this for everyone!

It\'s a great resource for all.

However, wish I could get some more of last years devnet posts. Especially some of the thread in the development section. There was some really helpful info there.... :?

Think there\'s anyway or a contact at Sharp to get access to some of the last years posts??

OK, got it fixed....

Went back and checked PC Link settings on Z...somehow it defaulted back to \"USB-I/O (default)\" instead of staying on \"USB-TCP/IP (advanced)\" setting.

Once I changed it back to \"USB-TCP/IP (advanced)\" setting, apps worked fine.

Well, maybe my posts will at least save someone else some aggravation!

Hi,

Finally got my new C860 to sync with my PC (see other recent post)....works OK now...

However, when I try using the other Zaurus app on my PC, Zaurus File Transfer , I get error message that says:

\"Zaurus File Transfer

An error occurred during communication.

Please remove the zaurus from the docking station or serial cable and reconnect. Please verify that the PC Link application settings on the Zaurus match the Zaurus Manager settings on the PC.\"

Similar thing happens when I try using Backup and Restore app on my PC.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

OK, finally got it to sync!

Just changed setting on Z]PC Link to Connection: USB - TCP/IP (advanced) and did the same in Zaurus Manager on PC and voila!

Started syncing!

Still hope someone can advise...

But in the meantime...

Have a strong suspicion this has something to do with USB Network Driver install...maybe wrong but since this seems to be a communication error situation...

Could someone advise as to what USB Driver components are installed on their PC?

Thanks!

Anxiously Hoping to Sync New C860!  :?

1785
Hi,

Would greatly appreciate some help...

Just got my new C860.

Trying to sync it with my Fujitsu 5020D laptop with WinXP Pro and MS Outlook.

Have installed the Zaurus software on my laptop using the SL-5600 download file from Sharp.

Everything seems to be setup OK....

-Set prefs in Sync Options

-Checked PC Link settings on Z and they match those on PC in Zaurus
 Manager (V3.1)

Here\'s the settings:

   PC Link Setting
   USB IP: 192.168.129.201
   Connection: USB - I/O (default)

When I try to sync, I get the following error message on my laptop:

\"Intellisync for Zaurus:

An error occurred while trying to connect to the Zaurus. Please remove the Zaurus from the cradle or serial cable and reconnect. Wait approximately 30 seconds before initializing the synchronization.

Please verify the PC Link application settings on the Zaurus match the Zaurus Manager on the PC.\"

Any suggestions???

Wonder if it\'s related to USB Driver?

Tried disconnect and reconnect several times but no go...

Thanks!

Mark
