Hi,

Unfortunately, I doubt it, unless you know a lot about programming and even then may not work.

You should check the forum for posts about which cards are known to work.

Been awhile since I had a Zaurus, but think other issue you'll run into even with a Prism2 card is network security and whether it will work with WPA. Check that in posts too.

Best,

Mark

The Kohjinsha SC is now SOLD!

Let me know if you're interested in any of the remaining devices.

Any laptops that are not sold soon, will get post over at the bay.....so, act now...

Thanks,

Mark

FWIW, I replaced the microdrives in my Zaurii with CF cards.

Much better and larger storage capacity.

Good question.....

I have very limited knowledge of coding, but I'm guessing that for someone that is very knowledge and skilled it would not be too difficult. Think issue would likely be more about what amount of time and energy do they have to devote to doing the work needed and resolves issues as they arise.

Would be great if someone would do it.

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Re: Why does Planet use Mediatek CPU?
« on: February 01, 2021, 12:56:43 pm »
As I recall, Janko, PC, said in video that their Chinese fabricator, has contract with Mediatek.

This is due to the low volume production of this company as well as Planet.

There would need to be much higher production volume for them to use Qualcomm or other such vendors.

Know what you mean......

Being here in Silicon Valley, I used to go to monthly Palm User Group meetings over at Palm's headquarters....

Along with other meetings like Silicon Valley Mac Users Group.....

And had fun with my Amiga......

And before that my trusty ol' 486.....

Yep, those were the days...

Last I checked Taiwan is not part of China. The ROC government relocated to Taiwan in 1949 while fighting a civil war with the Chinese Communist Party. Since then, the ROC has continued to exercise effective jurisdiction over the main island of Taiwan and a number of outlying islands, leaving Taiwan and China each under the rule of a different government. So when I asked about the Ban on China getting semiconductor chips that was going into effect on November 15, 2020 I was told MediaTek was in Taiwan so it would not be a problem. The reason why PC can not get the Dimensity 1000 (MT6889) or the Dimensity 1000+ is because MediaTEk is banned from sending it to China.

Agree, that Taiwan is not part of China....at least as of now.

Sorry, for the mistake, I just repeated what I remembered reading by someone posting....

In the end, the point is same, Planet cannot obtain the Dimensity 1000.

It is not a decision by Planet, but by MediaTek.

Apparently, MediaTek decided to only release the Dimensity 1000 for use on devices for the Chinese market.

« on: January 11, 2021, 01:30:03 pm »
Per Astro update today, screen size is now a tiny bit smaller. It's now 6.39 inch.

They did change spec to 'Gorilla Glass'.

So it goes.

Yes, was a disappointing surprise to read the update.

They did up the RAM to 8GB though.

Greetings!

I'm new to the group so please bear with me if this is widely known/understood.

I was keenly interested in getting he keyboard backlight to work in Cosmo Linux Firmware V3, I asked the support at Planet Computers if there was any way to turn the Keyboard Backlight on, turns out there is (the response from the Planet Computers support folks follows:

In Linux you can adjust the keyboard backlight from the command line.

The following command will work:

“echo X > /proc/aw9524_led_proc”

Where X range from 40 (no light) to 45 (light intensity max).

Again if this is old news my sincere apologies, I hadn't come across the above info before and wanted to share it.

Think if you read enough posts on the Cosmo forum, you will see that this is an issue for some people.

Some people notice it happening more than others.
