C1000/3x00 General discussions / Sl-cxx00 Batteries Cheap !

People were looking for inexpensive batteries for their clamshell Zaurii. Here's a deal:

Props. Thanks. I actually just spent about $30 on this exact one and thought that was a great deal. Note: you will have to shave off a bit to get the connectors to touch properly as discussed elsewhere in the forum. Totally worth it, as the stock max battery was 1800mah. I have had mine on standby...for TEN DAYS and still had power.

Here's my vote to get this released even in a buggy state!

On the GPS front, I have a Holux GR-213 receiver ("Super mini size!"). It works out-of-the-box (almost) with Angstrom and Debian (just modprobe some module or other, and you're set). I got it at Amazon, but they don't have it anymore.

Any GPS with a SirfStar III chipset should work pretty painlessly, IIRC. See this thread:

Looks good, I'll be getting one this month. You're the champ, thanks for your responses, always appreciated, Capn!

Fantastic news, ISO! By reading the notes over the course of this year, I could tell it was only a matter of time before pdaxrom development ramped up again when you were out of the weeds in your job.

It installs FVWM-Crystal.

FVWM-Crystal is a WM, based off of FVWM (just go to images.google.com for screenshots). It has a good deal of eye-candy, hence it looking impressive.
Thanks - yea, that looks nice.

I just got my Zaurus!
Debian is moving forward all the time
Zaurus is among first real hardware to run Android

Zaurus has a bright future moving forward. This is due to the great work that has been accomplished over the past couple of years where users have been working with zaurus, establishing a large knowledge base, and overcoming the basic obstacles of the hardware. Now that the price of a zaurus is reasonable, and the base groundwork has been laid out, we should continue to see more interesting and useful applications of/for zaurus.

I would very much appreciate hearing the regiment of zaurus use that stupkid, adf, the oak, and others have. What primary tasks do you accomplish with your z?

cheers -es

Hey everyone,
I am pleased to say my 3100 is shaping up nicely with PDAXii on it.
As a new user just getting started with Zaurus this year, I see some are selling their units (actually that's how I just bought one   ) and I would love to get a shot at some nice accessories.

I swear it seemed I could get the Pilot Pentopia 3-in-1 Extensible Stylus at a few places online just a month or so ago, but now I can't find them anywhere! I may be mistaken, though. If anyone can help find this or any other upgrade stylus (non-sharp) I appreciate it.

I contacted that eBay UK seller who had several Socket Bluetooth Adapters recently and he has no more available. Any help on this would also be great.

I also just moved to DC and am in the market for a pocketable GPS device. It would be great if I could just use my Z for that too. Any GPS leads?

Other than that, I would love to see other cool accessories!

Ciao- Es

I hope that everyone is doing well as well. I'm just getting started with PDAXII and find Meanie's work incredible.

Is it the all black or the part white version? (I'm assuming all black, but hoping it's the white one...)

Nice deal, kudos, wish I got in on it!

might be worth contacting that seller to see if they have any more coming?
It would be great if you could post the model # or eBay item # link so I can request the proper one.

I am still deciding whether to try and put debian on my 3100 from scratch - this sounded great and I hope zdevil still puts something out...

I've had quite an interesting experience getting started with the C3100. I've gained much from all of the community--especially the members of this site and forum. I hope everyone is making it through this crazy life with triumph.

My awesome all black c3100 basically sat as a $400 paperweight for the whole month of April, not having a chance to get an OS onto it. (Came with debian and I'll post on how a GDM flag setting made it unbootable for me).

Tonight, I finally am in, completing my first ROM install with PDAxII13, and it is tight as hell. I'm really happy to finally have this working and it's awesome.

I finally am able to use this in a few of the ways I was hoping to, making the unit already exceed its value with the applications bundled in the Full distro. One in particular is xjournal which is one of the best pieces of software I have ever used on a handheld. I take notes and draw on little scraps of paper all the time and never have had the use of any stylus/pen unit before (save for a Wacom Intuos2 9x12). I basically blew my college wad on the "first ever 17-inch notebook" (1Ghz G4 Powerbook, $3300 at the time, ouch) and never had a pda of any sort despite keeping up on the latest palms, winmobiles, iPh(cl)ones. The unencumbered customization is most attractive in the zaurus, making it the choice.

My initial two problems to remedy are inability to function after waking from sleep and asking for the date and panel managers every bootup. Leads me to believe that there is a dead "cmos" battery I suspect is on the top of the unit behind that soft rubber slot I haven't poked out. "...soft rubber slot I haven't poked out..." Noyce.

I'll be busy figuring the zaurus out, very happy to have it up and running.
Cheers, -es

More useful knowledge - thanks Jon_J, appreciate it. Actually I didn't know that pdaxii13 was a derivative/refinement of pdaxrom beta 3, so thanks for making that clear for me. I would love to have Cacko on my Z as well, and from what I've read, it sounds like it's possible to have that and Debian together, but I likely won't risk anything right away that could disable basic usefulness. I originally thought it was bizarre that people would have different Zs for diff distros, but the multiboot situation does seem to be a bit difficult and confusing at least in my preliminary skimming on the subject.
