Zaurus - pdaXrom / Missing Links?

I'm not entirely sure. I'd wait until kkazakov13 can answer, or PM him directly.

Also, im beginning to notice something VERY wierd..... keyboard, key pad and touch screen operation suddenly stops working after a few mins or so of inactivity, I even left it plugged in, wifi off, running only top ... Top kept running along and would update, and the clock in x would keep going all the while no response when I press anything on the pda.

Here we go... but before you read the rest here is a question... would this error mean i need to reinstall GTK also?

(mb-applet-volume:3514): Gdk-WARNING **: Error converting from UTF-8 to STRING: Could not open converter from 'UTF-8' to 'ISO-8859-1'

am i correct?  I need to remove Gdk and reinstall? or what else would I do?

Now, after doing this upgrade to the lib you told me to upgrade... I am now missing fonts in X. does this mean I have to reinstall X also?  I am missing the iso font and i get an error that it can not convert from utf to iso  I'll post the exact error in a second.

mb-applet-volume: relocation error: /usr/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_once_init_enter_impl

Reinstall newer (lib)glib(2) package. You need to update libglib-2.0.so.0 library. But I cannot guarantee, that it will need more updates. Hopefully, glib2 is backward compatible for both API and ABI, so you should not break anything.

Yes sir! that fixed it! Gratz to you! +karma .... if there was any.

Edit: After doing this update for libglib-2.0.so.0 library.... all of the x windows boxes are no longer titled with the app name... it just says "untitled window

After using some new feeds i found to install that pango/cairo file I was missing.  I added some new packages to my zaurus and now I can not exit x11, I can not run the blank screen app for x, I can not even pull up the sound icon anymore.  When i try  to run the sound app or any new apps or even some previously working apps I am now getting an error referring to the same pango file AGAIN! here is my exact error:

#mb-applet-volume
mb-applet-volume: relocation error: /usr/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_once_init_enter_impl

I get this exact same issue when running any new app or running this speaker app.  What would cause this error and how can I fix it? I would hate to start all over again with reinstalling pdaXrom but if I have to, which version should I install for my Zaurus?  (model in my sig)

I am running Kathrin and need libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 built.  Does someone have this ipkg already? or if not what distro could i use it from? Im not sure what pdaXrom is based on.

Check in /usr/lib and see if there's a "libpangocairo.so.x.x.x," then try linking it to libpangocairo-1.0.so.0

Its not in that directory, nor when i attempt updatedb and then locate libpangocairo do I find anything

Just remember that my feed is mostly built on pdaX r198, so things may not work well or at all under Beta 1.

Have you checked other feeds for it? I possibly got a package from one of them (or the pdaX main feed).

EDIT: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distri....0_armv5tel.ipk

Beta 1 Pango IPK

Thanks for the beta 1 feed link, I added that to my feeds list.  However, upgrading from 1.9 to 1.10 on pango did not get rid of the error message, I will try gaim instead and see how that works out.  Is there an IRC channel for this project? I did not find one in freenode for pdaxrom .. prehaps one should be opened?

Edit :
libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 is still requested by the new packages it seems.... I'll see if I can find it.... not sure where though.

I don't know if the 6000 uses HostAP, but you could try using "hostap" or "orinoco" as the source type.

Ok thanks man, Oh and I got it working, using a how to i found for the SL-6kL and now the wifi works great.  I saw you had a feed up... and working too.. but one problem with it, I added pidgin and i can't run it as i need a lib thats not listed in your feed. could you add libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 ? or am i not configuring it right?

what settings would i use for a SL-6000L ? I tried the example :

source=prism2,wlan0,prismwsource,2

and just got an error:

Hi, and welcome to pdaXrom, I am also a user on the SL-6000...

I'm not sure what's going on with your inability to login after a reboot
or suspend.  I always set a password on the root account immediately
after flashing pdaXrom, and I've never had that issue.  As far as suspending,
if you had a WIFI network connection, the machine will most likely freeze on
a resume.  It might look like it is "off", since the backlight won't come on.
I modified the suspend script to shutdown WIFI, which "solves" that issue.

Yes, I agree that would be very nice to provide an updated ROM with some
of the issues like suspend, WIFI, rotation, addressed.  It appears that the
development resources are very limited, and the SL-6000 is not as common,
and I don't even know if the current developers possess one.  I remember
a long time ago, I provided ssh inbound capability to Sashz, so he could
diagnose and address the microphone support issue.  As I recall it was a matter
of minutes for him to figure out, and correct what was wrong!

I am away from my notes at the moment, but I keep wanting to put them online
somewhere, and/or even offer a tarball of all the files I modified to get a rock-solid
and predicatble LINUX running.  Yes, it's a little frustrating at first, or when you forget
what you've done in the past to address the little "kinks" in the latest release(s).

By the way, it just turned 1 year since I got layed off, and I believe my agreement
said I would not work on any other OS for 1 year after employment with my former
company.  So, if SL-6000 interest in pdaXrom grows, perhaps...

Could you give me some tips or help on getting the wireless adapter to work on the SL-6000L

« on: June 30, 2008, 04:33:39 am »
I also have a SL-6000L and am in need of the Windows XP USB driver.  The website link you posted does NOT work with the 6k only the 5500.
