Accessories / Usb To Eide & Sata Cable + Power Supply

Doubt that it would work, Z battery would not last long if it did.

Suggest that you consider using a powered USB hub.

Hiya,

I've tried mikew's suggestion and there is still a problem

I still have to hold shift down to get a comma and if I press space after the comma I still get an |

Is there something wrong with my keyhelper file now?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=140438\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I think so.  I'm only using keyhelper for ScummVM and my comma key is properly mapped.

rats, any ideas anyone?

You will only have problems with , & / if you did not edit the file correctly.

You will get a | when you hold the shift key down at the same time as you press the space bar on every Zaurus, or perhaps the sticky key facility is holding the shift key down for you. You can check this out by holding the shift key down while pressing the space bar in any application.

Sharp ROMs / Application Installation

I've got Cacko on my SL-C1000 and I tried using Package Manager to install packages from the feed.  It retreived the list of available packages from the feed however when I try to install to my SD card it provides two messages :

1) Some apps may only run only on Internal Flash, are you sure you want to Install?

This seems reasonable, so I hit YES

2) Error:  Not enough storage memory.

This one is not correct since its a brand new 4GB SD card and I can add/remove files to it in the Files tab and/or via usb card reader on my windows box.

Any suggestions?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=140144\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

A couple of possible issues are:-

Installation process requires internal storage space to unpack IPK file prior to copying to the SD card, so relaese as much internal space as you can.

Install program may get confused with storage cards over 2GB as do some other programs, make sure you have less than 2 GB free before install, by duplication some files or directories.

Hope above helps.

I get round the problem by copying an empty Word document into each folder then use save & rename the file, its a pain.

You also have the option of using TextMaker, which will also allow you to open multiple Word documents at the same time.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Software Installation

There are 2 possibilities, you have corrupt ipk files or your add/remove program is corrupt.

If you can install any other software then your ipk games files are corrupt, suggest that you find somewhere else to download them from by seaching google/yahoo using the game name & ipk.

You need to make sure they all have a ipk file extension as some maybe zipped, the files can be located anywhere, they don't have to be in this folder.

You can also install any software by selecting the file from within the File Explorer.

Sharp ROMs / Commas In Cacko
« on: July 14, 2006, 10:06:09 am »
I never used keyhelper, much easier to update the file.

These changes were originally provided by Anton in the days before Keyhelper.

You can return to the original seetings if you backup the file before making any changes.

If not what are the above used for?

Yes it does apply, you should only get problems with ? key if you don't edit the file correctly!

This has been a problem with , ? and / keys on every english version of Cacko.

You need to edit the file home/zaurus/Applications/cyrillica/englisk-uk

The keyboard section starting at line 59 should be:-

[keyboard]
'/'   '/'   ','
','   '/'   ','
'?'  '?'  '.'
 0    0    0

Dont forget to take a backup before altering the file, you may also need to copy the file elsewhere before your editor will allow you to make any changes.

Corrected error spotted by HoloVector.

Linux Issues / How Do You Create A Shortcut

Can anyone tell me how to create a shortcut in the file explorer, on similar lines to Microsoft where you can copy a file or folder then paste a shortcut elsewhere?

General Discussion / Usb Print Support
« on: June 27, 2006, 08:19:15 am »
Textmaker does have a Print option, it expects the Zaurus to have a Default print queue using lpr, setup already, it also includes the options to configure your own print queue.

Textmaker lets you use the print option without complaining but nothing prints of course.

Sharp ROMs / Unable To Write Hhd3 On Cacko 1.23
« on: June 27, 2006, 08:12:56 am »
You may want to try this alternative as it should be a lot quicker.

Mount the Zaurus on your Windows PC as storage

Open Windows Explorer, right click on the Zaurus entry & select Properties

Select the Tools Tab

Select the Check now in error checking section

Check 'Automatically Fix File system errors'.

It does take some time as the checking process has a total of 5 phases.

Perhaps an easier way if you have a Windows PC to hand.

Connect to PC in Storage mode, right click drive then select properties then tools & you get options to fix drive as well as defrag. I have used the defrag a couple of times.

Don't forget to set to Storage mode in PC link settings, does not need any PC sofware.
