Another great tool is Dasher. I don\'t know if it runs on a zaurus... and it is internationnal!

i am really sorry about my englsh, dear tz. I posted this very late at night, so i admitt it is not as clear as it should be.

Let\'s do it once more.

I have a zaurus sl c750 and i can connect it to my linux box, a Mandrake 10.0 Official (not a Community release, this one is for members only*) via usb and ssh works just fine.

My desktop computer accesses to the Internet by a Sagem Fast 800 USB modem which is known to get linux users to troubles...

Mandrake has a \'graphical tool\' (i.e. no need for command lines, for pathetic newbies like me...) that is called Drakshare. It is meant to share an internet connection.

When i ask it to share my internet connection with the Z (i.e. zaurus), my internet connection crashes. That is it.

I am really unconfortable with command lines even though i am learning little by little. That is why i would really need a step by step help. The how-tos on the zg are great, but they don\'t deal with my config (usb modem) so i am not sure i\'m doing things well...

Dear gOdless : can you precise your thought ?

hi!

Here is my pb:
- I can connect to my c750 via ssh from my mdk 10.0 official through usb.
- I can connect to the internet fromp my mdk even though i have a sagem fast 800 usb modem (works on mdk10.0 but with difficulties on 9.2).
- BUT every time i want to share my connection with the grafical tool, i lose my internet connection !!!

Does ANYONE know how to solve this pb ?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / pdaxrom & VLC

Has anyone tried (and successed in) running VLC on pdaxrom?

should i install the ipk version (with dependants) or is it only for qtopia?

otherwise, can anyone compile it, _please_! I would like to do it by myself, but i am still in my newbie phase so...

sorry noirkura, but this post is really too hard to believe...
1) if you own a sl-c860, why would you need to rotate the video in order to view it landscape? Every rom can display landscape mode... the sl serie is made for it...
2) a strong arm 400mhz is not powerfull enough for mpg2 640*360 movie. Are you sure you didn\'t mean mpg1?
3) what codec do you use for sound?

I\'m not saying that you are lying but i\'m _VERY_ sceptical about this post...
But if it was true, that would be a great thing!!!

that is a point i was thinking about.

But once again: the pb is thaht i just don\'t know what to do.

the only fire wall i use is drakfirewall and i just can allow
- Everything
- Web serveur
- Domain name server
- ssh
- ftp
- mail server
- pop & imap serveur
- samba
-cups

i don\'t think it is the right way to activate pings because the question i am asked is:
            \"What services do you want to leave accessible from the _internet_ ?\"

is there a command line for checking the ping permission?

If this is the pb, why can\'t the pc ping the Z? I don\'t think thre is a firewall on my z....

both ifconfig on the mdk and on the z match with what Sashz indicates.

i\'m beginnig to be really FED UP with all of this...

i wanted to hav a linux experience since a long time ago but i thought i just wouldn\'t be able to learn a very different OS.

And then i discovered the Zaurus : a powerfull pda with an integrated keyboard. It seemed perfect to me as i wanted something to take notes during my lessons at University (i\'m a very slow left handed writer...). This was the occasion for trying Linux, and i installed Mandrake 9.2. I think i did a good choice.

But i\'m very disapointed that a linux based pda works with less pb under windows than under linux... I don\'t understand this point but i am aware that being a pathetic newbie is part of my troubles, and that is why i really want to thank all of the ZUG members who have tried to help me until now.

got it work!

i HAVE a usb0 interface!!! That is the great point.

No, in fact, i ask it to every one. I think it can be great to know if upgrading to a new kenel will lead us to troubles with our Zs even if \"upgrading\" should be a way to get rid of troubles we are currently having...

the point is that i think a listing of what worked and what didn\'t with this new kernel could be usefull for many people such as rom coders.

So this post could be used as a list of working configurations and/or how-to\'s for 2.6 kernel.

but if it\'s a bad idea, say it to me.

i\'ve never been able to connect my c750 to my mandrake 9.2 with a 2.4.22-28...

do you think a 2.6 version would help?

What about mdk 10.0?
