Security and Networking / So... Wpa1/2 For Tetsu Rom C3000 ?

cacko people are normally running tetsu's kernel

as for wpa, try the sharp rom fourm, i remeber posting somthing in there about wpa for someone who got it working or was it the OE fourm?

the latest OE has hostap built in and so does the latest cako that is not running on the c3k yet, (unless its happened in the last 2 days i havent been here)

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Best Wireless Lan Card For 3100 ?

I would be interested in knowing which WiFi CF card sticks out least. I have a Netgear MA701 and the plastic end that sticks out is broken at the ends but luckily it still is in one piece and still works. I am wondering which card to get as a possible replacement in the future when it finally breaks. I think the most important criteria for wifi cards on the zaurus are:

will it work? ie driver support
battery consumption? which wifi card consumes least power?
range? as long as it works 10 meters away from my wireless route, i be happy
size. how much does it stick out from the Zaurus?
the netgear one looked small on its packaging, but now I am wondering if there are smaller ones.

meanie/ i had a dlink 660 which was just huge... because of it breaking i got an ambicom wl l1100c and it is just the right size... it even fits in perfectly into the cf card pound of the pdair case. the dlink didnt because od the arc shaped exterior, the ambicom is flat.

its a prism2/2.5 chipset/ the battery use is very good and the range is actually better than the dlink.

recommend this card.

Security and Networking / So... Wpa1/2 For Tetsu Rom C3000 ?
« on: November 09, 2005, 04:36:52 pm »
I have 2 CF cards, a semi-working D-Link DCF-660 and and ambicom WL1000C, both are Prism 2 and are versions 1.7.4 and 1.8.0 luckily....

I have a C3000 with Testu's atty kernel v17i.

Would the hostap_supplicant work for my config? do i need to recompile the modules and then point the pcmcia config to load them?

what type of wpa works ? I have wpa2 personal running on an apple airport extreme ap..

ive seen numerous posts on how to update the firmware to 1.7.0+ and how to do this on OZ or cacko.. but not sharp/tetsu kernels...

Notes Mail isn't too difficult to handle, either via forwarding to a pop account, or if your Domino server offers POP or IMAP (both of which are options in Domino).  However, the Notes calendaring&scheduling is another matter entirely.  I posted a while back about it, but haven't come up with any viable options to sync a Notes calendar with Ko/Pi (or any other Z pim for that matter).  Notes does not have an option to export to iCal (which would probably be the simplest solution), and I haven't gotten anywhere yet trying to update NotesSync (still something I'm considering, if I can ever carve out time).

If anyone has other ideas, let's hear 'em.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=100428\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I use a mac and lotus notes... to get syncing working..i sync notes with lipsync to my mac's ical (only mainly using it for calendar entries), then sync ical use zmacsync with the Z calendar.. its a while but it works ok...

6000 - Tosa / Dead Zaurus

Try holding Fn, D, M keys at once and pressing RESET. Zaurus should enter diags mode. If yes, report your voltages.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=99808\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
im having similar issues with my almost dead z sl5500 (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15549) ... can get into diag mode, and can flash it, but it just doesnt boot.

voltages
without battery:
 - AIN1 (B/U): 369
 - AIN1 (main): 231
 - AIN0 : 1022

with battery:
 - AIN1 (B/U): 370
 - AIN1 (main): 426
 - AIN0 : 509

what do these mean?

5x00 Hardware / Not Booting, Diag Mode Works, Can Flash...

Flash it with an ospack, perhaps parts of the 'ROM' which the zImage & initrd.bin combos don't overwrite have become corrupt.

Sounds like your battery's monitoring circuit has stopped working properly, or the contacts have become corroded. Checking and cleaning the battery contacts would be a good start, replacing the battery may be needed. Hopefully, it's not a problem with the Z's circuitry.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=99537\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

thanks for the tips Tom, tried that before and still no go... even with the power connected it doesnt boot up... but diagnostics mode works ok... really weird!

anyone with any other ideas?

my faithful sl5500 has stopped working properly... noticed a weirdness where it wouldnt turn off and the battery thought it was always charging... although it wasnt!!

anyway, it eventually ran out of power... and hasnt been the same since...

now the charge light it always on when the power is connected... can be like this for days... sometimes when i press reset, the charge light flashes...

ive been able to get into the diagnostics menu.... d+p + reset... and was able to update the flash many times (tkc, oz, cacko) and it still wont boot up...

what is there left to try?

Not sure if that's what you are looking for, but I use my C1K to connect to the net via bluetooth link to Nokia 6230b phone that is a class 10 edge device. I have a usb cable too, but still prefer the flexibility of bluetooth wireless connections.

[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

How hard was it to set up like that? Do you ever find it inconvenient to have to carry both devices around? What about using them on the go? Could I stick the phone in a pocket and use the Z in my hand?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=91801\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

its not too hard to do... i have been using it that way for the last 6 months.

Sydney / Found Usb Host Cable In Aus!

Please give them a call to see if they still have the "iriver PMP usb host cable" in stock before you head down. They're selling them for $20 each.

Why is electronic stuff so expensive in Australia? The same cable costs 500 yen in Japan, that only about $6.00 at the moment. Thats over 300% mark-up.

The same is true of all other eectrical stuff I see when I return to Australia on vacation (not mention that it's at least 6 months behind Japan in getting goods to the stores).

its not only electronics, its actually a lot of things. we're always behind the rest of the world and its always much more expensive here - for no particular reason! i guess the justification is that we are so far away from everything....

Mac Issues / Zmacsync 2.0b1 - For Tiger Is Here
« on: July 18, 2005, 02:05:55 am »
Woohoo!!!

Thanks for the hard work Nicholas!!

out of curiosity... is there the possibility to sync ical with ko/pi on the z?
once way i was thinking was to publish ics files on a webdav server... but in reality, it would be like exporting the calendars and copying them accross over ssh..
