Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe Image For C1000

ok guys,
I have compiled an costum image for akita that includes sablevm. When I boot in landscape, the x comes up in portrait. Now loging in I have the upside down problem too. If I turn the screen in portrait mode and login, the logout, the login screen is now in the right landscape mode and I can turn it now to landscape  and work, until I use rotate.
Suspend button dont works and after halt from root console, I have to hardreset to get on button working.
Any hints? It is a build from today.

5x00 General discussions / Flashing 5500 First Time

I keep getting that Sharp screen with a blank cursor flashing at the lower right corner, then the zaurus turns off.

This means that the kernel did'nt flashed correctly.

Hey Guys,
wtf about this pdaXrom strikes back action. The thread posted by pgas is not a legitimation for highjacking this thread. Mickey answered in the pdaXrom thread refered by pgas to a user asking for ppaxrom for 5500 because of X. Since there is no pdaXrom for 5500 and OZ/GPE is the only possibility (well pocketworksation too, but if you have a big card) to ron X on a bare 5500, mickey made a valueable contribution to the thread to help the user, not highjacking that thread.
In this thread, well we have a possibility for OZ/GPE on SL-C1000. It is already in the bitbake/OE system. But I don't deny, that it may be usefull to inform users about existing pdaXrom for the c-1000, since there is no (flame)war between OZ and pdaXrom.

Is there anyway to setup autologin for normal user? I logged inas normal user and then configured autologin. But now it logs automatically into root account.

The kdepimpi packages (kopi, kapi, etc) do not require the compat libs. This seems too be your problem. Clean the rom from these packages and install again without using mkcompat.

Hi Lardman,
thanks for the hint. Well there is no file there. But there is also no .gpe directory there too. I created a directory /root/.gpe
The error does not apear anymore. It seems to create the category file now. I can also now launch all the gpe-pim apps

Hey Guys,
i am testing the image now. It is now much more mature than the last time I tried. I have configured autologin as root, but I am always getting the error:

unable to open database: /root/.gpe/categoriesAnyone a hint?
I get this error for example, when I try to start the calendar. Calendar does not start. Just the contacts can be launched, while I get that error there too. I did an ipkg update and ipkg upgrade, which upgraded from the upgrade feed. The upgrade went on smooth.

6000 - Tosa / What Is Latest 6000 Rom? See My Error!

Hi,
the 2.4.6 Kernel was used in the first Sharproms (2.38 eg) for the SL-5500. This model was very popular and so there is a lot of software around for these old roms. Your vnc seems to be from that time. Try to get a vnc for your rom or at least for the latest 5500 rom (3.1x) that also used the Kernel 2.4.18

Well Cwiiis, thanks for the hint. It resolves also another bug a little bit. When you hold the cursor to right the Z goes to suspend. Before your hint it didnt resume after such a case and you had to use soft reset. Now it still goes to suspend but resumes by using the on/off button. This makes it much more useable.

Hmmm, when hrw gets the 760 device mentioned by Richard, then it will mean that it will be harder for me to resist a 7xx device in future, since this would mean really a value add to OZ support on these devices.

Qt/Qtopia / Best Distro For Z Dev?

I think most developers use Debian. You can even install it from the knoppix live cd, if you want -easy and painless.

Knoppix != Debian
You will probably get dependencies problems when you use knoppix to upgrade it to debian.
The new Debian Sarge is easy for neewbees and you will get a solid installation.

Hi TSG,
the compat-libs dont work automagically.
1) Install opera (you seem to have done this)
2) Go to the settings tab
3) Click on the Libraries Icon, you can see below:

(It is the one with 2.95, 3.3)
4) Now it is intuitive, it asks you for the tab, where opera is installed, I think you have to choose apps
5) Now you should be able to choose opera from the pull down menu
6) Then a "are you sure" dialog comes -> okay

Well, if you have a 5500 and a SD card, you can just take the hentges rom.

You have to read the cardfs howto.
It has and installer, that searchs your card, then asks you to format it to ext2. You type ok (not the ok button), then it asks you to install the software to card. Then you will get all these apps:

There is also a possibility to ext some parts of the file system to your card (you can read it in the cardfs howto).
Well it brings a lot of features not included in the official release, aslo AFAIK and refering to the screenshots the compat-libs.
So you can run opera on the rom, for example this one:

The hentges rom is build from the scratch with the OE buildsystem, so there is no "dirty hack" there.
