Zaurus - pdaXrom / What Are Current Issue's With The C3100?

the only real problem i've with the 3100 and pdaxrom is the autonomy, reduced from 50%, but i'm sure it will be repaired quickly

what is your autonomy with pdaxrom?
with my 3100, i've between 6 and 8 hours with the sharp rom
and between 2 and 4 hours with pdaxrom

Sharp ROMs / Some Questions About Memory Management

i think that the 63mb of memory are your RAM (the memory used to launch programs)
temporary storage is normal, never used by an user, but normal
i'll verify tonight if my 3100 react as the yours, but there is no utility of any kernel module to see the space
just if you are very anxious about that, just launch a console and type df -m you'll have all the mounted devices with the empty space (and no ram)
for installing applications on the HD, basically it is not possible, because of the drive isn't in the right format (ext2 or ext3), but maybe with some tweaks and a manual install... but carefull with this, the sharp rom love his 3 partitions

Did you notice a reduced autonomy with your 3100 and the new Cacko? mine reduced by half (from 8h to 4h)

The 3100 model is special
this is the only one (with some 6000) with an international charger in the box basically

with vlc i use it in console mode, so i can control it from the Zaurus in SSH
and to know what line to enter, just make one setting that works with the gui, and copy paste the resulting option line just after the vlc command in the console
this must work just the same
and to know the frequency of the channels, just edit your mythtv config file, they should be there
after that just make some little scripts for channels and call them in ssh from the Z
and it's all
(i can't give you directly the lines i use, because of a recent disk crash, i've lost them )

i dont know abouy mplayer and mythtv, but you can watch tv streaming by using VLC, server on the desktop and VLC client (it's the same) on the Zaurus, a version of vlc is compiled at least for pdaxrom
VLC can use V4L driver and can directly stream output compressed to mpeg for example, to the zaurus over wifi (i use this at home to have tv in the kitchen )

for me it is YES
the same as the pdaxrom on my 760 with the hard disk fully functionnal (from today)
the last thing to resolve before considering this the same as pdaxrom for 7x0, is the battery problem, the autonomy sems to be reduced (some more testings are needed)

hehe i can say that in a day or two, the time to test this config
But visibly, Civil has not this problem, it is maybe machine-based, so... test for yourself
but for me the hdd bug is fixed (long time testing in progress but no problem for now)

I've made all my test again after your modification, no more problem
all the mountings of the drive are ok, each suspend/resume
with or without a CF card in the drive
and the hard disk is always accessible
(the CF and the hard disk are still changing dev device, but i know now why it isn't important at all )

plz try suspend/resume, check if harddrive accesible after resume. Try bootup with inserted memory CF and without ) try test more

Impossible to resume with a CF card inserted, the screen is flickering, the Z show the screen and go back to suspend
when you eject the CF card, press twice the power button (one time to "resume" and unmount CF card logically, the Z go itself in suspend, one time to resume really the Z)
so the other "problem" is the assignation of the devices, CF card is /dev/hdc when you boot without CF card and /dev/hda when you boot with a CF card
There is for me another problem in RC12 on 3100, The Autonomy
with sharp rom i've with my utilisation like 8hours of autonomy
with the pdaxrom RC12 and the same utilisation, i've only like 2 hours of autonomy
or maybe it's the batery applet who has a problem, each reboot, the battery status come back to 100% and rapidely decrease
has anybody else the same problem?

i had to change the rotate.sh script xrandr -o left by xrandr - right
new Abiword is nice
It seems the autonomy is drastically reduced in comparaison with the sharp rom, but maybe it is an idea, i'll look further
I think there are no differences for the hard disk mounting, i've so removed the automount (no test)
if you need special tests for the mounting on the 3100, i can do it
