Do you have cookies enabled in your browser? Perhaps you are clearing them at the end of each session?
Like I said, I haven't changed anything, and I didn't have the issue until just a few days ago.
Is it working ok for you?

I have "Remember Me" checked, but for the last few days I have had to log in every time I visit the forum.
I haven't changed anything on my end, have you?

Doug

Asus Eee PC / Any Eee Pc Owners Here?
« on: March 01, 2008, 08:15:42 am »
I'm a happy EEE PC owner.
I've practically replaced my big laptop with it, and my Z is starting to get a little lonesome.
The E is a sweet little machine.

This thread is now 9 pages strong with new posts every day.
I think it's quite obvious we could use an Asus EEE PC subforum.

That's one of the problems - the forums at forum.eeeuser.com are getting more and more messy. Too many inane - IMHO  - posts such as:

Has anyone stayed with standard easy mode?
transporting the eee pc
What did you name your Eee?
Availability of 4G colours
are you waiting for the 8GB ??

Not to mention the countless duplicate threads dealing with the same subject. When I first got my eeepc I was hitting the forums several times a day, now it's more like once every several days. A while back one of the moderators tried to reduce the number of duplicate threads and was met with hostility from some users. Meanwhile the problem is continuing to escalate which takes it into a vicious circle - the more crap there is the harder it is to find good quality info so users simply start a new thread instead.
Agreed.

Has anyone tried this?  Is it worth it for us to create a sub-forum for it?  From everything I've read, it seems like a pretty cool device and is kinda in the realm of the other devices we support here.

Thoughts/Opinions?
My opinion is we should have a sub-forum for the Eee PC.
Most of the users from eeeuser.com won't find their way to this forum, and we can at least have threads with intelligent content.

BTW, how many Z users here also have an Eee PC?
I have a 4GB Black Eee PC Surf.
It has pretty much replaced my 15" laptop, and I haven't used my Z since I got it.

Yeah, the Eee is pretty tweakable (geeky).
I haven't used my Z since I bought it.
It has also pretty much replaced my 15" laptop.

I got a 4GB Surf and I think it's great!
At least it has a useable keyboard, unlike the Kohjinsha.

I strongly recommend installing the lazyeeepc package, which unlocks some very cool features, including apt-get (all debian i386 packagesI am used to installing things on my zaurus (!), RMVB decoder and skype 2.0 video version.
Well, I received my Eee PC 4GB Surf a couple days ago and I have managed to make some modifications to my personal preference.

I downloaded the lazyeeepc file, but I have no idea how to install it or use it once installed (the download site is in Japanese so I can't read it).

I am used to installing things on my zaurus (sharp rom), but I'm kind of in the dark about a lot of things on the eee.

I appreciate any help you can give me on this.

Thanks,
Doug

I hope that comes to be. The more ultraportables, the better (especially Linux ones).
Absolutely!!

Well, I ordered my Eee PC 4GB Surf in Galaxy Black today from newegg.com (with next day UPS and rush order processing, of course).
I can't wait to see how it compares to my Kohjinsha ... especially the keyboard.

True. There is only one long button below the touch pad. It functions as the right click mouse button.
I've read a few reviews that state the mouse button is sort of a rocker style button.
Press the right end for right-click ... press the left end for left-click.

Also, I would expect a tap on the touchpad is a left-click like any other touchpad, but I haven't read that anywhere yet.
