Sharp ROMs / Cacko Rom 1.22 Is Available!
« on: January 04, 2005, 06:09:10 am »
Hi,
i've got to report a weird thing.
While trying to tweak Kino2 preferences, the screen literally freezes. The Menu-Item "Preferences" is highlighted and stays that way, no matter what i try.
Ko/pi, wich is bound to calendar hard key, seems to start up. At least it's icon appears in the taskbar, but there seem to be no way to get it in Front. Apparently the only response to screen-taps is, that backlight brightens up.
This situation turned up twice now, so it seems to be reproducable, yet unpredictable. I don't think, that any specific settings are responsible, but it only happend, when subsequently altering different settings after respective trial.

Up to now, i couldn't find a way around reboot, is there any?

Apart from that, i'm really happy with 1.22. Even my BT-Card was instantly recocgnized and works like a charm.

Thanks a lot.

Hi maslovsky,
great work, really. I've just flashed it and did a little bit of exploring. Just one suggestion for a future fix...
I'd love to have screen(mouse)support with mc, couldn't you just add the -x option in the mc.sh?
I like the new icons and kino2 really became adult.
For now, i'm returning to my playing corner.
Thanks a lot.

If you go to any time based view (Today, Next x Days, Working Week, Week) and drag the event either earlier or later in the day it automatically detaches it from the recurrence (ie creates an exception and a single event for you).  You can then set it to the correct time, or even change the date (by editing it).
Tx Swing, i hadn't noticed that before, but it's exactly what i was looking for.

Hi Ulf,
i admit that syncing PWs can be a comforting thing.
Quote
And do not forget, that the most important thing about PwM/Pi is that you can sync your data. Show me one other pw application that can do that
That was the reason I ported it in the first place.

You're certainly right in the Z-world, but in my Palm i had splash! wich is a really great Pw-keeper with syncing ability, and palm-like just as ez.

Ah, and please add the reocurring event problem with KO/Pi into sourceforge.
been there, done that

I really like Pim/Pi and i very much rely on it. So forgive my impertinence, when i'm pushing towards perfection. The potencial is there.

i've got nothing left to complain with Ko/Pi and Ka/Pi.
Well, may be that was a bit of an exaggeration.

So here is my complaint about Ko/Pi    :
As far as i got, i can't find any way to cancle, or shift a single occurence of a recurring event. The only way seems to state an exception, which deletes the item, copy and then change it manually to a single event with the desired properties.

It hurts to admit, but in this matter even MSOL outbeats Ko/Pi (yet)

I know, you're living for the challenge

In the current version, categories can only be edited from within the edit password dialog. There the category dropdownbox has the capability to enter new categories.
I certainly noticed that. What i was looking for, is a chance to enter e.g. credit-cards with their respective issuer, number, validity and pin - into fields that can be recognized as such. As well as, say internet-providers, with quite a different set of informations, or even serials of legally obtained comercial software , which can be a bit puzzling if you have only "Description;Category;Username;Password;URL" - and the rest is to be put in Comments?

Well as much as i'm an addict to the other xx/Pi stuff, PwM/Pi has not reached their class yet.
But don't let that get you down - you really cheered up my (Pim-dependant) life.

Thanks for the importing guide anyhow, i'll give it a try tonight on the train.

Hi all,
allmost perfect as ever, since versions 1.97+. Only the wellknown oddities in resizing of the config-screens, which aren't a real problem, i've got nothing left to complain with Ko/Pi and Ka/Pi.

I don't know if it's my personal setup, but Om/Pi ceases to start after the first time.
Afterwards there's only the exploding icon - and than nothing. So i returned to qtmail which isn't that bad after all and integration with Ka/Pi works pretty well.

With PwM/Pi i could not figure out, if there's a secret way of configuring categories like in most other PW-Apps (e.g. renaming the fields for different needs).

Is there any chance of importing Z-Safe text exports?

Tx to the xx/Pi team for these.

Hi,
did you try to use ipkg on the command line?
That way, I managed to install it on my SD-Card.

Software / ipkg question

If you have mc installed, you can just temporarily rename the file
from .ipk to .tar.gz
mc will then recognize the archive and you can browse into it as though it where a real directory.

I'd like to be able to send one appointment, or event, or to-do, to my phone (or someone's PDA-like device pointed at me). Like I already can with vCards in KA/Pi, I'd like to be able to do so in KO/Pi

I know I can "Beam Calendar" and "Beam Filtered Calendar", but that's a bunch of events and I just want to send one. If I could work out a filter that worked on time-based events - showing only today's events for example - that might do it.

As it is, I've found I can save an individual event/todo/appointment from within it's edit dialog to a file, then use the Launcher to beam that file to the phone, but that's just messy.
Hi,
did you realize, that in the context menu of an appointment (tap and hold) there is an option "send via IR" ?
I didn't try it though, just thought it could be, what you're looking for.

It was receiving (beaming in) that I was referring to.
Hi Chaos,
you can receive appointments or addresses into Kopi/Kapi via IR with a little trick.
When you received the item and are prompted to add to calendar or addressbook, just don't. Instead exit by tapping the OK-Button in the upper right corner, which leaves you with a fine file in /home/tmp/obex to be imported in Kapi or Kopi through their file menu.

sizing of config box in kapi
speed of ompi

kopi ist next to perfect by now.

Zautrix,
you're fixing the bugs faster then we can find them,
I'm really impressed.
I've just downloaded 1.9.5b and installed it. Looks fine so far. Closer testing and report will follow tomorrow.

Hi,
i doublechecked it again, but the sizing of the settings dialog is sub-optimal.
In landscape-mode the button row is hidden behind the system task bar.
In portrait-mode they're perfectly visible and you can see a lot of unused space above the checkboxes.
On the other hand the columns on the contact-tab are misproportioned in portrait-mode only, they're perfect in landscape.
The left column, with the listbox where youre supposed to read pre-/postfixes, is so ridiculously tiny and then with scrollbars, you've got to read the entry letter by letter. (Ok that's a bit of an exaggeration)

I haven't figured out yet, what the extensions dialog is for. Can you give me a hint?

I haven't tried kammu yet, so nothing there.

Keep on the good work.
