Thanks for the tips!
I ordered the ones from myordercenter.com (The Overlay Brilliant looked really nice - but not available here in the US)

Yeah, the to-92 pkg is just right.

Thanks for the compliment, however most of the circuit design was scavenged from the page referenced. The adaptations are fairly standard for introducing a circuit into an automotive environment.
Still, it was nice of you to adapt it specifically to the Zaurus.

BTW. What connector fits the charger input on the 5600(5500)? Not proprietary I hope

Hi cliffmoon.
Nice circuit.

You might try the TL431 to get your 1.25Vref (V2).

Newbie question: Since I haven't received my SL-5500 yet I'm not clear as to whether you can you use the Zaurus while it is attached to a charger. Any help?

Thanks.

General Discussion / HELP! Want PC access via web from SL5500
« on: July 25, 2004, 04:40:03 pm »
Hi everyone.
Personal news: I have decide to drop the name BD iiiiii. It was originally only for my first-ever post, and frankly, it's just not "me". I will be known as Twisk after this.

Fraggy wrote in another thread: the very big advantage of VNC is that you don't need any extra software for the CLIENT: you just need a java enabled web browser, then enter the adress http://remotecomputer_ip_adress:5800 and voila! You have remote control over the machine in your netscape / IE / Whatever java browser you wish
Fraggy, I found:
1) Keypebble VNC at killefiz.de
2) Frame Buffer VNC Server at Zaurus DevNet
3) TightVNC at tightvnc.com
4) Instructions at The Zaurus Notebook
5) Installing the fb VNC server at the the frontgarden
6) Zaurus VNC Server at sdgsystems
7) And finally RealVNC

Out of all of those #7 is the most professional looking.
I am still very confused so I will pose this question - If I want my PC to be able to be seen on the the web (as say IP x.x.x.x) so that any computer with a java enabled web browser can access and control it, AND one of those browser-equipped computers is my Z (SL-5500), which of the above is the best for me?
------
Keypebble does not seem to provide browser access.

Zaurus DevNet was above my head.

TightVNC looks really good, but unfortunately doesn't talk about the Z.

The Zaurus Notebook gets sooo close, but just when it gets to "take control of your PC from the Z" it says nothing about using a browser!? Bummer!

the frontgarden only talks about controlling the Z from a PC (wrong way again)

Zaurus VNC Server (at sdgsystems). ?? not much explaination.

RealVNC may be all that I need, but as a newbie I am totally lost.

Fraggy, if you or anyone else could help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
If this post should go in another fora, someone please let me know which one.

Does anybody know how much a used zaurus sl-5500 like this would go for?
Yes.
SL-5500 with wifi card, used: Low$135.00 High $200.00

Basis: Just did an exhaustive search for a SL-5500 for myself. Ended up buying new from on-line dealer ($199.00), mainly because of warranty. Your price is reasonable considering you have a presence here on the ZUG. It would be an even better price if you were a member of log-standing, say 2 years or more. Keep trying. The Free Shipping is a real incentive. You might also add Free Support via this ZUG (or whatever), that certainly would have hooked me.

Cheers,
