Zaurus - pdaXrom / Gplflash 2, [working]
« on: January 22, 2006, 05:46:50 am »
Okay, without the symlink it installs now and is recognized. But each time, flash content is processed, firefox freezes. Same situation when using the external flashplayer from command line: The first flash image comes up and nothing else ever happens.
Anyone able to run a complete flash application?

I have installed libnpflash_so_0_0.0 to ~firefox-1.5/plugins but firefox doesn't recognize it as a plugin. It has a different mime-type. Is flashplayer also needed in this dir or is it only the external player? Any suggestions??

Did you install Libstdc++.so.5 ?

Good luck,

Hello wowo123,
can you explain how you got rox and kde-apps working?
On my c 1000 all apps are crashing due start or short after coming up!

thanks, Denis

Hi Denis,
I installed rox, rox-clib, rox-lib and rox-session from the actual feed. Then I changed the .xinitrc-File in /home/root into the one, which was published in this forum some time ago. After coming up with rox I installed all kde-packages from the feed on sd. They ran out of the box without kde desktop.
But I did it on a C860. I don't know anything about the different behaviour of C1000.

For all those, who like to enjoy all the nice kde programs, but feel kde desktop a little bit heavy on the Z, here are two screenshots of running kde applications on the wonderful fast ROX session environment with pinboard.
I did some tests with different kinds of kde installations and finally installed on the sdcard of my 860, because I need more internal flash left for additional programs than I can get with the compressed internal installation. I also use a 64 MB swapfile on sd.
I wrote some simple scripts to start ROX or KDE directly with the xserver, but for me personally the combination with ROX seems to be the fastest und best usable solution and I can use all he standard features of the pdaxrom.
With ROX I get approx. half the startup times for kde programs than with KDE desktop, f.i. 25 secs for konqueror against 50 secs in KDE. This is (nearly~~~) acceptable...

Lots of thanks and an extra donation for the pdaxrom team for this great edition!

Can anyone else confirm this works?  If it does I see Bluetooth in my future.

Thanks for the tip, 0x!

I use this card alternatively with cacko and pdaxrom RC12. It works without problems with ppp connections to my nokia-phone and, with special scripts, in a PAN environment in connection to my win2000 server which I use for internet connections. I had to copy some scripts (f.i. uart) from my cacko-bt-setup to /etc/bluetooth and /etc/pcmcia in pdaxrom to modify the serial-BT-setup and the card-identification. I think there are several infos regarding this in the forum. Good luck!

Looks like many of have wlan problems with cacko 1.23. I entered this bug to http://bryandeluca.com/cacko/bugs/query.php also
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=104807\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I use the latest version of this card  without any problems on my C860. For me wlan in version 1.23 works just fine.

After starting I always get the message "No filter plugins installed:HTMLfilter". In fact there is no libHTMLfilter.so installed. Which package it is in? Where do I get it? Any ideas?

I have just installed the new ROM on my C860 and like it very much. Seems to run a little bit faster then 1.22.
Finally I created a NAND-Image and restored the 1.22-version to backup some additional data. When now trying to restore the NAND-image of 1.23, I always get Restore ...failed format error. I think the problem is the new 32MB root partition. I tried bams suggestion and did a factory restore in the service menu, but same error. So what's the exact procedure for a working NAND-restore?

Did you try to restore root partition size to the default value?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=102648\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Yes. I also tried a completely new 1.23-ROM install  to overwrite it with the restore of the last NAND-backup. Always the same error.  As I have stored two different versions of 1.23-Nand-backups with the same behaviour there cannot be a temporary error with the backup-file. But I can (fortunately!) always restore an old version 1.22 NAND-backup file.
Can you confirm, that the NAND-restore worked properly for you after switching to the new rom?

hallo fry,

the problem with NAND-backup doesn't occur with backups, you made before cacko 1.23-install, but with NAND-restore AFTER installing the new rom. After experiencing that problem, I could restore my old NAND-backup from version 1.22 without problems. But now I'm back to the old version because my backup from 1.23 will not restore

Sharp ROMs / Nand-restore On Cacko 1.23
« on: November 05, 2005, 05:23:41 am »
Anyone, who did a successfull NAND-Restore with the new ROM 1.23?
NAND-Backup works fine, but when trying to restore I get Restore...failed Format error. This happens only with cacko 1.23.
I can restore the old version 1.22 without problems with the same CF- or SD-card. The problem is the 32 MB-root-partition.
Any suggestions?

EDIT: This happens with the C860 version.

Software / Sylpheed And Proxy?
« on: September 28, 2005, 07:17:04 am »
Has anyone managed to use sylpheed with pdaxrom rc11 on C860 with a proxy? Thunderbird does it without problems, but it seems to be far too slow. So sylpheed would be great, but without a proxy I cannot reach anything...
