Yep, I've never been a prolific poster but I still read regularly; I expect that will continue even after I get my Pandora. I've no plans to sell my Z just yet!

I don't see why not - SDHC was designed from the outset to go to 2TB, they just artificially limited it to 32GB because the filesystem support for more wasn't there (and neither was the hardware). Now they're just removing those restrictions and specifying a new filesystem and maximum speed.

At the very least you should be able to reformat one to ext2 and use it on day 1.

That would be because the kernel cmdline being passed to the cacko kernel has a wrong/missing mtdparts option - you have to explicitly and correctly describe your nand partition layout.

It would have been easier that way - pity it simply doesn't work.

The c3100 uses the official c3200 sharp driver, not my hacked one

I too have had issues transferring large files directly to the SD card over usb networking; using scp to copy didn't help things as it increases the cpu load significantly. But I've never had any trouble transferring files of any size to or from the card to hd or nand.

If it does a good amount I will most likely get rid of my C3000.

This is the one thing I'm worried about - that when my Pandora arrives my C3100 will be abandoned.

I'll just have to find other uses for it!

The latest chipsets are ridiculously sensitive; I've got a BT gps unit with a MTK chipset and it blows my older SirfStarII out of the water! Decent locks indoors, in pockets, etc. That said, it has a decent antenna; any GPS unit with an antenna small enough to fit inside the Z is going to suffer badly.

Better to use a BT GPS, I reckon; lower battery drain on the Z, and you can use it with the Pandora once it ships

"Officially", it's true, SD only supports 2GB. But it's possible to get to 4GB and many devices support it. The original zaurus driver prior to the 3100's didn't, but I released modified versions for the 6000 and c7xx a while back

4GB SD cards aren't discontinued, they're just far rarer than the SDHC sort. Heck, I just bought one new a few weeks ago!

If you can't get into a boot menu, then imaging the HD isn't going to help; something is wrong with your flash or P2ROM.

99% of the time Fn+D+M will work, although people have trouble sometimes coaxing a Z into seeing it. If it really isn't working, you're probably out of luck.

"device is not claimed by any active driver" is a sure sign that the vendor/product id supplied by your USB device isn't on the list hardcoded into the driver.

"lsusb" will give you the ID of your dongle (in the form NNNN:NNNN), and you can add it to the source code of the driver before recompiling it.

Hmm. I've built openredalert, and it looks like the problem from FreeRA above still exists. That is, it has trouble reading subfiles from the mixes. Commenting out lines in files.ini is not the answer, as those files are IN main.mix/redalert.mix, and themselves contain the rest of the data files - i.e. fonts etc.

I'm having a poke around using gdb, but I forgot how clunky the command line client is... :S

Did you do the flashing step? It's not completely described in those instructions besides the words "Flash it"; but you need to do the full boot with OK held down, select option 4, select SD card, etc rigmarole or else you will still only have the kernel which was originally on your Z.
