Hi ...

thanks for great work on r121 :-)

after some problems I get u-boot and r121 installed using nand backup from helpfull person (THX)

- Problem to run X with startx using a non root user ... got some grey background with some sqaurewindows with some controls but no function .

- system setting date / time does not work ... try to use nice new py scripts, soon

- wlan works, but could not get a connection using usbd ethernet over usb :-( ... ohhhh I lay down my wlan card somewhere and could not find it :-(

Hi Newkirk,

THX very much ... with some modifications I get u-boot and pdaXrom r121 to flash and it works great :-) ... now it's tim to test ...

I will give some hints for flashing later ... together with some error / problems report :-)

Hi scoutsme, Hi Sash, Hi Laze, Hi everyone :-)

I am willing to test the new release and I will be very happy to do it, but I have the same problems with installing u-boot ... reading Howto install, many threads of the forum :-(

But evrytime the same problems with my c860 and many different CF / SD Cards :-( ... only getting blinking yellow / green lights and nothing happens ... NAND Backup / Restore with these cards works well!

I am really sad because I love pdaXrom ... now remaining to Beta2 for works very fine ... using NAND restore ...

C+M Menu gives me Ok usinf NAND erase and Nand Full Testing, but no possibility to install u-boot and new pdaxrom r121 ...

Does anybody have an idea to help me install for testing? Any chance to get a NANDbackup from fresh installed c860 (with u-boot and r121)?

Hi diesel,

yes, that's what I did to prepare CF or SD Card :-) tried it with / without partitioning on /dev/sd? and /dev/sd?1 ... but no chance ...

Maybe someone could make a fresh installation on a c860 and post me a NAND backup? This works without problems on my c860! I could give some place on my server! Please PM me.

Thanks ... I tried it many times like you say :-) ... giving it a try for several minutes, but leds don't stop blinking ...

Do you have a more exact time like "more than 20 sec."?

Anybody have problems with FAT16 and msdos filesystem? especially with the upper-/lowercase of filenames ... I use KDE3.5.4 to mount, unzip and copy files?
What about mounting options filenames style (lowercase, Win95,WinNT,mixed) and UTF-8?

Maybe I have problems with that and Lowlevel updater will not recognize the file on my FAT16 media?!

Hi all,

yes I wnat to try Beta4 with u-boot on my nice c860 but got terible dipressed (near to throw my c860 out of the window!) ... ok, not really ;-)

I tried everything to flash u-boot ... wrote some comments and threads ... btu I could not flash u-boot ... Beta 2 works well on my c860 and I am able to flash origial SHARP Rom and OZ with GPE, works fine but I want to have pdaXrom on it ...

NAND restore / backup works well to get back to my working Beta2 :-) but why am I not able to get u-boot working? CF / SD is well formated with FAT16 (tried it with or without partitioning)

trying to flash u-boot with this dammed D + C keys gives me only blinking green / yellow ...

Full Flash erase runs ok and Full Flash test says ok (no partition data found with other test - ok I think!)

try to use CF update from servicemenu ( D + M) says "Model error!" ... read some threads

No I'm very helpless ... I opened my c860 looking for the fuses to charge and power my Z. Looking for the connectors plug inside Z (thought there is a connecting problem, because sometimes my Z makes some problems - nothing!)

I'm missing the donate-o-meter on the new page ... I have donated some weeks ago .. seen nother ( $0 ) on the aol pdaxrom page.

But I want to make some comments ...

- first thing what I am missing is a roadmap on pdaXrom (maybe with different position for kernel, rootfs, startup, model specific things, ...)

- second one is a changelog for all this Beta's ... Yes I know it is not very easy to do it :-)

Hope you enjoy your new job!

Yes I know these instructions ... but I think I have problems with CF SD card format.

My problem is that making NAND backup / restore is working with 1 GB card, but flashing upgrade with it it doea not work ... giving me only blinking yellow/green leds :-(

I verified files and zip with md5 ... ok

Did you use FAT16 with (partition id 6 for FAT16 with 2 FATs default) or without partition (huge floppy device id) ... using main device like /dev/sda or /dev/sda1

Flashing older ROM work fine for me, last test with Beta2 but no new u-boot ... flashing with pressing Ok while switching PowerOn

For flashing the u-boot or pdaxrom ... in which position is your battery switch ... normal operation (on) or reset (off)?

I tried different thing , but nothing is working ... only NAND backup / restore :-(

I tried to flash u-boot and Beta 4 ... but I have problems with my CF (1GB / 96 MB) or SD (1GB / 512MB / 256MB) Cards ... I format them with FAT16 (with or without partiontable) but flashing gives me only blinking yellow and green leds :-(

NANDFlash erase and restore/backup is working well ... read many posts in forum but could not get any solution :-(

Any solutions?

Hi :-)

now running Beta 2 ... first impression every thing works all right ... no problem booting without cf and sd card ... wifi cf card works ok.

some problems with smbmnt ... maybe my fault.

Later some more tests ... SD Card 2 GB first test recorgnized but could not mount it.

Hi Sashz :-)

I've tested a SanDisk 2GB Card ... not working :-) with Beta1 ...

CF/SD-Monitor Applet won't recognize the card ... having some error messages in dmesg and /var/log/messages ... maybe there are some problems with partition table I have added the partinfo from fdisk!

after ejecting it other card will not be mounted :-( ... after reboot it works again.

yes I miss this little small kphone too ... last feeds from RC?? there was a compiled ???phone apps for VoIP ... but didn't have time to test it ...

I like to have one for beta1 :-) for testing ...
