I know we've been having a lot of issues lately with our hosting here.  Mike has been dealing with our hosting provider and trying to get that resolved.

what kind of bandwidth does this take?  and space?

I will bring it back, since I no longer have any special hope for the qtopia based rom.

Does this mean the packages that the qtopia sharp ROM uses will no longer be applicable to the Guylhem rom?

will work on the wireless gui first then. the sd driver won't be possible because sharp only released a binary for the C3200 which IIRC uses a 2.4.20 kernel. The

If I read that right, it means we won't be able to (#5) install programs to the SD card, right?  Or are you saying that it's #12 you can't do?  If it's #12 (2G SD), what specifically would you need?

To me, #5 is a must.  If someone can't install programs to their SD card, I would think it's a show stopper.

A functional rom should have all the major features of the ROM it's replacing (the useful things, anyway).  While BT is nice, being able to install programs normally to the SD means I can't install it anywhere except the main or CF card.  I'd like to leave the CF for things like a modem, or a network card, etc.

#7 (ipk functionality) is also kind of important - if not ipk use, where else can we get packages from?

#8 (syncing) is something I can currently do on the Sharp ROM, is also pretty important (I synch it with the palm desktop).

#1 is important if I can't get my network connections working on the Guylhem rom.

So my approach for the last months has been to rethink of the problem, and look at the options.

I guess this means the Guylhem ROM and the kernel project is dead.  oh well.  Would have been nice if he had gotten it to 1.0 --- I am pretty much am satisfied with the Sharp ROM, but would have switched to his ROM if it made it to 1.0

Unfortunately, networking plus my cards not working was the critical steps that stopped me from making the changeover.  Of all the ROM projects, I thought this one had the most potential (I liked being able to use the Sharp ROM ipks, and having just a little more features added incrementally, which is what his was doing).

Well, it has been over 3 months since my offer was made. I have not seen as much as a reply. So I am presuming that the Guylhem rom project is abandoned   . Just so that Guylhem does not suddenly pick up development with hopes of receiving a donation, I am posting my withdrawal of the offer of contributions so that I can support another rom.

I just emailed him.  Give him a few days to see if he's still going to work on it?  Great guy, does great work, but gets involved in a bit many things.  The downside is many of his projects 'seem' to not be finished.  When he does work on stuff, he's great though.

No - there is a terminal services client for the zaurus, though. Search for rdesktop.

Thanks, had hoped to do 2 birds with one stone.  I installed that one before, but was never really successful with it.  I guess I can take a second crack at it again.

6000 - Tosa / Rom Discussion On Tosa

One thing I can't understand is, why can't we find a 6000W ROM and extract the Bluetooth software modules from there? (I think guylhem's got one already.) That way, the 6000 would have native BT support and we could be ahead of other models in at least one software category.

I'm satisfied with the Sharp ROM too.  It would have been nice to try guylhem's rom, but I think it's more on the dead than alive side.  He does good work, but I have the feeling to get it to the point of being released will take a while more, perhaps 6 months to a year down the line.  His last work was in October, which would make it about 6 months since any work was done on it.

I actually just finished talking with sven from killefiz.de.  He's going to try taking on the elsi himself and see what he can do.  Hopefully we'll start being able to put out updates again.

I even offered to help update his outdated entries, but he's never replied.  Entries I've sent in doesn't get updated at his site either.  Whatever the case, I'm willing to help.

Glad he'll try to update elsix.

Being that I currently try to update elsix, I didn't think it was my place to vote.  I do like how the new site's format is, but I do have a problem if it's intended to make $.  I don't mind giving my time to things, but if I'm going to do that, not at someone else's profit.
