For Sale / Wanted / Wtb: Ce-rh2 Remote
« on: December 02, 2006, 03:15:00 pm »
I'd like to buy a CE-RH2 remote for use with my 3100.  However, for such a relatively simple piece of plastic and electronics, these are so very expensive.  Here's what I've found:

Conic.net: $67.57
Streamline CPUs: $89.99
Trisoft.de: $97.67
Figlabs: $104.64

Good god!

Does anyone know a better place?  Or is willing to sell me one?

Security and Networking / Symbol La-4137, Doesn't Work On Cacko 1.23
« on: November 11, 2006, 08:24:46 pm »
Hi.  I'm reposting this thread here, in the hope that someone else will see it and help.  Any suggestion appreciated!

I'm running Cacko 1.23 on a 3100, and I cannot get my Symbol LA-4137 card working. If I plug it in, the text appears and tells me it was inserted, but then, nothing. The lights don't blink, iwconfig doesn't list it, and the networking app's connect button is grayed out. What should I do?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Map Spin Wheel To Volume Control On A 3100
« on: October 28, 2006, 07:47:02 pm »
I'm running OZ/Opie on my 3100 (spitz), and I'd like to use it as an mp3 player as I did when I used the Sharp ROM.  MP3 playback works,but the volume is adjustable, it seems, only through the commandline 'alsamixer'.  Coredump told me on IRC that the graphical mixers don't work with ALSA currently, and will be updated at somepoint, later.  Until then, is there anyway to map the little wheel to amixer commands that would increase and decrease my PCM mixer?  How would I do this?  Or, is there any other alternatives?  Thanks!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Wifi Troubles
« on: October 16, 2006, 02:13:05 pm »
hi, I have a C3100, running OZ/Opie 3.5.4.2, with a card 'cardctl ident' identifies as a D-Link DCF-660W, 0xd601, 0x0005.  I've been unable to get it to get an IP from my wireless router, or, when I assign it a static IP, ping the router.

It can scan and find my AP easily, but no actual data transfer happens.  I've confirmed that its not my wireless router, and I have run hrw's command to remove all the Orinoco drivers.  'dmesg' has nothing that stands out.

What else can I do?  This card worked with the Sharp ROM, but I really want to use OZ/Opie.  Any pointers are appreciated!

I am using KOrganizer on my desktop (Debian Sid, KDE 3.4) and KOrganizer on my 3100.  How do I sync the two?  What software do I use?  KitchenSync?  How do I configure it?  My WLAN is all set up, and both the desktop and the Z can ping each other and visit websites and everything...but I have no idea how to get them to sync!  Any help is appreciated.

Sharp ROMs / Mplayer Codecs?
« on: September 27, 2005, 10:07:46 pm »
I have (finally) gotten mplayer and kino2 working, but I can only seem to play vanilla mpeg files...even though I downloaded the codec pack from mplayerhq.hu (was this a good or bad idea)?  When I try to play a wmv file, it complains about the codec (wmv9mod something something) What should i do?

For Sale / Wanted / Fs: Zaurus 5600 250 Cpu
« on: September 06, 2005, 03:31:49 pm »
after the recent purchase of my Zaurus 3100 (yay!) I have decided to sell my 5600.  I cannot say that the unit is mint condition, but it may be useful to someone.

 - SD slot doesn't work.  I took it apart, and tried playing with it, and I lost the tiny spring.  So, now the SD slot will not eject a card if you insert one, it must be pulled out (quite difficult).  The SD still doesn't work.

 - The screen has a *tiny* scratch on the very right edge in the center, vertically.

 - The cradle and adapter is included, the CDRom or the Box is not.

 - I lost the original stylus (heh ), so you get a nice heavy metal pentopia stylus with an included ballpoint pen and hidden probe.

 - The lower left corner has a bit chipped off, merely a cosmetic detail

 - The case above the screen is a bit scratched, again, a minor cosmetic detail.

 - The unit is flashed with OZ 3.5.3, customized by yours truly.  The only issue is the suspend-on-left problem, I haven't gotten around to fixing it.

 - I'm also throwing in a 64mb CF card.

I can accept PayPal payments, and can be reached at 'liberant at goth dot net'.  I am located in New York, in the US.

I have no idea how much people will want to pay for this unit, so please email me with your offer.  I rarely login to my forums account, so I probably won't see your PM.  If an ROM developer would like this unit, I'll be happy to donate for free.

5x00 Hardware / Broken Sd Slot Thingy...
« on: May 04, 2005, 06:30:30 pm »
I have come to the conclusion that my SD slot thingamajig is broken, so I recently took my Z (a 5600) apart to take a look at the SD slot.  Everything looked fine (except for the fact that I dropped and lost the little metal pin in the slot, and now SD cards get stuck in the slot) on the surface.  So, my next step is to try and replace the whole SD circuit board thing.  Does anyone have any idea if I can take the circuit board from a 5600, or a 5500, and just plug it in?  Would that work?  Or should I send it in to Sharp for repair?  Will they replace it?  If so, who do I contact...and do I have to know how to speak Japanese?  Thanks!

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Opie-wordgame...where Is The Wordlist?
« on: April 19, 2005, 08:11:06 am »
I've read here that opie-wordgame uses a DAWG format for it's wordlist, and I want to use an official scrabble one...but, i have no idea where opie-wordgame keeps it's wordlist.  I've been adding words to it my self while playing, but this isn't nearly as much fun.  thanks!

Accessories / Qpegps Problems
« on: March 22, 2005, 10:10:16 pm »
I just got a haicom 303CF gps card, but i am having some trouble getting it to work.  I put in the card, and run gpsd -p /dev/ttyS3 -s 4800, but when I start qpegps, it is able to connect to gpsd fine, but is not able to detect a gps device.  This is strange, because I can get nmea readings if I telnet to localhost:2947, and type, for example, p for position.  What is wrong, and how do I fix it?  I would love to actually use my device.   I've maps and everything!

Accessories / Some Gps Questions
« on: March 16, 2005, 09:49:58 pm »
I'm considering buying a gps device for my 5600.  I have looked at the Haicom and ambicom devices, but they both have a cf interface...I would like to keep my cf slot free; are there any devices that can use the serial interface?  I understand that if I do use the serial interface, I need a special cable...wher could I get such a cable?

Thanks in advance!

5x00 Hardware / Sd Card Problem
« on: December 15, 2004, 07:15:39 am »
I am running oz+opie 3.5.2 on my 5600 (PXAA250).  I just bought a 128mb SD card (branded by 'SMART Modular Technologies'))), but whenever I insert it, my whole zaurus just locks up... I can't do anything with it.  Here is the output from dmesg, from insertion, to removal:

pxa_sd_wait_response: responce time out (cmd=55 MMC_STAT=0x2142)
pxa_sd_wait_id_response: responce time out (cmd=41 MMC_STAT=0x2142)
pxa_sd_wait_id_response: responce time out (cmd=01 MMC_STAT=0x2142)
wifi0: SW TICK stuck? bits=0x0 EvStat=8001 IntEn=e09f
wifi0: trying to recover from IRQ hang
pxa_sd_wait_response: card removed (cmd=01)
pxa_sd_wait_id_response: card removed (cmd=01)
pxa_sd_wait_id_response: card removed (cmd=01)
VFS: Disk change detected on device mmcd(60,1)
pxa_sd_wait_response: card removed (cmd=01)
pxa_sd_wait_id_response: card removed (cmd=01)
pxa_sd_wait_id_response: card removed (cmd=01)
VFS: Disk change detected on device mmcd(60,1)

Then, those last 4 lines repeat 10 or so times.  Immediately after I remove the card,  it un-freezes, and works fine.  *Any* ideas are appreciated; I really want to get this SD card to work.

Security and Networking / Samba mounting question...
« on: November 14, 2004, 08:41:35 pm »
I am running a Samba server on my desktop, and wish to mount a share on my zaurus (5600, oz 3.5.1).  I can access the shares easily, using smbclient, but I want to *mount* them.  I don't have the samba package installed, since i assumed it installed a samba server.  I don't have a smbmount command (nor have I been able to find which package provides smbmount) anywhere, only smbtree, smbclient, and smbpasswd.  How do I mount the share, like in /mnt ?  Any help appreciated.

Security and Networking / Troublw with DNS, DHCP, and my Zaurus
« on: November 13, 2004, 05:04:48 pm »
Latest OZ/Opie on a 5600, kernel 2.6 on Debian Sid, latest bind9 and dhcpd

Whenever I undock my zaurus, my usb0 goes down also, and dhcpd prints

[dhcpd] receive_packet failed on usb0: Network is down

to the log file.  (If I redock the zaurus, usb0 comes up, but does not get an ip) Then, I cannot get another ip unless I restart my dhcpd server.

When I do restart, I can only get an ip if i check and uncheck the dhcp checkbox in the network settings applet.  I do *not* get a new interface when I start and stop usb0 on the zaurus, nor when I refresh it.  My question: How can have the zaurus get an ip address whenever it docks, and not have the dhcp server poop out whenever usb0 goes down?

My dhcpd.conf:

subnet 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
 # --- default gateway
  option routers   192.168.0.1;
  option subnet-mask  255.255.255.0;
  option broadcast-address 192.168.0.255;

  option domain-name-servers 192.168.0.1;
  range    192.168.0.2 192.168.0.20;

  default-lease-time  21600;
  max-lease-time   86400;

subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
