So from what I can tell guys, there is not much point me waiting in the hope of a new model and should just get out my credit card now?

Do we know anything about what the C960 would supposedly contain? It's the first I've heard of it...

Thanks,
Matt

I've been holding off buying a C860 for a few months now, hoping that a new model will be released sometime... just wondered if anyone new something I didn't?

What I would ideally like is something like a C860 or C3000 but with builtin WiFi or Bluetooth (or both)...

I just know that the minute I order a C860, a new model will be announced :-)

UK / Mini A Usb Cable For Sl6000 In Uk?
« on: December 17, 2004, 06:36:46 am »
Some IRiver accessories are stocked in the UK by at URL=http://www.mp3players.co.uk/]http://www.mp3players.co.uk/[/URL], but unfortunately they don't seem to stock the mini-A cable though  Perhaps it would be worth an email to them to see if they could stock some though?

Probably unlikely, but might be worth a shot at least...

Qt/Qtopia / Screen Rotation Behavior
« on: December 17, 2004, 03:35:41 am »
Thanks for the reply, and you're right, I'll be able to figure out that it's changed from landscape to portrait mode and change the widgets etc, I don't have any problems in understanding that it is possible.

My question really is whether that is the right sort of thing to be doing? Do users expect that sort of behavior? Do other apps do that sort of thing? Or will all users just think that my software is a bit bizarre?

Qt/Qtopia / Screen Rotation Behavior
« on: December 16, 2004, 08:45:00 am »
Hi,

I don't yet own a Z, though I'm thinking of getting a C860 in the new year. I am already however starting to think about writing apps for it.

One thing that I wondered about was how best to handle screen rotation. It would seem to me sensible that when in landscape mode you might want to have a completely different layout than in portrait mode. Is this something which apps tend to do? In other words, they detect that the screen has been rotated and move the widgets around appropriately.

For example, I could think of times where in portrait mode you might want a combo list drop down at the top of the screen, but then when switching to landscape mode I might want to swap it for a list box down the left hand side. Is this something that people do, or would it seem weird to Z users?

Thanks,
Matt

I'm in Watford.

Don't have a Z yet, though probably will buy an 860 in the new year... just a
pity it doesn't have WiFi & bluetooth... just my luck they will bring out a clamshell
model with those as soon as I've bought the 860!

General Discussion / Z Is Dead, Wrong Polrity
« on: December 10, 2004, 02:40:04 am »
The power adapter I bought actually does have a notch which only allows the connectors to be added one way round...

Also, while we're at it, can we standardise on different voltages for different sized
connectors???

I often wonder why oh why manufacturers don't always design hardware
to work with any polarity input to avoid this sort of problem...

Surely this would be so easily done with a few diodes so cheaply and
would probably even save them money as they wouldn't have units to
repair under warranty from this problem...
