Zaurus - pdaXrom / Xfce4 Won't Load

I've checked the forums, and followed the numerous guides on how to install XFCE4.
Xfce4 starts up only once, and that's the first time after a clean install of pdaXrom beta3 and xfce4-4.2.2, but when I exit it (saved the session of course) and try to start Xfce4 again I get the following error:

> startxfce4
Loading /etc/sysconfig/keyboard/kernel.map


Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'
XIO:  fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
        after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I've looked for the 'fixed' font and can't find it in anywhere on my Z (c3100) but I can't understand why it would load XFCE4 the first time.

Oh yeah and Matchbox works without a problem.

Sharp ROMs / There Goes My Cacko ...

hm, hm, as for approved hardware.. i must've gotten lucky... tried 3 wifi cards, 5 bluetooth cards (4 different models), one lan card
all worked  

the linksys thing should work IMO (it is just a prism chipset..), did you try a cardctl insert 0 when the connect button is greyed out? do you have the network icon at all on the taskbar/tray? (it is white/yellowish and looks like a power plug, at least to me  )

The results of 'cardctl insert 0' is 'ioctl(): Device or resource busy'.

There is no networking icon in the taskbar.

Should I flash the firmware? Or just return it? Or is there something else I can try?

I have a Linksys WCF12 and it worked out of the box, no problems, no config files to change in both Cacko 1.22 and 1.23 (pdaXrom was a different story though).  I would suggest exchanging it.  I had a problem with a Netgear WiFi card a while ago and it was doing the resource busy error as well and I bought the WCF12 and had no problems since.

ever get wordpress blog to run?

I don't know what wordpress blog is, but I managed to get it allworking together by uninstalling all instances of apache and reinstalling apache-1.32 with php-4.x.  everything works fine again so I am happy.

I'm a little out of it here...what hardware connection would you use for a mic? Would it plug into the headphone jack or into the mini-usb? Anyone have a spec for a microphone that is confirmed to work with the c1000?

I've got Cacko 1.23 installed and it seems there is a voice-record app installed...anyone have any experience with it?

The voice-record app in Cacko1.23 works fine, I took the earbuds that sharp supplied with my 3100 and removed the left earbud and replaced it with a mic from a computer mic that had a cut cord (I think I ran over it with my chair).  and it's perfect for Kphone, which I have working with Vonage.  

The name brand for the mic won't matter as long as it is one of those 3.5" ones that plug into your computer and headphones are headphones.

I had that WiFi card a while ago and it had the same symptoms that you discribed, it eventually stopped being recognized and didn't work at all.  You might want to start looking on eBay for a new one

Can anyone help me with Apache/PHP not connecting to mysql?  I have the following installed:
apache2-php5-mysqlclient - from feed
mysql-3.23.49-8.7              - from Z Software Index
Both are running as can be seen from the following screens:

And the right mysql login and password are passed.  I had somehting very similar to this setup running on my 5500 on cacko 1.22but since I moved to my 3100 with cacko 1.23 full I can't connect to mysql fromn the webpages I made.

From the error msgs in the pics above php is not installed or not running (I don't know how to tell).

I've also tried the old apache-1.32/php package (or whatever the latest was prior to the apache2 package) and it does the samething. Maybe it's a permissions thing, but I don't know how to tell?

Hardware Mods / Z Sl5500 Serial To Serial Devices

Does anyone have any 5500 serial experience.  I do a lot of field work for my current job, and am required to do temp readings and use equip that has a serial interface and would like to have at least logging capailities on my Z.  I was thinking of modding my cradle to be used as the cradle and have a serial port come out where I can plug serial devices into.  Any thoughts?

Haven't tested new version, but have been running 2.2.4 on my 5500 using Cacko 1.22 ROM and rotate found on the Cacko feed.
My problem is whenever I rotate into landscape the kdelibs don't load and I can't run kopi/kapi/ompi/pwmpi.  Is there a way to manually load the libs so that it will work?

Oh error from terminal to load kopi is:
kopi: error while loading shared libaries: libmicrokdepim.so.2: cannot load shared object file:no such file or directory

I had it working when I was with Hentges ROM, 5500, had no problems but I don't remember the ROM number or anything else regarding on how it performed.

I'm using Cacko 1.22 right now and whenever I rotate the kdemicro libs aren't loaded, ldconfig doesn't do anything and I was wondering how I would manually load them so I could try that out.  Whenever I rotate my screen kopi/kapi/ompi won't load complaining that libkdemicro couldn't be found, I have to reboot to get the libs loaded again.

Sharp ROMs / Ko/pi And Rotate Sl5500

I'm unable to get KO/Pi or KA/Pi to open when I rotate my screen on my 5500.  I'm using SharpROM 3.13, and the qt-embedded-rotate-fix and rotate from Cacko, and using KO/Pi 2.1.4.  If I try in qKonsole I get the following error msg:

kopi: error while loading shared libraries: libmicrokdepim.so.2: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory

It works fine in portrait, is it just because the microkde libs don't support landscape on the 5500?

I Just d/l 2.1.5 maybe they'll work.

*edit: they didn't work same error, maybe it's because the libs are loaded after rotate, when I rotate back to portrait i get the same error and have to restart before kopi will work.

Accessories / New Keyboard For Irk

I have a Systech/Citipack/Sakar folding IRDA keyboard.  I had it for my Clie SJ-22.  I would now like to get it to work with my 5500 (Sharp 3.13).  I've tried every IRK version under the sun, and then some and the 0.11.0 with Pocketop comes the closest to working.  WHen I press a key on the keyboard and the 5500 is in a text editor random characters come up, it's totally random and sometime they repeat until i press another key or even the same key.
Can anyone help to get this to work?

does anyone know where the ipk's are for the pim?  I like the pim but not being able to use a spreadsheet program really limits this rom's use for me.

Sharp ROMs / Sharp 3.13 Sync With Anything?

I have a SL5500 and recently went back to Sharp 3.13, and now I can't sync with anything (Intellisync, QtDesktop, Multisync), I was able to sync when I have OZ3.5.2 and Opie1.2.  All I get from Intellisync/Multisync is an error that it can't make connection, on the Z side I get an error "Communication Aborted".  
I moved from Cacko/Hybrid/Opie so that I could sync and run HancomSheet, has anyone encountered this?
