I know we're offtopic... but at least there's activity!

Barry --  Ya.  Look at the android stuff.  All the recommendations
for programming on it are like anti-best-practices.  It's sad.
Android has potential -- but the iPhone is out there.

The pope recently released a list of new items that are considered
sins and I guess I'm going straight to hell because programming
in Objective-C++ was right at the top of the list.

Anyway, I like the zaurus form factor and keyboard.  I looked
at a lifebook, but the keyboard was just unusable.  I wish sharp
would come out with the next generation PDA, but I'm not
holding my breath.  We seem to be in a phase of incremental
improvements, and sooner or later there will be a big enough
jump that a PDA will look good again, vs a phone... but phones
are where the action is going to be for quite some time now.

Scott, what 'support just evaporated'???

Never knew that there was really any 'support' for the Z's other than this community here...

Unless you live in Japan....

What I mean is -- this place use to be hoppin' ... two pages of threads with updates almost
daily.    New software quite often -- things current... things that worked.

Bah, I wasn't trying to say that the iPhone is
*better* than the Z or whatever.  I liked the Z,
but the support just evaporated.  It had such
potential, but now mine has been a paper weight
for over a year.

I apologize -- when I looked at the site, I thought it was dead.

I'll grab the data off my dvd backups and set it back up to the site.

I haven't been able to figure out how to get a new rom or a
modern c++ + qt on my clamshell and it seemed that sharp
killed off the zaurus line -- so it just seemed like zaurus was dead.

I'll post here when I locate the date and have it online.

Scott
ps: if anyone wants to actively MANAGE a theme site, I'd
be willing to provide the access.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom Theme Site
« on: October 09, 2007, 03:41:00 pm »
the jedhead site with themes was like 98% of my traffic -- it was the only thing that was used...
but even then, it didn't seem like anything change or was updated on it in years.

If anyone is interested, I could bring that content back to let it be moved, etc.

Just let me know.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Gcc-4.2.1+glibc-2.6.1 Cross Toolchain Available
« on: August 28, 2007, 01:32:44 pm »
actually, it's thank you ... for the time and effort to work on this toolchain --
copying the files and letting them sit on a host with a fast link doesn't take
any real effort.

any time you have a new version, just pm me and give me a day or two
(to stop by here) and I'll copy it up.  If youneed faster turn around,
pm me and i'll tell you how to contact me.

I'm here -- pdaXrom doesn't have a lot of activity -- so I no longer check it daily.

I'm slurping down the files now and I'll post a link when it completes ... at 9% now.

Scott

ok:

should be faster to dl ...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / My Attempts To Build Qt4
« on: July 21, 2007, 01:12:22 pm »
I'm waiting anxiously -- I haven't upgraded my my zauruses in about 2 years now.
Having Qt4 available would be the trigger for me to upgrade.

I would love qt4 for the zaurus ...
last time I paid $100 to get it (Qt3?) compiled for pdaxrom.
I'll do it again for Qt4.
