Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxng

...just the day i'm selling my zaurus  

anyway don't forget you can yet "play" with debian on your zaurus, with kernel 2.6.24, and it is to me very usable
(just lacking a real web browser with java but it is a matter of time)

then once Meanie release his NG (Star Trek style!), it should be only a matter of untaring a new rootfs!
unhopefully i won't see it ... unless my ebay auction doesn't complete

OpenOffice!! I bump into a Fedora armel repo and find armel ports of OOos there!

These are armel ports compiled with the Java options. It's interesting to see how alien can manage that. It will be cool if we can finally manage to put OOo back in Debian/Zaurus again after the good old Pocketworkstation.

Asus Eee PC / Asus 3epc

when the asus fff comes out - the eee's successor (I'm making up the name) then I might be interested in one for my daughter. A bit more memory, a modestly larger screen higher res, and I think it'd be great... once I install a decent OS (suse :-)

by the way, i saw an eee in a shop which was either with a 2Go RAM or a 16Go SDHC.... do you think the eee needs 2GO RAM ?

i tried to convert an nmea dump file by :

1-dumping the data with

echo rw | nc localhost 2947 > test.dump


the test.dump file seems to contain some nmea data.

2-convert the dump to gpx (i also tried kml) with :

gpsbabel -i nmea -f test.dump -o gpx -F gpsd.gpx


but gpsbabel kept running for some minutes and finally hung with a memory problem....
anyone has yet tried ?
(i've 480 Mo swap file configured under debian...)

Did you create a new kernel with latest Google patches applied?
If not, then don't bother to try, it won't work on the kernel used in the previous release, since they made some major changes.

Ya. I've updated to newest kernel. Google do minor modify on new kernel. The major change is the binder driver.

so is it working now?

Thanks for the response; it has given me the definitive argument to go on with the purchase.

i'm not yet totally convinced....i'm still thinking about it.......

I'll be switching my htc tytn II by a cheap phone plus the fuji. The whole operation will take several weeks of ebaying, but the decision is now already made.

why not use the tytn2 as the terrible modem ?? i was thinking about it to replace my nokia6630

by the way who have a good address to buy the Fujitsu ? (dynamism is a bit expensive!

Yah i know about it, but i  play alot for money  
It results in some extra spending money every month :-)

Now I can take this online money-making game on the road .

yeah i understand... that's a pity for the zaurus : even on my Nokia 6630 i can play online real money nolimit texas holdem....for example on pokerroom...
