Sharp ROMs / No end of my pain! Flashing 5600, failing, no joy
« on: June 07, 2004, 02:54:11 pm »
Since I\'m fooling around with creating a custom ROM, I will post a NAND image of the default ROM (1.32) setup in it\'s default settings before doing a thing with it (before even resetting it), and will post it in a few days (possibly tonight depending on how much time I have). Then once that\'s done I\'ll go grab the default ROM\'s root and go wild with making a new ROM...

But the NAND backup should be coming sometime soon. I\'ll post link when I have it, since it can\'t hurt to have more than one NAND backup.

Sharp ROMs / restoring back to factory defaults from openzaurus
« on: June 03, 2004, 11:53:36 am »
You do have it plugged in when doing this?

Try re-flashing/re-resetting.

Or maybe go with the initrd.bin/zImage flash method (of the original ROM).

iPod does have a USB adapter available.

But it is mainly a firewire device.

And not to my knowledge they haven\'t done it.

Glue a 6000 to his hand. Glue a 6000 owner to his back. Glue a catapult to his feet and fire it repeatedly until (a) the gule breaks, or ( he somehow undoes his shoes in time to be fired into the distance.

This is a no flaws plan.

Software / What is the best Zaurus E-mail program?
« on: May 28, 2004, 08:10:56 pm »
Your best bet is QTMail (Sharp default). It supports everything you listed and is very easy to use. And I think it workd on the C860.

But I don\'t know what \"Outlook protocols\" are, so I dunno if it supports that.

Other than that, tkcMail might work (never used that one, so I can\'t really say).

Don\'t think so, since Kismet basically just sniffs for data being transfered over the WLAN, and doesn\'t actually access it.

The weight wouldn\'t matter because we use the money we saved on wifi cards and bought gym memberships.

Ahh, but grasshopper, the 5600 costs $300 (USD) less than a 6000.

And I\'ve never heard of a $300 (USD) Wireless CF card, so we save more.

... And promptly drop to the ground, hands crushed by the weight of 2 lightsabers, a brick and a sled.

5600: Screen orientation of a 6000 without the weight.

And theres more software.

Software / Decent Alternatives to Hancom Suite?
« on: May 28, 2004, 03:59:04 pm »
A missing symlink or something?

A symlink somewhere would probably solve this...

Maybe try:
find / | grep hancomsheet
cd /usr/bin/
ln -s /path/to/hancomsheet hancomsheet

Sharp ROMs / update.sh. Where can I find?
« on: May 28, 2004, 11:57:22 am »
The Zynergy package should include it.

Are you sure you\'re getting the 5600 version, not the 5500?

My gun is sharpened, my sword is loaded.

Erm...

Something like that.

Software / Missing addressbook fields;
« on: May 28, 2004, 03:06:11 am »
Depends on how this works... And if there\'s much difference from the Sharp PIMs on the 5600, but try (In Address Book)...

Option -] Field Settings (or a similar entry), and check off the fields you want, and re-order them. There might be a Pager field in the C860 Cacko ROM (there\'s a \"Work Pager\" in the 5600/Sharp PIM).

Hope this helps.

I suspect rather trying to (mis)use the community as support team for their corporate models (read 6000).

One of those things we just \"blech\" at. If the customers wish to become a part of the community (read: join the ZUG), then we\'ll support them. But if Sharp tries to misuse us, then let\'s not stand for it. ZUG is far better anyways.
