Zaurus - pdaXrom / Advice About The Zkbdd Driver On Pdaxii13 ...

Hi, good day.

Recently I updated my Z to pdaXii13, I have installed the Zkbdd (driver for IR keyboards).

The drivers works in test mode, but when I launch it in normal mode it does not do anything.
I thought that perhaps it was a problem with the Palm driver config file but I tried with the other drivers and I got the same result. Besides I searched on the forums and I found that another user got the same problem with other IR model keyboard.

I will really appreciate any advice about this, I do not know what could be wrong.

It seems that Sharp still remembers the Zaurus, they release new models of their "e-dictionnaries", but just for Korea:

By the way someone knows where I could find information about how to build a motherboard, last night I was thinking "mmm Why should we wait till some corporation release a real Zaurus succesor??, I know, build one by oneself must be expensive, but could be possible", so what do you think??

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pose On Pdaxrom Beta3 (screenshot)..

Hi, good day.

A "few" weeks ago I tried to compile POSE (Palm OS Emulator) for Zaurus (using pdaXrom Beta3).

I did the best I could, the binary works, but when I try to load the Palm ROM I get a error message. I have attached a screenshot.

I do not know what I could do to fix it, any adivice will be appreciated.

By the way, to compile POSE, it must be done on the Zaurus because it requieres FLUID which is compiled and used on the fly when you compile POSE.

I apply a couple of patches to make it works, if anybody want try I can upload the patches.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Question With Fltk And Their Ui Builder Fluid

Hi, good Day.

A few weeks ago I wrote a post here about compile Palm OS Emulator (POSE) for Z, I got an answer by "plcg", thanks!:

Well, the second part of the history is that I could not compile it, there are different ways to do it, but no one works, summary reasons:

1) POSE needs FLTK, it works on Z, but the problem is that POSE also needs the FLTK's UI builder, called FLUID, without it there is no way to compile it.

2) The FLTK version as .ipk (1.1.4) do not include FLUID, so it is necessary to compile from source, the problem here is that just one version of FLTK compile with FLUID on Zaurus, it is the fltk-1.1.7 version, I tried with the other version and fail, mainly due to FLUID.

3) Besides There is no way (well I do not know a way to do it) to use a cross compiler to create the .ipk on a PC, mainly because FLUID needs to be executed when you run "make", but if you do that on a PC the binary cannnot be executed  so the package "must be compiled on Z".
(I tried it using the /opt/cross/arm/3.4.6-xscale-softvfp-akita/ cross compiler method)

4) Well, once I got the FLTK working with FLUID on Z(version 1.1.7), next step si compile POSE, ups! the problem is the memory (I think), if you run "make" running X, you will got a compiler error, but if you close the X session and run "make" from console mode the compiler works better but finally it falls, it describes a gcc error, so I think that it needs more memory to compile it.

Well those are my conclusion, maybe I am doing something wrong, Any advice of you will be really apreciated, I would like to build a POSE package to share, because I think that there are really useful Palm's apps that could be used on Z.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Problem With Fltk Trying To Comple Pose

Hi, good day.

I am trying to compile POSE (PalmOS Emulator) for pdaXrom, I download the source of pose and install the FLTK from this feed: http://www.pdaxrom.org/contrib/2or0/

When I try to configure it to make it, I got this:

But I already installed FLTK, I do not know if I am missing something, any advice?
I am doing this because I could not find any IPK of POSE.
By the way, I am doing that on a C3100 running pdaxrom 1.3

Spain / Ayuda Por Favor, Mi Sl-c3100 No Enciende!

Hola, buen día.

Disculpen, pero necesito ayuda, ayer me llego mi Zaurus SL-C3100 de japon y todo iva bien, le cambie la ROM y le puse pdaXrom, oviamente hice varios intentos hasta que me salio ponerle el sistema. Hoy pensaba instalarle unos programas asi que la conecte a la corriente AC y se inicio el sistema, la pdaXrom empezo bien, de repente despues de montar unos modulos la pantalla se puso blanca y nada reaccionaba.

Lo que hice fue desconectar de la corriente y se apago, la volvi a conectar y no encendio, estube intentando todas las combinaciones de teclas D+M, D+C, en fin lo que aparece para que saliera aunque sea el sistema de emergia, y nada, no reacciona, no prende ni una luz, parece muerta!

No se que puedo haberle pasado, todo estaba bien inclusive cuando le instale pdaXrom tuve que hacerlo en varios intentos, pero siempre podria entrar a los modos de emergencia y ahora no reacciona, simplemente nada enciende.

Por favor podrian aconsejarme que hacer?? que pudo haber pasado?Ya revise todo, cables, corriente, bateria y todo esta bien, se supone que es nueva!!!Lo que mas me preocupa es que inverti todos mis ahorros en ella y seria muy complicado  no podria enviarla de nuevo a Japon.

Les agradecere mucho lo que me pudieran aconsejar.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Sl-c3100 Don't Power On, Please Help!

Hi friends.

I am sorry, but I really need your help, yesterday I got my Zaurus SL-C3100, it worked fine, at night I install pdaXrom and it start fine, today morning I was thinking about install it other programas, so I connect the Zaurus to the AC and pdaXrom started fine, suddenly when the system stay at loadding modules, the screen becomes white and nothing respond, so I decided turn off the power to restart again.

But when I connect the AC again it does not work, it seems to be die!!!
I try to control me and read as much I could about it, I try all the key combitations to start the emergy system and the diagnostics menu, but it does not work yet!

When I installed pdaXrom I use all the key combitations and works fine, even I install the TRIsoft Sharp ROM, but I think that pdaXrom could be better for me. The point is that now the Zaurus seems to be die, nothing respond

Please could you help?? any advice? I do not understand what happend.
I do not what to do, I expend all my money on this and I cannot send it to japan.

Les escribo con motivo de preguntarles en base a su experiencia, cuando creen que Sharp pudiera lanzar un nuevo modelo de Zaurus??

Creen que haya una continuacion de la serie SL-Cxxx?

Hat algun evento en los proximos meses donde se pudiera hacer la presentacion de una nueva Z, tal vez septiembre o Octubre??

General Discussion / Possible Dates Of A New Zaurus Release?

Hi, good day friends!

Today I woke up with a doubt in my mind

When will we see a new release of Zaurus??

To feel the hope of a significant advance in the SL-Cxxx serie.
I mean, with the release of the C3100 was nice for the color and the 128Mb of Flash Memory, but being objective about the release there wasn't a great release.
Like other user here I think that the 64Mb of RAM actually is not enough, apps like FireFox and other requires more memory (or it scratch), I read about the possibility to use the new 6Gb Hitachi hard drive.

But I don't know, it is just a rumor, my point is this:

When (talking about dates) could we see a new Zaurus release??
I sow recently that the price of the C3100 is lower that a couple weeks ago.
Could be september?, Octuber?.... (I hope before november) What do you think??

Anybody knows about an event where could be possible a new release of Zaurus??
A seller told me that it is possible that when the campaign of the www.7zaurus.com had been finished, Sharp could produce Zaurus of colors to anyone.

Well, I would like to know about a possible date, you know to make my calendar and save money for that  

or C3100 is the end of the SL-Cxxx serie?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Could Be The Z Sl-c3100 A Trap?

Hi friends, good day

I create this topic because there is something that doesn't let me put my head on the pillow, why??

Well, the last year was release the SL-C3000 (november) and I thought it's time to buy a new Zaurus, but I hadn't enough money, so I had to wait, but few months later the SL-C1000 was release (march), I thought It is a nice option (because I prefer the dark colors) and less expensive.
But I didn't but it because the rumors (ooh yes! god bless the rumors) about a new model (with WiFi... etc..etc), well it didn't happen, then arrive the SL-C3100 but the "new" features just was the color and the flash memory, why?

I try to think " why a corporate like Sharp release the models that they kills each other?" I mean:
you could be agree that the SL-C3100 kills the C3000 series, and surely all develoment about C3000.

Nowadays I have the money to buy the SL-C3100, but I am really worry to buy a product that could be dead in few months  
What do you think about the life of this new device??
Could be possible tha Sharp have a secret device to release soon? and that is the reason that only add few features to their models just to keep sales.

What do you think about this??
Why could be a good reason to get a SL-C3100?
Have really the SL-C3100 a good future? (or it will die on few months)

Could you give me an advice, It makes me feel afraid and I don't know what to do.

how everybody knows today was release (to sale) the Zaurus SL-C3100, but also there is another release, the site called:

On this site you can see seven "new models" of Zaurus, well it is not absolutly true, I mean there is new colors for the Zaurus SL-C3100, that is nice, isn't??

After all, the change of C3000 model to C3100 just was the flash memory and the color
please take a look at this site, I love the red model it looks great (I think).
But unfortunelly I don''t know japanese language, anybody could be nice to tell me how could be possible to get one Zaurus SL-C3100 with other cover color?? (like red or blue

Anybody could explain it?

Accessories / An External Usb Cd's Reader For The Sl-cxxxx Model

Hi group!, good day!
How you know Zaurus is a great gadget, and the posibility to plug accessories make it greater!
I think that the only thing that need a Zaurus (besides the network) is a CD's reader/writer unit.

Any of you had prove an external USB CD's reader/writer?
To be more exact, I am interesting to get a device like this:

This baby is a External optical drive, it not only can read and write your CD's, and read DVD's too, but also you can use it like Discman; because it is able to play your music CDs, and MP3 CD's, cool, don't?

I don't know other devices like this, more important is that I had not found any references if this device works with Linux. So my friends, Could you give me an advice please.

Does anybody know other device like this?? (that maybe works with linux)

My goal is to find a device like this (or maybe itself) that works with Linux.
That is because if it works with Linux, it must works with Zaurus (I guess)

Mexico / Como Traer Una Zaurus A Mexico

Hola a todos, buen dia,
hoy me tope con un pequeño inconveniente para adquirir la Zaurus:
Habia pensado que por medio de la importadora Dynamism (http://www.dynamism.com/sl-c3000/), seria "facil" adquirir una Zaurus aqui en Mexico, pero por desgracia hoy conoci el concepto de "impuestos aduanales" y vaya que lo conoci:
Adquirir unos productos en EUA (thinkgeek.com) una compra de $86 USD, ya con gastos de envio, pero o sorpresa, ayer que llego el paquete a la casa, resulta que tuve que pagar $320 pesos a razon de impuestos aduanales, tuve que pagarlos (ya que remedio!).

Pero lo que realmente me preocupo y me preocupa (y casi no me dejo dormir) es la pregunta:
Si por comprar algo de $86 USD me cobraron $350 de aduana, ¿cuantó tendré que pagar por una Zaurus con un valor de $820 USD.

Hable con las personas que se encargan de hacer la entrega en la aduana y me comentan que importar un equipo asi es algo dificil, sobre todo por el valor del equipo independientemente del tamaño, pero en un descuido podria estar pagando mas del 100% del valor del producto por costos aduanales.
Opciones; no hay muchas realmente:
1) Ir a Japon por ella, puess como que no
2) El agente de aduana me recomendo asociarme con alguien que tenga RFC de importador, de esta forma los cargos de impuestos se le hacen a él, pero como son deducibles de impuestos para ellos no hay problema.

Realmente, creo que hasta es bueno que me haya pasado esto ahorita, pero sigo sin estar tranquilo, ojala alguno de ustedes pueda dar alguna opcion, o siendo un poco abusivo, si alguien piensa ir a Japon, hay que avise, realmente no puedo creer todo el robo que hacen en las aduanas, pero bueno, ojala haya una solución.

Si alguno de ustedes ha tenido un problema similar y ha logrado solucionarlo o tiene alguna forma de poder solucionar esto, le agradecere lo comente en este foro.

Creo que es importante recalcar que no se trata de evadir impuestos, pero es ridiculo!!!, uno hace un exfuerzo por ahorrar una cantidad y resulta que al final si te compras una Zaurus, le terminarias regalando otra igual a la aduana (en costo).
