Zaurus - pdaXrom / Qtopia For Pdaxrom?
« on: March 29, 2006, 08:44:41 am »
Hi everybudy, it took a while, but here are the screenshots.
I can say that yes, it is slow, but I think it is possible to do some improvement in the virtual frame buffer to speed up the cursor response.

Best regards

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Qtopia For Pdaxrom?
« on: March 01, 2006, 10:48:09 am »
Thanks for the command to take screenshots.

I didn't use the yopy patch, I took the qtopia sourcecode, made some modification to a few configuration files and scripts, so the build system thought that the destination was a x86 disribution. Than I compiled the qt/e libraries and utilities native on the zaurus and then I cross compiled qtopia on my desktop. On the zaurus, as the display device, I use a utility called qvfb, which is part of qt.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Qtopia For Pdaxrom?
« on: March 01, 2006, 10:15:02 am »
Hi everybudy

I have been playing around with qtopia on top of pdaxom. I succeded, I compiled the full distribution of qtopia and got it running on pdaxrom, that means the full desktop running on a windows.
If somebody could tell me about an utility to take screenshots, I will post some.
Currently I'm working on two packages, one with the complete desktop and another one with the libraries for developement.

Best Regards

Hi everyone, is there any chance to speed up the access to a Ultra high speed SD card. I bought a Sandisk Extreme III form my C860 but reading and writing to the card didn't speed up. Maybe is there some parameteres in the driver to tweak.

« on: September 26, 2005, 03:08:51 am »
Hi everyone, for those who want try another nice pdf reader, here are three package:

Evince 0.4.0 : document viewer from gnome
Poppler 0.4.2: library for render pdf's
freetype 2.1.10: I compiled a fresh freetype library, because the one which is in the current feed caused evince to crash.

Some notes about avince:
- I didn't know where to put the stock_leave-fullscrean icon in the package
- Text selection cause the full page to go blank, I saw this problem in my pc to.

Stay tuned, xchm is on the way.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc11 Sdk + Libiconv
« on: September 21, 2005, 08:14:49 pm »
Hi again, I solved my problems using the cross SDK on my Debian unstable. I took the libiconv2 from the live cd ant put it on /opt/cross/arm/3.4.4-xscale-softvfp/lib
To make any cross compilation easier I created a special account ( podaxrom ), aded some enviroment variables and created a shell scrpt to do source configuration.
Attached is the libiconv, my enviroment variable and the shell.

good luck

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Linux 2.6
« on: September 21, 2005, 02:58:33 pm »
Hi, a few month ago I tried to run pdaxrom using the kernel. I replaced in the updater files from pdaxrom the files related to the kernel with the ones from OZ, but at boot time I got a error about a missing terminal.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc11 Sdk + Libiconv
« on: September 21, 2005, 12:57:47 pm »
Hi,

I got the same problem with the SDK when I tried to use it in a regular distribution ( debian unstable ). So I followed the instruction at the pdaxrom homepage and I used the live CD for x86. The problem with libiconv was solved, but there are some some library resolution problem relatet with path's that don't exist and you can't create it, there ar also some missing  package ( I don't remeber exactly which one).
Maybe you could use the native sdk,it is slower, but I have allready compile some packages without any problem.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Linux 2.6
« on: May 18, 2005, 05:38:33 pm »
Hi everybody, for the ones who are interestd in kernel 2.6 for the zaurus, at the openzaurus homepage is the following link

http://www.rpsys.net/openzaurus/

This kernel was released for Opie OZ 3.53.

Could somebody give some tips to modify the kernel rule of pdaxbuilder to build this src/patches.
Is there something else to be done, to pack a pdaxrom image using this kernel?

If I can, I will be glad to be usefull.

Best regards

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kathrin-rc9 Sdk
« on: May 03, 2005, 03:15:32 am »
Hi everybudy, for all the ones who could get this kind of error, I solved it by recomiling a new toolchain using pdaXrom-builder-22.20_30.01.05.
After that,  with the following minor adjustemen I was able to compile some packages:

1.- glibc.make downlods link broken
2.- gtk22.make version upgrade
3.- glib22.make version adjustment ( malor, minor and micro )

On my first try,  was unable to compile the kernel ( some assembler error, I will try it another day ).

My Zaurus is a c860 and my linux box is a debian sarge.

Best regards

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kathrin-rc9 Sdk

Hi everybudy, I'm happy using my zaurus with the latest pdaxrom, the best rom I tried. After a few day I decided to port my owns appl. (maybe evince, because xpdf fails to open a pdf )  to pdaxrom, for that I tried:

pdaxromsdk-1.1.0-softfloat.tar

But when I try to compile something I get errors like this:

/opt/zaurus/cross/arm/3.3.2-vfp/bin/../lib/gcc-lib/armv5tel-cacko-linux/3.3.2/../../../../armv5tel-cacko-linux/bin/as: Symbol `bfd_abs_section' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
/opt/zaurus/cross/arm/3.3.2-vfp/bin/../lib/gcc-lib/armv5tel-cacko-linux/3.3.2/../../../../armv5tel-cacko-linux/bin/as: Symbol `bfd_und_section' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
/opt/zaurus/cross/arm/3.3.2-vfp/bin/../lib/gcc-lib/armv5tel-cacko-linux/3.3.2/../../../../armv5tel-cacko-linux/bin/as: Symbol `bfd_com_section' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
Assembler messages:
FATAL: can't create /tmp/ccppN4Be.o: Invalid bfd target

And whe I run the assembler directly:

armv5tel-linux-as: Symbol `bfd_abs_section' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
armv5tel-linux-as: Symbol `bfd_und_section' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
armv5tel-linux-as: Symbol `bfd_com_section' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
GNU assembler version 2.15 (armv5tel-cacko-linux) using BFD version 2.15
Assembler messages:
FATAL: can't create a.out: Invalid bfd target

Somebody could tell what is wrong?

Best regards
