I am owner C1000 and I have to say that beta1 is most stable version here. Nor beta3 nor beta4 nor 121. So I am stuck to beta1 and I did not have any problems to run beta3 appz. And when I will have I can put required libraries (no other differences between beta1 and beta3 are for runnig appz) easily into beta1.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I'm running beta3 on a C1000 and I haven't noticed any issues with "instability."  Beta4 was challenging, so I "retro-graded" back to beta3 for the moment.  Besides some unresolved issues with keymapping on an external keyboard, there is very little that I can complain about.

What are / were the specific issues you experienced with beta3 on a C1000?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=152458\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I could not see any accented characters in justreader in cp1250.
No problem in beta1. Working great from install.
What's main differences between beta1 and beta3?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=152491\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Try fbreader. [a href=\"http://only.mawhrin.net/fbreader/]http://only.mawhrin.net/fbreader/[/url]
It's much better than justreader.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=152494\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Anyway I will try in beta3 ...  thnx for info ...

actually, the ONLY stable release on sl-c860 is BETA1 but....--- UHH... OPS! ----.... that's the ONLY release no one is developing for. Someone told that beta3 is good on 860, so everyone thinks that building apps for beta 3 and 4 is ok for any user. There are news in here today: beta 3 ISN'T stable AT ALL on 860. That's why I'm an extremely sad zaurus user at the moment.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxii13 On Nand
« on: January 25, 2007, 01:49:15 pm »
Hello.

After long time I start to play today with flashing varius versions of pdaxrom.
I've tried bet3 and xii13 on my c1000.

Found various bugs I want to report. I'm back to beta1.

1) depmod failed
when I run this binary I get
Floating point exception

Is it same binary as in beta1/beta3?
But I didn't mentioned any problem with missing depmod probram.

2)
Fn +1,2,3,4 does not work from scratch ... I have to edit /usr/X11R6/bin/startx and put parameter -kb instead +kb. OK can fix it without problem

3) When rotating screen wallpaper is somehow messed up and it ends so default X background is seen above panel. How to fix it? I know beta1 is rotating without this problem.

4) silkscreen buttons. When I run dillo by push home button it starts, but it cannot be closed. And also all windows cannot be closed and you cannot type into windows.
Mail button is OK also dillo when I run it from Internet menu shortcut. How to fix this bug?

5) I am using Z for readin ebooks. When I install justreades and I set codepage to cp1250 (windows eastern european - all my books are encoded in cp1250) som accented characters are _not_ shown instead of some are small rectangles. I think it is some problem in i18n but in beta 1 cp1250 encoding in justreader it is working from scratch.

6) One cosmetic "bug". Window titles are written with very small font. Where to size it up a little bit?

Can someone help me solve those problems? I am back in beta1 - restored from NAND backup.

User Request for Applications / Descent (d2x) On Zaurus Possible?
« on: January 21, 2007, 09:16:44 am »
Quote
I tried d2x out last week and I had exactly the same problem as merli. It compiles OK, it shows the menus and finds the descent maps/data files but crashes when the game should start.

d2x runs on the GP2X so it must be possible to get running on the Z- I'd love to play Descent under pdaXii13!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=151870\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I think to use right flags for alignment of structures will help.... align on 32 bit etc ...

NOOOOOO!!!  DON"T ASAP IT!!
Beta4 was realeased too soon, and so was rc121.  release something as stable and functional as beta1/beta3  til then, unless it is just a matter of geting testers and feedback
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=151491\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

As planned we were going release another beta... with the hopes of having just about all the LONG LIST of bugs fixed... then fix any little issues lingering... then push out a stable release...

Well for me... I dont know what bugs will hang around in the c700, c750, c760, c860, c3100 and c3200 since I only have one device...

I can only hope that I change I make for my c1000 wont break any of the other models...

Late
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=151534\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Will be USB NET to windows machine fixed in kernel?
Quite important feature for many ppl here ...

My another wishes for next pdaxrom version:
updated SDL lib for using pxa framebuffer
updated mplayer for using pxa framebuffer

This appears to be the issue - firstly your end is asking for pcomp and accomp which is rejected at the remote server (probably not an issue), and the remote server is asking for you to authenticate via PAP which you are refusing to do. I'm not sure what the line 'No auth is possible' means, but I'd start by making sure that you have your pap-secrets file set up correctly and the ppp settings are correct for PAP authentication (don't require the remote server to authenticate itself though).
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=151108\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

It is strange because I am not using any authentication when connecting from windows XP or direct from phone. I will play with some ppp parameters ...

so my file /etc/ppp/pap-secters was clear

Thnx anyway

!!! Problem solved !!!

There is some problem for LCP to negotiate asyncmap with this phone.
obscured ppp option default-asyncmap solved problem.

Still I dont know why network config applet didnt find DUN on this Samsung mobile phone and I had to make hacks manually. Is there source code to that binary somewhere? Maybe I _could_ fix it :-)

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Can't Get Bt Dun Working With Samsung Sgh-i310
« on: January 13, 2007, 09:25:56 am »
Hello

I have quite strange problem I cannot solve. Recently I got (as christmas gift from my wife) Windows Mobile 5 smarphone Samsung SGH i310. I am trying to get Zaurus DUN to Internet through Bluetooth Billlonton CF card. I had working Internet connection with Sony Eriscon T610 without any problem also Nokia 6230i without problem except connection last only 1 minute (I think problem in Nokia BT module). I got both working through PPP Modem config application. So I thought everything will be the same also with SGH i310. I was very wrong!

First I tried this config application and in Modem tab searched for BT device. I got " Can't get DUN info.
So i tried to hack it manually! Tried...

# hcitool scan
Scanning ...
        00:17:D5:1B:84:F0       misik

OK I see mobile

# sdptool search DUN
Inquiring ...
Searching for DUN on 00:17:D5:1B:84:F0 ...

So DUN is there... on channel 4. So I manually edited

You would tell ... wrong phone .......
BUT from M$ Windows XP (my notebook) with _same_ Billionton BT card in PCMCIA reduction EVERYTHING WORKS just from scratch without any problem. So I think Win XP has other options in pppd which zaurus does not have.

Please help me. Where I am doing mistake?  What obscured option in pppd I have to turn on to get it working?

Thnx much for any clue or help.

PS: Internet direcctly from phone also works OK.

This thread is for sharing your favorite games. Links are always nice.

I personally like Atomic Tanks, mostly because it's a great time waster and doesn't take long to start up. Being able to add your own weapons is also nice.

Found here: http://zaurus.vivaphp.net/pdaxrom/misc/
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=146894\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I always like the classic doom2 and quake2 available from the main pdaXrom feeds.

haven't had much time to play many games on the Z yet, but ideas of what is playable and fun on the Zaurus are more than welcome and when I find some time, I will try some of them out as well

As far as games go I really like doing emulators.  I wish I could find a really good Atari ST and Amiga emulator.

I think adding more MAME support(better rom support) would be fun to play with as well.

There is very good hatari (ST emulator) with good performance but you have to use usb mouse to avoid unsync cursor and touch screen.
Also Basilisk is emu with nice speed for older MACs
I didn't find good emu for amiga, all I compiled or tried were very slow.

My favorite games are DROD and Filets.I'd play DukeNukem also but it has problem with save/load and Quake II with mouse control. Warcraft II through stratagus is a bit slow.
I like SNES (Final Fantasy series) and recently abandoned zxpsx I'd like to see save state and switch CD features to be FF VII fully playable.

I'd like to play Knights Of Xentar (old DOS RPG) through dosbox but is toooo slooow to play.

Maybe start emulator thread would be also good idea

Hello

Is there _any_ possibility to sync _any_ PIM program running on pdaxrom with MS exchange? We are using in my company also Exchange throuch web access so evolution extension for exchange should work too. Please help. I need PIM because I don't have good memory for _normal_ life so I'd like to use Z as calendar addressbook etc ...  and I don't wnat to use Cacko Qtopia ROM where PIM sync just works through intellisync. Thnx for help.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Troubleshooting Segmentation Faults

Yes, it's on the C1000.
I have only run into one command that triggers the crash:
gphoto2 --set-config capture=on
Without this I can't use the camera for remote capture which was the whole plan with my Z.
It works fine w. Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) on my laptop, so the code is ok, except when being compiled on the Z.
An example of ARM architecture issues:
http://www.arm.com/support/faqdev/1228.html  (See last paragraph, 'Porting code...')

But the compile toolchain could be the problem too? Here's an example of what can happen:
http://www.arm.com/support/faqdev/1247.html
I know this applies to a different toolchain, but the symptoms appear to be exactly what I'm seeing. Debugging with GDB I can't trace the code all the way to the actual crash, and backtraces fail, running into null pointers in the stack.

One suggestion I got from the gPhoto people was trying to use different compile flags. I haven't had success, but maybe it could resolve issues for others. Here's a list of ARM specific compile flags:
http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-3.4.5/gcc/ARM-Options.html

Finally I have a question. I just stumbled across GNU ARM which is a somewhat newer toolchain than the zgcc-3.4.5 I'm using now. Is it possible (and not overly complicated) to use this to compile programs for pdaXrom on the Z??

I am not developer but there is problem in arm with structure alignment which is different as in X86 architecture. So some structures can be misinterpreted.
I have problem with this issue in my port of Dukenukem3d which runs ok only save/load does not works as it tries too put game structures directly to file. Also have similar problem with port of descent2 which freezes when you get hit and some bitmap structures tries to appear on screen.
You can try to use  __attribute__((packed)) when you define some structures or try to compile with param -fpack-stuct, but I can say I tried both methods with no success.

Maybe some or core Zaurus and kernel arm developers could say more about this problem and propose method to correct code to be portable to arm.
This url tries to explain but I still too dumb to know what to do with code [a href=\"http://netwinder.osuosl.org/users/b/brianbr/public_html/alignment.html]http://netwinder.osuosl.org/users/b/brianb.../alignment.html[/url].

I would be glad if information if this thred will find solution and fix problem also with gphoto and other my ports. Please if there is someone who really understand what's going on help us.
