Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oe Mirror Dead?
« on: June 22, 2006, 10:30:51 pm »
The Netherlands mirror of OpenEmbedded has been by far the fastest and most up-to-date available to me. However, connections to ewi546.ewi.utwente.nl have been timing out here for several days. I've been able to get some things from other sources but now it's preventing me from using bitbake because it wants to download a specific Qt/Embedded snapshot and can't so it dies. Does anyone know what's going on here (if anything) and when it will be fixed?

Thanks.

Hi there,

I've since reproduced this behaviour on regular laptop computer with Debian sid, running kernel 2.6.16 with the in-tree HostAP drivers and wpa_supplicant v0.4.9. So this doesn't appear to be an OpenZaurus-specific problem. I'll be taking my issue to the hostap mailing list. Thanks for the help!

Andrew

Additionally, I tried a couple of different firmware versions (all higher than 1.7.0), and even upgraded to the test 2.6 kernel images available from hentges.net. The behavior is still the same...

Does your card has firmware atleast 1.7.0?

More info in OZ FAQ in wiki.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=130769\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

The label on the back says firmware 1.7.4, but it is a Prism3-style card, which means the firmware is downloaded to volatile memory from the Z. That firmware, I believe, is 1.8.4. At least that's what I recall from the output of hostap_fw_load.

I have configured my poodle with OPIE and a SanDisk ConnectPlus to use wpa_supplicant to connect to my WPA-Enterprise network. First, I updated wpa-supplicant,hostap-modules, and hostap-modules-cs. Then, I put the following stanza in /etc/network/interfaces:

Code: [Select]
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
  wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
  wpa-driver hostap

Note the problem I'm going to describe doesn't seem to be affected by the choice of wpa_supplicant driver--either 'hostap' or 'wext' makes it act the same. Putting the card in the machine makes it blink rapidly (loading firmware) and then blink slowly. It is supposed to go solid when associated but this never happens. Running wpa_supplicant manually, or running 'ifup wlan0', gets the following output:

Code: [Select]
root@poodle:/etc/network# wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dwext -dd

State: ASSOCIATING -> ASSOCIATING

The block in between "State: SCANNING->ASSOCIATING" and "State: ASSOCIATING->ASSOCIATING" repeats until you stop it. It seems to never be able to associate with the network. There isn't anything wrong with the network AFAIK, our two ThinkPad Linux laptops (ipw2200), my Nokia 770, and a Windows XP machine all connect fine. The wpa_supplicant.conf on the Z is as follows:

Code: [Select]
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe Sync W/evolution (oz 3.5.4)
« on: May 21, 2006, 02:41:18 pm »
I'm having problems syncing my collie running OZ/GPE 3.5.4 with Evolution, see here for complete details. Basically it looks like an updated libmimedir on the Z might help. I grabbed the update from the feed but it doesn't seem to work any differently when syncing. Does libmimedir have the patch described in that thread now? I tried to build an updated package using BitBake but it built all the dependencies and then failed on the configure step for libmimedir.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Status Of 2.6 Kernels For Collie/poodle
« on: December 12, 2005, 05:22:25 pm »
Does anyone know what the MMC/SD card situation is/will be for 2.6 on collie? Has someone looked at the internals of the binary 2.4 driver to write a 2.6 version? I remember reading somewhere that it was possible to load 2.4 module binaries into a 2.6 kernel with some sort of parameter voodoo, don't know if that's true or not.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpsdrive With Oz/gpe 3.5.4rc

I have installed GpsDrive on my SL-5500 running OZ/GPE 3.5.4rc. It is very, very slow and frequently freezes the entire system. I haven't been able to configure my GPS yet but is there anything I can do to speed up GpsDrive or is the SL-5500 not powerful enough to run this program well? I have a 32-32 kernel.

Much snappier with 64-0 kernel and GpsDrive on an SD card...

FWIW, kopi handles exception quite well. HTH
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96653\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I'd never heard of this. Two questions:

- Can I sync with Evolution? From what I understand Kopi uses an iCalendar file to store your appointements so maybe this would work with OpenSync's file plugin.
- Are there .ipk or ARM .debs available somewhere?

I wish I had time to investigate myself   .

Thanks,
Andrew

Never mind. It appears that kopi is in the OpenZaurus archive...oh well.

Standard Palm DateBook does not allow to exceptions too...

as usual I can tell - 'patches welcome'
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96646\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

My Tungsten E2 has support for this. You simply delete the appointments in the recurring series you don't want and it asks you: Delete all, current, or future appointment(s)? IIRC my Palm IIIxe had this, so I don't know where you get the idea that Palm's datebook doesn't support this.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Exceptions To Recurring Events
« on: September 21, 2005, 09:01:52 pm »
http://opie-bugs.oszine.de/view.php?id=1636

This was reported several months ago and it seems no one, much less any Opie developers, is aware of this. I am posting this here in the hope that someone who contributes to the Opie project would see it. Exceptions to recurring appointments is an important practical feature that I can't do without, so right now I'm stuck using a Palm Pilot for everyday management and relegating my Z to "fun" stuff like Gaim over Wi-Fi. If someone in Opie-land is already aware of this request, I apologize--I don't mean to pester anyone but rather it does seem no one is even aware that the request exists.

Thanks,
Andrew

Thanks.

It would be useful if ipkg told me that dependencies were why it had "nothing to do"...
