Mac Issues / Zmacsync Ssh Problem

Running Cacko/Crow ROM (64/0 home on SD) here.

Installed ZMacSync v2.04.
I was able to connect and do a fresh sync for one time.
After that nothing more happens.

I get the following message:

ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
Please check openssh-server installation.

Tried to reinstall the ssh_server but this did not help.

In terminal typing:
#su
#/etc/rc.d/init.d/ssh start

issue a message
Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_key
Disabling protocol version 1. Could not load host key
Privilege separation under sshd does not exits

How can a track the problem...any suggestions?

Sharp ROMs / Deleting Rom Applications

The question says it all...

Just installed Cacko/Crow (64/0) and would like to delete some unused apps installed with this ROM like:
- calculator
- voice recorder
- calendar
- address book
- todo list

Any way to completely delete this apps or the best I can do is hide then with Tab Settings?

Sharp ROMs / Autostart / Stop Samba On Wifi Card Insertion

Just installed Cacko/Crow ROM (home on SD) + Cacko Kernel Update.

My WiFi Card is recognized with no problems and I was able to configure Samba over WiFi based on the guidelines posted on ZUG. The only problem is that Samba only auto starts on USB but I would like it to autostart when I insert my WiFi card and autostop when the card is removed.

So far I can only start Samba manually using samba start and stop commands.

Mac Issues / Typing To Zaurus Using The Mac Keyboard

Is it possible? Is there any way to configure both Mac/Zaurus so that I can type to Z using my powerbook's keyboard?

I'm rstill unning 10.3.9 but will be update to 10.4 soon.
Using AJZaurusUSB to connect to Z over smb.

Software / How To Delete Default Sharprom Calculator?

One more newbie question  

How do I uninstall the default Calculator application that comes with SharpROM v3.1.3?

As it is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs I believe that I can delete it directly with the terminal but I have no idea of where the file(s) are located?

I've been playing with NeoCal during last week and decided I'll register and stick with it.  

As I don't want to keep two calculators, I would like if it is possible and how to uninstall the default calculator application that comes with SharpROM v3.1.3.

Software / Best Mp3 Player For Sl5500 Sharprom

I'm doing my research & testing but would like to receive some advice about what you consider the best MP3 Player for the SL5500.

It must cover the following requirements:
-----------------------------------------------
- compatible with SharpROM v3.1.3 (for this I mean an .ipk that one can just install and run immediately - no 1000 lines of configuration commands or a looooong list of additional .ipks and dependencies necessary).
- must have a GUI
- can read ID3 tags and list files by artist, genre, song, etc
- more than one playlist
- store the position in the current playlist when app is finished
- plain MP3 (no AAC / wma / etc...)


Not mandatory but it would be cool:

- EQ
- display art cover


So far I have found only two options that cover part of my requirements:

- tkcPlayer (it's my choice for now)
- MediaPlayer

Mac Issues / Samba Over Wi-fi?

Hi,

I would like to sync/transfer files from my Mac and Z using a samba shared folder and would like to do this over wi-fi. Next I will try to use ZMacSync over WiFi.

So far I can get my Z to recognize my CF WiFi card and I can pick up an IP address from my DHCP server. I connect to my DHCP server thru an wifi AP that is hardwired to the DHCP server.
I can surf the web, get email and connect to my Mac's Personal Web Server.

But I can not connect from my Mac to the Z be it with Samba or FTP.

So my questions are (be aware that I don't know anything about Linux):

1. How can I check if Samba is running?
2. Do I need to have a fix IP address or can I use a dynamic one as I'm doing currently?

I found an article in ZUG which has a listing with a lot of commands and adjustments to configure Samba over WiFi - is all that programming necessary?

5x00 General discussions / Latest Releases Sharprom / Kernel For 5500?

I've just sucessfully flashed my SL-5500 to SharpROM v3.13 and as a complete newbie in this Zaurus/Linux/ROMs/command line thing this was a huge step!

For what I understood SharpROM v3.13 is the latest stock ROM that I can flash my Z, right?

But what about the other thins like Qtopia (I have v1.5.4 installed) and Insignia Java and Embedix Plus PDA (I have version 2.0)?

My next steps will be to invest in a WiFi card (Socket/Ambicom) and a larger CF but I would like to first set my Z with the latest OSs.

Any clues?

Mac Issues / Zaurus & Mac - Newbie First Post!

Hi gang!

I've just put my hands on a SL-5500. It is loaded with what I suppose is an old original Sharp ROM (v.1.5...).

So far I've been reading everything I found about my new little friend but I still have lots of doubts about the basics.

The first thing I would like to know is the easiest / reliable way to connect to my Mac (Powerbook G4 12") so that I can transfer files and flash my Z with a newer Sharp ROM or the OpenZaurus ROM?
