Sharp ROMs / Ir Keyboard For C860, Cacko 1.23
« on: April 10, 2007, 10:43:39 pm »

Afternoon all,

Still kind of a newbie, but is there a way to use a IR keyboard with a Zaurus C860 running Cack 1.23 Full?  I have seen reference to a program called IRK, but can't seem to find a working link to get it and try.

The keyboard I would like to use is a Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard, in case that makes a difference.

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Regards
Macbeth

Here's the url for IRK that I use w/ my Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard w/ Cacko:

I'm running irk-zaurus-j_0.11.1f on my 5500, 5600, C760, & my C1K.  Hope that helps.  Take care.

I got a message from Qtech (the makers of speaq).  They have never tried sipphone, but are going to look into some of the issues raised here.

Thanks for the update.  I left feedback a few times on their website, but never heard anything back.  Take care.

I'll give it a go and see what happens, mind you I am running cacko1.23 so there's a good change it might break!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=155584\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I loaded it on a stock sharp rom setup on c1000 and I got an error on install.  But I went foward with it anyway. The program ran but fast at first, but then had lag.  I was able to setup and registar at sipphone, but it keeps losing registration and then getting it back.  I did get my phone to ring but had no sound or voice on the call.

So perhaps it is sipphone.

The site said it was tested on a sl5600.  As such the screen defaults to portrait.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=155615\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Well, I tested it on my 5600, 760 and my 1000.  I had no problems making 2 calls that went thru fine on both my 760/1000, but when I used my 5600, the person on the other end had a hard time hearing me.  I do have the problem where it keeps loosing the registration, but it quickly re-registers & I was able to receive a call as well.   Which works much better than kphone.  It's nice to finally have a client that works w/ sipphone.  Thanks for the info.  Hopefully the final product fixes the little bugs found so far.  I'd pay for a final version but for now, I'll keep testing it.  Take care.

I built cron & bc yesterday in my spare time & just built mutt.  Only takes a few minutes.  Is it possible to upload ipk's made so they can be added to the feed?  Or Enodr, do you want to build these items yourself?  I don't care either way, I was just trying to save some duplication of work for people.  I'm only using these packages on my 5500 running a hybrid tkc/sharp rom.  On my 5600, I'm running OZ/Opie and GPE.   I'm using my 5500 more for PDA/Work usage right now, and my 5600 is a hack system.   Atleast till I get another a 3000/3100/3200.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=148162\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Did you build these packages using Openembedded? If yes, did you push the recipes in OE (or maybe they are already here?).

If not, I may open a secondary (temporary)binary only feed which will contain packages which are not yet "buildable" with Openembedded (I won't have time to make recipes for everything. That's why I prefer spending time explaining how to setup Openembedded so that people can help by making recipes.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=148271\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

So far all the packages I've built have been using the packages already in OE.  I haven't tried adding anything yet.  I'll be trying that soon as I want to change how a few packages are built for Sharp rom and for OpenZaurus.  I guess I should've started off trying to build stuff for OpenZaurus first instead of sharprom-compatible.     Yesterday, I setup another build setup for OpenZaurus, and built several items like my own kernel, etc.  I liked how it automatically built the cross-compile tools automatically and setting everything up.  While I was at it, I went ahead rebuilt my 5600 setup w/ OZ/Opie.

The reason I asked if it was possible to upload prebuilt packages was that way you didn't have to re-build stuff someone else already had.  I understand everyone has other things to do, like work for a living, goto school etc. :-)  I spend 95% of my time dealing w/ Sun hardware and Solaris .  The other 5% I spend with my family and working on stuff like getting sofware to run on old *nix OS's like NeXTSTEP/Openstep, Apple A/UX, and my Z's.  And I don't mind contributing time/effort in any small way to help.

Thanks.  I saw those drivers before and I wasn't sure if those were the latest or what keyboards would work with it.  The keyboard suggestion looks like it will work.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=148114\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

No problem.  That's the only version I found that would work w/ the Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard.  Since I already owned the keyboard for several Palm devices, I didn't care to buy another keyboard for my Zaurus.

Hello all,

So my sister has my old 5500 and I was thinking getting her an ir keyboard.  I've looked at some older threads about pocketop and belkin, but what is available today that will work with little install?  I think She's still running the tkc rom on it.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I'm using the Palm Universal Wireless keyboard with my old  5500 running a a tkc/sharp rom hybrid w/ the irk ipk from here:

[a href=\"http://www.geocities.jp/bakkeo2004/]http://www.geocities.jp/bakkeo2004/[/url]

I've used the keyboard w/ no problems on my 5500, 5600, and my old C3000 all running a cacko/sharp/tkc rom's.

I was curious how can someone contribute to the feed?  I'm just getting started w/ using OE & and so far I've built several packages.  I'd like to keep from re-building all the stuff you have. :-)  I'd be happy to upload what packages I have built so far.  I do still have some questions for you about your build setup.  I guess I still have some problems with mine.  I still can't build libpng or libpcre.  I'll try to catch you on #oe sometime.

Contribution to the feed is very easy: if you make a new recipe for a package using OE, submit it to OE bugtracker and I will add the built package to the feed.
Don't hesitate to put package requests here, as long as the package has already a recipe in OE, I'll try to compile it and put it in the feed.

As for compilation problem I'll do my best to help with compilation under OE with sharprom-compatible target.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=148080\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I resolved my problem with libpcre/libpng and since have built several more packages.  So far, I've built quite a few updated commandline tools like bash, bc, bison, bitchx, bzip2, cpio, cron, diffutils, expat, findutils, flex, gdbm, grep, gzip, less, lsof, m4, make, minicom, openssl, openssh, patch, pine, readline, sed, slang, slrn, sudo, tar, tcl, tin, unzip, zip, wget, vpnc, zlib.  All of these packages and their dependencies built w/ no problems.  I was curious how you got libopienet to build since it has several errors w/ the version of wireless.h that is included in the 2.4.18 kernel.  It'd be pretty easy to "hack" up all the defines, but I'd prefer not to do that.     I'll look at this more later today.  I'm using a "collie" as my machine btw.   Or have you already patched your kernel source?  Just curious.  Thanks.

A new feed for Sharprom and compatible distros (cacko, ...) is available here:

http://sharpromfeed.home.linuxtogo.org/feed/

Just add this feed to your /etc/ipkg.conf then:
Code: [Select]
ipkg update
ipkg install vim

This feed is built using Openembedded. As part  of the project I will publish instructions on how to setup your own OE environment to build software for Sharprom.

The aim of this feed is to be a central place where you can find up-to-date packages for Sharprom, without worrying about missing dependencies.

I haven't built every software available in OE yet, so feel free to post requests here.

Sharp ROMs / SL 5500 TCK ROM 2.0 Aplha 3 with Home on SD script
« on: November 20, 2006, 02:03:59 pm »
I know this is an older thread, but I thought I'ld let everyone know that I took some time to mess w/ my old 5500 last night and I was successful in taking the /root/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit script from the TKC ROM 2.0 Alpha 3 and modifying both the original TKC 1.0 ROM and the Sharp 3.13 ROM w/ the script.  The process was pretty quick and easy.  While doing it I went ahead and replaced the /lib/modules.rom/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/kernel/drivers/block/sharp_mmcsd_m.o module w/ the patched one that is also mentioned here in the thread.  My reasoning for doing this is,  I never had much luck w/ the Cacko ROM/Kernel being stable w/ home on my sd card.   The TKC ROM  2 has always ran stable.  Anyway, I was getting errors when trying to use tun.o and ipsec.o modules w/ the TKC kernel.  Both worked fine w/ the Original Sharp Kernel/3.13 ROM.  So, now I have the 3.13 ROM running vpnc w/ no problems and still have my /home on my SD card.  Everything is stable.   Besides, re-installing alot of packages, I'm pretty happy using the stock Sharp ROM for now, but I'm going to revisit this area eventually and make an new updated ROM for my 5500.  If anyone is interested in the initrd.bin files, feel free to drop me an email.   I usually read the site daily when I can, but hardly ever post.  I haven't used my Z in awhile because of work, but I've been growing tired of my Palm PDA's again & have a re-newed interest in the Z.  In fact I just bought a 5600 today & will hopefully have 6000 this week.  I'm also looking forward to getting a 3200 to replace the 3000 I sold to loc4me last year along w/ my Palm LifeDrive and a TX.  He just got those not too long ago and has been having fun w/ lately.  :-)

Hi all,
I've been reading these forums for quite sometime & follow them daily. :-)  I've ordered my 3100 & would like to sale my C3000.  It's in exellent condition.  Purchased 2 months ago locally.  I still have the purchase order from Dynamism.  I like having the latest & greatest so I figured I'd upgrade.  It comes w/ all the original accessories & in the box.  It's currently flashed w/ Cacko 3kb1, but I can flash what ever you like on it.  Not looking to make a fortune.    So, I'm letting it got for $350.  Would prefer it goes to a good home.  Drop me an email or a pm if interested.  Thanks.  BTW, I'm located in NC & will be in Boston all next week on business.  If you're in the Boston area, I'll be happy to bring it along to save shipping.  Thanks for looking, kb7sqi at yahoo.com.

This looks cool. Any ideas about whether it will work on a 6000?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96742\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I use it on both my 5500 running TKC Rom & on my C3000 running Cacko.
Just make sure you install the packages mentioned above.  It's a handy program
for a 0.20 release!  Take care.
