Software / Sync Kde Pim
« on: April 26, 2006, 03:39:54 am »
I have been messing with the sync funtions of kdepimpi on a windows system but my question will be the same on any other system too. My question is how does one instruct KDE pim on what calendar to write the sync info too? For example I have 3 remote calendars that i sync with and i would like them each to be sync with their respective calenders localy but i am unable to figure this out. when i sync it will only write the data to the "standard" calendar. I have tried everything to get it to write this data to the calendar of my choice but have been unable to figure it out. Does anyone know how to do this? Zautrix?

Guylhem Rom / Bugs In 1.0rc4
« on: April 02, 2006, 05:22:47 pm »
I have corresponded with Guylhem on progess of this ROM. He has agreed to attempt to fix the bugs in 1.0RC4. List your bugs here in the format below per Guylhem's instructions. I will edit this post to keep an edited list of bugs so they can be easilly accessed.

Format (he needs):
- a list of the bugs
- a way to reproduce themg
- their importance (high, med, low)

Thanks,
-Mark

NOTE: I personally i have not confirmed all bugs listed below. If someone sees a bug i have listed that is not correct please inform me by way of this thread or PM. Thanks.

==========================================
[span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']List of Bugs for 1.0RC4[/span]:

1. Wifi (High)
- Unable to connect using the "any" ssid name. Name must be specified in order to connect to the access point. Also unable to get dhcp to function. Must hardcode IP in the script. Would like to have the Network setup GUI and connection manager working.
- Include working WEP scrips. Supposedly working fix is located here.

2. CF Bluetooth drivers (high)
- See post here. The blue tooth modules seem to be missing. Include newest version of Bluez.

3. Recursive symlink to Documents folder (high)
- Path to /home/zaurus/Documents is circular symlink to itself.
- easily fixed. Just deletet the folder and recreate a new one.

4. Fonts fixed (medium)
- Using "think fonts" causes font corruption. Also Right and left hand fonts need to be included.

5. SD fix (high)
- Unable to install programs to SD card and SD cards not being automounted.

6. Battery Applet (medium)
- Battery applet granular display of % batter left disapears after reboots. Second battery in Sled is not registered when connected.
- Gant theme was installed when granular bug occured. Not sure if the theme is the culprit or not?

7. IPKG install (high)
- Many report lockups using the GUI to install ipkg. Have to reset and reboot.

8. PC sync (meduim)
- Unable to sync with qtopia desktop or link to PC with samba

9. Tab editor (low)
- unable to delete icons using the built in tab editor. Able to add new ones and modify existing ones though.

10. Update program versions (low)
- Update Zeditor version
- Update and add IRK keyboard drivers

11. Qtopia reboot on KO/PI alarm (low)
- Qtopia reboots after alarm notification in KO/PI

12. 2b driver (med)
- I belive that Cresho has extracted the 2gb driver out of his C3200. Others have confirmed it works on other C3xxx/C1xxx.

13. Support for USB ethernet (low)
- Not sure if this works currently?

For Sale / Wanted / Fs: Sl-c3000
« on: March 23, 2006, 01:55:58 pm »
Hi,
I am looking to trade my C3000 for a C3100. Anyone interested let me know. I am also willing to just sell it if anybody would be interested in that.

The unit has hardly been used. It is flashed with Cacko C3kb1. It has had a screen protector from day 1. I have two new batteries. There are ZERO scratches on the unit. It  has always been transported in a padded case. I am very meticulous about my stuff hence the excelent condition of my C3000. I have all the accesories including box, CDs and manuals. I can send pictures if anyone is interested. I also have a socket/symbol wifi card that can be included if interested as well as several CF and SD cards of 256mb or 512mb.

Either PM me or email markmiller51 [at] gmail [dot] com

Thanks,
-Mark

Sharp ROMs / Cacko On C3000 And Symbol Wifi
« on: February 02, 2006, 08:38:18 pm »
I posted this in the model specific forums but i have not recieved any help yet. I thought maybe posting in another forum might help. Here was my original post:

Hello,
I have a C3000 with the 1.23 beta version of cacko installed. I am attempting to get the symbol wifi card to work. I have seen a topic on this before but i was unable to find it when I searched. if anyone could outline the steps I need to take in order to get the symbol wifi card working with the Cacko rom on a C3000, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
-Mark

Also when i plug in the CF wifi card the activity light flickers but no matter how i try to configure it the green power/activity light will not come on so i know it is not configured properly. Thanks.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Speed: Md Vs Sd
« on: December 20, 2005, 11:13:29 pm »
After reading the topic on "partioning scheme" here i have decided i want to partition my C3000 to give me about 2GB of internal space for program installation and leave 1GB of FAT space to be used for USB mass storage when conecting to Windows and such. I am not sure exactly how to partition this off but that is left for another topic. What i would like to know is if the 4GB MD is faster/slower to read and write from than what a 1GB SD card would be. I want to use alot of this space to install X/Qt and apps on. If the SD card will give me significantly faster read and write times then there is not much reason in doing this except for being able to eject your SD card and all your programs will still run.

I think i will still partition my drive, but i would really like to know if one is faster than the other. If some one knows how to just test this with something like the "dd" comand then i can just test it myself and post my results. I saw a post along time ago about testing the speed of SD cards but i did not find it so i am not really sure how to test it myself. Thanks for all the help.

Also Neuroshock if you read this post, do you know if the retail version of the 6GB Seagate MD has faster read/write  and access times than the original Hitatchi MD. Also what about power consumption?

General Discussion / Age And Gender Of Users?
« on: December 13, 2005, 08:50:02 pm »
I have been wondering what many Zaurus users are like, gender and age specifically. I dont know if anyone else cares but i guess we will see by the number of people that vote. You dont have to reply but it would at least be nice if you would vote.

I did not know how to do it any other way so people will have to vote twice. Once for age and once for gender. Thanks.

5x00 General discussions / Tkc Vs Cacko
« on: December 10, 2005, 11:24:59 pm »
Can anyone tell me what the major differnce between the TKC rom kernel and the cacko kernel is. I have been using both and really dont know which is better. Once i installed the TKC alpha/beta 3 or whatever the offica name is i have then flashed the cacko kernel. I have ran both for a while and the only problem i have ran into with the cacko kernel is the battery light flashes when charging some times. This is well documented though.

so my real question is can some one list the reasons to use one kernel over the other? to my understanding they both have the async flag turned off for faster writes to the SD card. Does the cacko kernel have more modules compiled into it, like blue tooth or anything? Does one have better support for wireless and other CF cards than the other. I am just looking for the pros and cons to each.

Thanks for the help.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Usb Kb Map
« on: November 25, 2005, 09:38:50 pm »
Hi,

I know this topic has been discussed many times but i have not seen the solution posted. I have a fellowes usb folding keyboard. I am running cacko C3kb1 rom on my C3000. Most of the keys on the usb KB work except the punctuation keys like , . ? <> and so on. If i use Keyhelper program that is preinstalled on it, it does not seem to reconize all keys. Like if i push ? key to find out how to change the mapping, it does not register the key press.

Also some time when i plug the keyboard in NONE of the keys work on the right hand side. If i unplug the keyboard then plug it into a windows machine type on it for a second then unplug it and replug it back into the zaurus the keys work again. I have no idea why this is. If anyone knows please post here. I know others have noticed this aswell.

My main question is how to i get all the punctuation key mapped properly. I am also using this KB under the Guylhem rom. All the keys work just fine under his rom. Except when the right hand side of the keyboard is not working. unpluging and doing the windows thing stated above fixes it though.

General Discussion / Where Is /etc/dir_colors
« on: November 23, 2005, 01:16:13 am »
Hello,
On the sharpRom or equivalent (Guylhem, Cacko) how do you chage the colors of file types that are output from ls comand. for expample dir are blue by default etc. If i want to change this on a normal linux disto it is usually in /etc/dir_colors or something similar. What would be the equivalent to this on the Zaurus?

I would like to modify this file to customize my terminal. I have not tried this but if it was to be created would it be read? Because the .bashrc file is not there by default but it is read if it is created and contains information like path variables or aliases and such. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
