thanks for the information.. I thought it might have been that before..

however I've now run through your suggestions and a few others i decided i'd try myself (like removing all the aborts).

the result is sadly the same..it wont work

now the questios are could it be the dongle

1. (ie its driver support) ? its a USB  huatong HSK-BTHADTU ( tbh i doubt that to be the case because I wouldn't have expected it to do as much as it can if it didn't work!).

2. is it the phone? I'm wondering if theres something more specific to do with the phone? has anyone else had success with GPRS a Zaurus and a sony erricson phone?

3. does anyone know of any good sony erricson information sites that don't actually turn out to be bloody bleeding crappy ringtone sites with bloody bleeding crap adverts and bollocks on them that make me want to set fire to people!

just doing a bit of testing with this, its still doesn't work but

ATZ+CGDCONT =1

or

ATZ +CGDCONT =1

however

ATZ +CGDCONT =1,"IP","goto.provider.uk"

doesn't

I've tried

ATZ +CGDCONT =1,0,0 and that fails as well

I'm wondering if the ppp peers file is having trouble with the characters,

but I have created a stand alone script for this before and pointed the peers file to that rather than an input string and this still doesn't work

I'd really really like to know if anyone has had success with Zaurus GPRS!

hi, i've already tried that and it doesn't work

from what i can gather , and this is my current thinking is

that all i need is the ATZ to get the modem up

and use

*99***X# where X is the right id of the profile, however so far, thats not worked either but i think this is how it is ment to work with the SE phones. From what I've read im not the only person and nor is the Z the only PDA that has problems with this.

I'll do a bit more digging and see what happens

Just a bit of further info, I updated my phones firmware to the latest version to ensure that everything is working in that regard. However I've still got the same problem i cannot connect to the net via GPRS.

Is there any step or setting that I might have missed for setting up the bluetooth device?

i've used the information from here which seems spot on as when I start the network service the devices pair the first time round.

http://www.zaurususergroup.org/modules.php...ename=Bluetooth

it just says initalizing modem and then eventually goes to network offline using the guide found here http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

it looks like the pairing is correct just nothing else is working

help!

Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone can help here...

I've installed all the required bits and bats to get bluetooth working on the C3100.

I've been able to get my phone (sony w800i) to see my zaurus.

My phones GPRS settings are correct and i've followed everything to the letter on this site

http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

my issue comes down to this...

if i supply the:

 +CGDCONT =1,"IP","apn.address"

into the dialup(bluetooth) module , modem tab init string field

and try to connect I can see that blue tooth traffic is beggining but the modem does not initialize it just eventually times out after hanging on initializing...

however if this string is actually left as

ATZ

the phones modem is invoked and the connecting splash screen is shown, the zaurus says connected but the phone then drops out with an error saying the configuration settings are wrong and thus the gprs is not established.

I've tried hand editing the scripts for this to see if i can get any further but i'm completely stuck.

some sites have suggested changing the dial string to

*99***1# where 1 is the CID and leave the modem string blank but this doesn't work either. The ATZ is required as far as I can see to invoke the modem but after that I'll be f*cked if I can work out whats happening!

If anyone can help i'd appriciate it

Hi,

I've recently got USB bluetooth working on my Zaurus SL-C3100 as I bought the UH-3000 usb cable and installed all the Bluez packages .

I have a sony W800i and I've successfully managed to set up a link between the devices.

I'm now looking for SMS & Phone book software if there is any? Either for X11 or Qtopia , if not I might be able to compile something with the cross compiler etc.....

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Anyone Have Success Setting Up Pptp
« on: October 14, 2005, 06:23:22 am »
just a little more details.. I'm trying to get the PDA to joing my companies VPN

I've set up my chap-secrets file, this contains :

domain\\user PPTP password
PPTP domain\\user password

I created an options.pptp file in /etc/options.pptp , this contains :

lock
noauth
mtu 1000
mru 1000
name 'domain\user'
remotename PPTP

I created a peers directory under /etc/ppp

and in there added a peer file domain-vpn , which contains

#
# Server IP: IP address
# Route: add -net address TUNNEL_DEV

name domain\\user
remotename PPTP

file /etc/ppp/options.pptp

this means you can run pptp as follows

pptp domain-address call domain-vpn

however on invoking this nothing happens..I get the feeling i've missed out a device definition somewhere but i don't know where. I've become a bit complacent with ppp/pptp stuff over time now as most distros now contian script management to handle the setup / control of this stuff...

what have I missed if anything?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Best Way To Backup Your Zaurus?
« on: October 04, 2005, 05:00:49 am »
SOrry if this is already discussed around here i've just not found anything in my brief search this morning!

I've just about got my Z'd nicely setup! thing is i'd like to make a "snapshot" of it incase of some kind of technical fuckup as its taken me and ages to get everything sat on there nicely, i'd rather not go through the configuration stage again!

So what the best way to backup the ENTIRE Z'd? is it possible someone must have done something...

5x00 General discussions / Cf Wifi Card, Supported?
« on: September 23, 2005, 04:49:22 am »
for the stock rom the best card for full functionality is

the ambicom wll1100C-CF

it works perfectly for me

you can also get the Symbol Spectrum24 working but its not 100% supported under the stock rom.

I have all three cards would you believe!

Ambicom is the one I use though

I've had better luck getting wellenrieter to work , however because you can't get the card to go into monitor mode on the STOCK ROM its got limited functionality. I'm yet to get any great success in that area. Wellenrieter is the better software of the two so I'd suggest you go with that one.

IF your feeling brave you can install a new ROM both cacko and openzaurus fully support the symbol specturm24 card as far as I am aware. You only have partial support for it under the standard stock rom and I'm yet to find any other way bar for changing the rom to support it.

« on: September 15, 2005, 08:42:05 am »
has anyone built these for the stock rom or will we have to re-flash the PDA to get them to work?

Reason I ask is that you CAN'T get the card to go into monitor mode unless you use the latest drivers but the stock C3100 doesn't ahve them.

I'm assuming that we'd have to change the kernel to make the changes right?

All I want is a wifi card that bloody works

I have a C3100 and a spectrum24 card and I'm having no problems with it as long as you set the card up as a lan card and then use iwconfig to set the rest.

I'm yet to try and use it to connect to a public / other network than my own but I can nip into the city and try it there theres a tonn of WiFi points.

Note: one problem I have encountered on the stock rom is that you can't put the card into monitor mode . Think its a kernel driver issue.

It would be nice to get the proper driver for the card
