Sharp ROMs / Cacko Rom 1.23 Is Released

Well, I tried it and there is really lot of very good stuff, like the USB drivers for the lynksys USB Ethernet Dongle (aixxxx module), etc etc.. but kphone with sipgate no more works?.

If i setup kphone to use the Stun server => no registration, if i remove the stun server, registration ok, test on 10000 number ok, but "a error occured" if i try to make a call to a fixed line...


so i want to come back to the sharp rom, but, if i restore my NAND backup there is an error so here my question,

How to restore a NAND sharprom backup after the cacko rom 1.23 install (with the 32M format stuff..)

I tried to reformat 64Mo for the rom (using the cacko install) and relaunch the nand backup, but same error ?? thanks


UPDATE : Kphone is working, just a config error from me. still not able to restore the sharprom BTW.

I bouth a C1000 1 month ago from them(GS4U), and i was happy. I realy like the fact that they awnser to my 20 mail before i finally buy it.
The 100V charger work well in US (i use it now, but you can find good price for international charger, Wifi card at amazon)

I found that there where a cramfs img that meanie built with everything needed to compile stuff !!. it will not be usefull, because driver exist in the latest cacko rom (1.23) !!!

It seems to work, i just need to find a way to confgure the office proxy to have access to the internet ...

i finally found some sources for the AIX88172 here :http://ax.thepredatory.net/status.html
and then what did i need to do ??
It seems that there is a need of the kernel source to compile this driver (in the readme), then where to find the kernel source for the C1000? and more, how to compile it ?? need help!
PS : the tetsu kernel source could be used ?

Hi, I have just bought the same USB to Ethernet adaptater. It seems that there is a OPENBSD/Zaurus working stuff :

As shasn, i could try to make the module, but i do not know from where to start??
Here are the data that i have found about this product :

In addition to the "software emulated" adapter model used in smart peripherals, there are also single-purpose adapters using real hardware. How to compile the sources (ie on the zaurus, something like ./configure, make..)

why i bought this stupid USB adaptater and not a CompatibleWithMeanieModule One ??

For my experience, installing the cramfs package on a clean Z (ie without a previous X/Qt install) is very very easy. I didn't have the required flash memory available to try the ipk jumbo package. if you want to try just wait the updated apps cramsfs.
About the performances, X launch is ok, some apps too (like sylpheed). but thunderdbird (for me) is realy to long to launch.
Last thing, it may be easier to uninstall the ipk package than remove all the links created by the cramfs setup ?.

ok, so i m not alone..
After booting with the workaround above, there is some strange stuff. There is something running in background (there is the sand glass on the task bar)??

the network setup don't want to run.. and it is possible to umount /home/xqtjumbo but it not possible to umount /home/xqtapps

there is something like :

umount ioctl : LOOP_CLR_FD:device busy
/home/xqtapps device busy

??

Meanie,
it seems that there is an issue (at least for me !) about the cramfs jumbo package :

I was not able to reboot properly after it was installed. the Z just show the Sharp picture for eternity..

I have then restored a backup without any xqt install (this time) and the reboot=>ok

After the cramfs installation, i tried to reboot => same pb. I was able to connect to the Z via the USB connection and openssh while the Z was showing the startup screen since a long time. here is the outpout from ps command:

time), kill the failing qpe and qeserver process . and then the boot process continue. and was ok.

why the qpe.sh script need this lib from the X/Qt install

Note that before reboot,
- the startx command works,
- abiword fail to load with a libgthread-2.0.so.0 error, (it was working with the first install ??)
- sylpheed, dillo, xmms, gimp, ethereal, thunderbird and firefox works.

PS : I tried two time the same thing (restore a working backup, reboot , install xqt jumbo cramfs package , try to reboot) to be sure about that.

thanks, LANG=en is ok for sylpheed, and abiword etc..

Nothing about config, but if you want (like me) a better e-mail client for your Z than the available from the sharp rom, sylpheed with the meanie's xqt package is quite fast to launch and easy to use.
I wanted first to use thunderbird, like with my laptop, but thunderbird is very very slow, compare to sylpheed on the Z.

i'm unable to connect to my server. i set set up the port number to 54098.
if i try to connect to this vnc server, i have a "host not found".  error message.
obviously, it works fine from my laptop.
so where to set up the the server port number!
i tried
IP:PortNumber
IP::PortNumber
IP@PortNumber

none of them work.

X/Qt configured.
I tried to remove the previous link, and relaunch the install script but still same error..
X works, but if I want to launch abiword or thundirbird, that does not work.
for abiword, i can see the launch picture but then there is a error about the pango lib ...

it should come from the previous install, but how to fix it ?

I used the .tar.gz file from Bam.
