Security and Networking / Linksys Wcf12+space In Essid+128bits Key
« on: October 10, 2005, 12:09:20 pm »
Hi all,

The Wifi card is working well with kismet and my hotel wifi connection (40bit Web Key) but i'm not able to be connected to my Office Wifi Network.
The office ESSID is with a space (like "john doe") and the WEP key is 26 characters long (so i suppose it is a 128b encryption key.
I have created a new connection with the sharp tool (so "johndoe" without the space, and the key, network type 'infrastructure', DHCP and DNS automatic, WEP key 'Open System', then modify the :

a -/home/zaurus/Applications/Network/modules/WLANx.conf to add the space to the ESSID
b - /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.opts to add the space to the ESSID too

But it is not working, the card led flash during the initialisation process.
I have then modifie the syslogd conf (*.*) file and run a tail -f /var/log/message

Here is the result when I plug in the card and try to connect

Code: [Select]

Oct 10 10:29:23 localhost dhcpcd[6606]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server

means something is wrong ??

I have tried to put 20 instead of 10 in the timeout parameter of the WLANx.conf file, but no success. Same stuff each time i try to connect this network. I realy need to be connected at the office but i didn't know what to try now, an idea? i'm lost

I have a Z C1000, and use the regular Sharp Rom in english.

Note : my laptop is connected to this network and there is no MAC adress filtering (some people came sometimes for one day only and are able to use this network without trouble)

C1000/3x00 Hardware / What Headphone With Microphone For The Cxx00?
« on: October 08, 2005, 03:14:39 am »
hi all,
i have found a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptater. i can heard sound in my telephone head set now. i do not have software to try te microphone. I have tried kphone with no success, kphone keep asking for my password, for voipbuster and fwd. i have followed the instructions found on the site of these sip providers to set up kphone. it seems that it's not possible for it to be registred ?
if i tried to dial a fixed telephone number, most of the time it will ask to login and then stop dialing. but one or two times, the phone call was done (so the logging should worked), but after 1 s  the communication was established, kphone crashed.
i'm using a c1000, the sharp rom, and kphone v1.0.0.
did anybody succeed using kphone with a c1000?

1-install verdana font from the "bible" (meanie's site)

2-Move the helvetiva*.* files from /home/QtPalmtop/lib/font somewhere as a backup

3 - link (ln -s) all the  helvetica*.* font to the verdana_*.* font.

I'm not a linux guru, so i have done this one by one using a script :

the script looks like :
Code: [Select]
#!/bin/sh
ln -s verdana_100_50.qpf helvetica_100_50.qpf
ln -s verdana_100_50_t10.qpf helvetica_100_50_t10.qpf
ln -s verdana_100_50_t15.qpf helvetica_100_50_t15.qpf
ln -s verdana_100_50_t5.qpf helvetica_100_50_t5.qpf
ln -s verdana_100_50i.qpf helvetica_100_50i.qpf
...

i have attached it, if it could be usefull . Maybe all theses links could be done with only one instruction..?

Thank you one more time now it's woking!.
PS : To switch from helvetica->verdana is the only solution is to remove the existing symb link and create new ones for helvetica->verdana ?? is there a way to tell Qtopia to use verdana from a configuration file, somewhere ?

Thanks, i have read your site very often and installed a verdana font that i have found somewhere (the pico font verdana was not eazy to find). i will download yours.
NOTE : most of the sharp soft seems to use in fact the helvetica font not the lcfont. lcfont seems to be use by kconsole and some other but few.

The default font for the sytem is "ldfont" in the C1000. Sharp PIM and texte editor use this font and i want to be able to use the accentuated characters (mainly for the mail soft) . i have tried to backup lcfont and create symbolic links with the verdana font, but there is a issue when the screen is rotated ...

is there a unicode font that match the lcfont characteristic (same size avaible, rotation ok, ...)

thanks,

Well, after having installed applications and creates a file swap, the Zaurus became very slow...  removing the SD card solved this slowness.
Therefore, return of the Card at neweggs and I will try to find another mark.  The reference of this SD Card is:  PQI 1GB SD CRD 45 Ae20-1030-0101
to be thus avoided.

Themes, Icons, and Backgrounds / Gant Theme In Progress
« on: October 02, 2005, 03:54:25 pm »
hi all !

I have tried to install the gant icon from cresho on my C1000 but everything went wrong and i had to restore a backup ... :
The first time i tried , there where a missing space on device error, so as proposed, i have uninstalled the gant icon theme just after my try to install it : the result was that i have lost most of the standard icons.. no pb, i have freed space, i have tried, from the console this time, to install the gant icon theme => the installation went ok but my icons were not there. I have rebooted and the reboot process show me the boot image from the gant theme and loop for eternity with a 1second console splash screen who returns periodicaly...

Is the ipk on the zaurutheme is ok for the C1000 ?? (should be cresho had a C1000 !!!), so what is the good way to install these icon ???

PS : sorry for the language, i'm not sure to have been very clear (i'm french)

Ok, it seems this PQY is not perfect.

I have kept the sd card inside the Z for 2 days and all was good.

Then i decide to make final test with it (before send it back to neweggs), i have formated the sd card with a FAT16 FS, and try different ways to plug it.. the result is now the Z automounts the SD card if i stay 1 to 2 s pushing the sd card at the maximun and then release it. So it should be a connector pb... I hope i will not damage the internal Z sd card reader doing that ..

I'm am now try to make kino2 running... (mplayer works, but if i try to install kino2-bvdd, it says that it need mplayer -w100 ???)..

I have still lot of time to spend on this toy :-) !!!! i love it!

PS Absolute : it was the command that i used.
