Gemini PDA - Hardware / Screen issues

Guess it's just me then!  

But as way of an update it would seem to be linked to the auto brightness feature.  I have tried covering up where I think the sensor is and this can create the same effect.  I still have the original shipping screen protector on so I wonder if the age of this is interfering with it; just hoping the sensor is not on it's way out!!

Actually, no. If Nova Search is activated, pressing a key simply brings another search bubble. If I'm not mistaken, graynada--and me too--wants nothing to happen if a key is pressed when on Home Screen.

Yes thanks Jake, that would be the desired outcome, plus as an aside, I don't use Nova Launcher anyway.  Maybe Oreo will be the answer.....

That'll be a PC 2 weeks then       Do we think they are travelling at or need the speed of light thus time goes more slowly for them relative to us?

I concur:  WiFi power usage has improved.

Power usage doesn't seem improved for me. With no SIM fitted and wifi enabled, my gemini went from 100% charge to dodo dead in less than 20hrs while sat on my desk unused.  
I'm dissapointed, but I'm done wasting time on this device.

For comparison on Android I get a full day of moderate 4G and Wifi usage out of my Gemini with usually over 50% battery left at the end of the day.  WiFi only and no use it would easily last more than 3 days so while I understand your frustration I would respectfully suggest the issue is the software rather than the device?

Just recently I have noticed the quality of the display has deteriorated.  This seems to be mainly associated with displaying dark colours (but not pure black).  It is most noticeable on the home screen, icons and wall paper and when watching videos on Kodi.  On the home screen it makes the wallpaper look very light and loses sharpness as do the icons.

Changing settings in Display, Miracast(?) has some effect but I can't get it perfect.

Has anyone else seen this? ie has a software update introduced this 'feature' or is my screen potentially on the way out?

Gemini PDA - Android / Is it possible to save passwords in the browser?

I have checked "save passwords" in the browser settings, but absolutely no passwords are saved. When I enter a site with a saved login, I have to enter the password manually again.

Thus, I use Firefox, which has a Bitwarden plugin, which is actually working.

However, the built-in browser is easier to navigate AND there is more screen real-estate in it.

Thus, I wonder whether:
A) it is possible to get the save passwords to work?
 it is possible to add an addon to the built-in browser?

Not a direct answer sorry but I use Opera as my default browser which does have a built in password manager and settings to maximise screen real estate.  I find it very quick with a great built in ad blocker to boot.

Google maps : crashes as soon as you touch a link for more information on something like a restaurant or other landmark

No problems noted with Google Maps here.  Works fine for me on the Gemini.
I don't use the other apps so can't comment on these.

Gemini PDA - Android / Clock time display issues

Strangely the behaviour seems to have improved, but I couldn't tell you why or what i've done (apart from update the firmware perhaps?)

For me it has got worse.  The worst offender at the moment is the clock in the status bar at the top.  This quite often seems to 'stop' while I'm active on the device and can be 20 minutes or more out, most disconcerting when you don't realise.  I do not recall ever having this 'feature' on any of the previous and many Android phones I have known so not sure why it is happening on the Gemini.  The app bar clock is still dubious but strangely now better than the status bar one.

How to remove microsd card from Gemini PDA microsd slot? I try, but it seems stuck in there.

The micro SD card slot doesn't have the more usual latching mechanism so you just have to slide it out rather than push it in and it springs out.

Gemini PDA - Android / Looks like Notes and LEDison have updates available on Google Play.

Now I have the version of LEDison that supports app-notifications, but it really doesn't do much, so GeminiLED is still a much better option for that: A single LED lighting up is much better than any blinking feature, that also has a time limit. For callers LEDison is useful, as it can display a unique pattern for each caller, or at least for the most common/important, as the call is coming in, but for notifications a single LED is better.

Check permissions as mine can see internal storage with storage permissions on.

It has the storage permission but not the contacts.

Weird, it works fine for me with those same permissions

Thanks for the suggestions.  My Gemini isn't rooted, I was so excited to get it I didn't want to risk doing any harm but installed x-plorer and couldn't access it so will have to get round to it.

What can't you access?  the root file system  or the internal storage?

Looking at the screen the internal storage requires root to access.  I attached a screenshot.

Check permissions as mine can see internal storage with storage permissions on.

What can't you access?  the root file system  or the internal storage?
