Did someone test linux image? Does it do anything regarding linux phone calls, sms, mobile network?

Calls, SMS, bluetooth and mobile data don't work at present.

I would suggest jumping onto telegram and go into the planet group and ask on there.

Anyone managed to get their keyboard layout working? Followed instructions (removed _apt user from passwd, did apt-get update/upgrade, added cosmo to model), but layout stays us no matter what, ctrl-alt-k just displays 'us' even after removing 'us' from layouts

Go into the settings -> input devices -> keyboard. In the keyboard model select Planet | Planet Computers Cosmo Communicator.

Then select apply.

This worked for me.

Yeah, still having the default (US?) layout, no luck with adding/changing layouts, so trying to find any special keys like -_" etc is a bummer

Did you do an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade? The image is from about the 21st Jan. And then reboot.

There was an email sent out this afternoon from Planet to people that had indicated they wanted beta Linux for the Cosmo. There is a Linux beta image available for testing from Planets site. Be aware it is very early beta.

used the flushed image in post #64, upgraded with no problems, no data loss, flushed the new magisk image, works like a charm..

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Re-install Android when Linux comes out?

At the Planet meet-up in London on Friday night there was a demonstration (by Davide Guidi) of the planned system for installing Linux on Android. It appears that they are planning a different (and hopefully easier) system to the Flash tool used for the Gemini. It appeared to involve an over the air option for resizing the Android partition to leave space for adding Linux and TWRP. Sailfish wasn't mentioned (though Lineage was), but I assumed that if those could be added then it is highly probable that Sailfish will as well in due course.

I can't add more information than that, but it did sound as though this new approach was only 'a couple of weeks' away.

Pretty sure that Planet means that support for the other OS's is planned, but not available right when Cosmo's are first released. They are giving themselves wiggle room for when the first Cosmo's get shipped.

Hopefully, it won't be too long of a wait......as I use Debian on my Gemini and would like to do the same on my Cosmo.

If you have a look on the gemain github site you will see there has been some commits for the cosmo linux kernel. I expect that it wont be to long before linux will be available. I have no knowledge of when linux will be available and I am not a developer so I can only go by the commits I have seen. We some very smart developers that might have access to the hardware and I am sure they want linux working as soon as possible.

Has there been and update on the best way to use the gemini linux as a phone for day to day usage? The problem I am having is battery drain. I did a search on power saving on this forum and there doesn't seem to be a central location or thread on power saving. Any thoughts? Has TP3 included some of the feedback from the threads on this forum?

Mine doesn't work even with the latest android 7 and debian ( Gemini Partition Tool - Android 7.1/Linux ). Mine has boot 1 for rooted android and boot 2 for  debian . Maybe the problem is that I have a rooted android. I think maybe debian have to access some partition from android . But I am not sure about this. Who is the developer of camera-app ? Maybe he can help to solve this problem. Thank you.

I had the same problem, I reflashed my gemini with the 7.1 android rom and the latest debian and the camera app works. (Just for info)
