Gemini PDA - General Discussion / @ key produces " instead
« on: June 02, 2018, 08:28:58 pm »
You have a UK keyboard map somewhere in the settings.

You need to faf around with your keyboard layouts. The Gemini seems to have a few different places where you can change the keyboard map.

Try checking the virtual keyboard as well as the physical one. It took me ages to get @ working a UK keyboard. (Fn K).

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Screen to keyboard connection
« on: June 02, 2018, 08:15:50 pm »
Peek down the hinge when the device is open. You can clearly see two ribbon cables. Since the mainboard is behind the screen, I would assume that one cable is for the battery & one is for the keyboard &  sockets. That's just a guess tho.

The cables don't appear to be under any stress when open, so hopefully Psion 5 cable issues won't be a problem. Although, I never had any issues with mine. I broke the screen once (by standing on it) but that's a different matter.

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Brackets

Whoops, blind. I'd assumed they were on a function key like the other brackets. Didn't actually look at the shift part of the key. cheers.

In daily use, mine has disappeared. A new screen has presented itself which renders the other unnecessary. if I swipe left, the bugger reoccurs.

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Brackets

I can see the braces [], the curly braces {}, but where in the buggering hell are the normal brackets? I have a UK keyboard.

I've just looked at my old Psion 5 & that doesn't have them either.

BTW,  Has anyone noticed that the Gemini keyboard & the Psion 5 are exactly the same? Why did it need a new mat when the design had been figured out 20years ago?

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Weak Wifi/Bluetooth

My Gemini found my work WiFi.  I couldn't connect because I'm not allowed. My phone  couldn't find anything.

When speaking into the Gemini closed, don't hold the screen side too close to your cheek. It pinches.

I have a similar problem. If i press the silver button & say "dial home", the device vibrates but then does nothing. If I then open it up, the call connects.

Any suggestions?

Also, I can't say "call" I have to say "dial". Saying "Call home" does a Google search for an Australian TV programme.

I have my brightness set 1 up from minimum. That works fine at home and in the office. I haven't tried it outside or in the warehouse yet tho.

Didn't Clove also do stuff for Windows PDAs when they were a thing? I'm sure I remember buying aluminium cases for a Toshiba & 2 Dell pocket PCs?

And an SD card, back in the day when an offline copy of Wikipedia would fit on a128 MB card.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Is it possible to tighten the hinge?
« on: May 26, 2018, 03:57:26 pm »
I hold it the same as you gidds. The same way I held my Psion. The screen moves a little bit, but nothing that prevents swiping.

I know that the Psion screen didn't move in the same way, but the hinge design was different so it couldn't.

I got mine. Expect a flood of UK  buyers posting the same.

I just cast to my PC. No cables required.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Odd function button behavior
« on: May 23, 2018, 07:55:34 pm »
My Fn button works fine for Fn Del Settings & for Fn K Emojis. It won't do anything else. Suggestions? Everything was working  yesterday..

Edit: It's a Planet Computers thing. Switching to the AOSP UK keyboard fixed the problem.
