C1000/3x00 Hardware / Broken Sd Slot
« on: March 29, 2007, 11:53:59 am »
Hey all.  In the constant saga of me breaking my Zaurus, I have a new chapter.  About a month ago I took apart my in order to replace the microdrive which had finally died.  Shortly after I decided to use my sd slot as I never had and I thought it would be nice to have some extra space.  Well, after ejecting the mock card, I tried to press in the sd card and it felt like something was blocking the way.  I tried a couple more times to no avail.  Well, I accepted the fact it was broken and I stepped away from this problem for a week or so.  Well, I noticed that, now when I booted up pdaxrom, no modules were loaded...  In fact, I didn't even get a FAILED.  So, again, I tried the sd card again and it pressed in after a bit of fiddling (not hard).  When it went it, the system freezes for a short while and then acts as though nothing happened.   I try to mount and no beans.  I run dmesg and I get nothing (mind, the card is in now and ejects and presses in as normal).  The reason I post this in the hardware section is because I just flashed to GPE and I still have the same problems (minus the short term freeze).  I pop the card in, mounting fails and I get nothing in dmesg.  Does anyone have a clue?  Possibly a broken solder joint?  The board is pressed into the socket on the motherboard and screwed down....

I never used my SD cards and now I feel like I am missing something HUGE on my Z....  It's funny how that works.

Hey all...  I just got my wisdom teeth out.  Thank god none of them were impacted, but still, my mouth is numb as hell.  Does anyone have from past experience the knowledge as to when this virtual paralysis wares off?  At that point I'll probably be upset it wore off, but right now, this  hust feels VERY strange.

And....  I'M HUNGRY!!!!!!

I got bored and decided to see how Honda was doing with their development of the Asimo robot.  I came across this website:
Plyojump

It has a whole slew of information on the companies that are battling in the AI war.  I found it interesting.  I thought maybe you fellow geeks would enjoy it as well.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Genesis Emulation Under Pdaxrom
« on: March 12, 2007, 12:31:12 pm »
I just tried gpSP, after using Visualboy Advance.  Although getting the bios was a minor issue, I was terribly impressed by the increase in speed.  gpSP moves faster at 416 Mhz ((almost fullspeed)) than VBA works at 520.

Thanks for pointing that emulator out!  And to think, I was going to go buy a Gameboy Micro today.

aye.  I agree with speculatrix.  While I admire and understand the effort/time/money that the admins put into the forums, these unfortunate downages have been rather frustrating to all of us here and a bit scary to those who are really scared by the recent death of the zaurus line.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Dosbox Package Issues
« on: March 04, 2007, 06:22:27 pm »
I just got done playing a nice game of Circa 7000:Armies of Armageddon via dosbox emulation.  It's a great game.  I highly reccomend it, especially to those people who are familiar with warhammer/warhammer 40k.  I didn't have any problems with the mouse, but it was a touch slow.  Now to try to fiddle with the settings and break something...
