Note I didn't try the followings, but it might work for you:

you can find kdepim 2.2.7 for pdaxrom here:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16359

you can find qbedic which should be able to open the dictionaries/encyclopedia  mentionned above here:
http://www.pdaxrom.org/unstable/

you can try xpaint here:
http://wing.nagaokauniv.ac.jp/wiki/index.php?files
or gpaint :
http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib/jabbath/

more powerfull than mplayer? you don't need to exit X to run mplayer I think.
what do you mean with a gui?
xmms comes with mplayer plugin, you can also try vlc to play movies
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=108216\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thank's, I will try kdepim ...
Qbedic won't work ... problem with libstdc++ library ... moreover the french and deutsch dictionnary are too small
Xpaint work fine ! thanks !
For Mplayer many of my videos freeze a little ... but it's small videos that haven't being re-encoded for the Z ... so when I exit X to run mplayer I have less problems ...  Bit isn't a big problem ...

Hi !

I have buy a zaurus to remplace my palm ... my only regret is to havn't discover zaurus quickly ... but some software still missing to completly remplace my Palm ...

First I search a simple contact manager. But I need to import a contact file from CSV format ...

Second I need dictionnary. Wath's the best between qbedic ou stardict ? I need French<->English and German-French)

Something to control my phone, have try Gnokii but I have a P800, no a nokia so not fully compatible. Maybe Gammu but I havn't find how to configure it for IRDA and moreover no gui has been yet ported.

Need a scientific calculator with graphic. (I have found Tiemu, YEAH I have a ti92+ at home but I have somm error.)

Some graphical tool such as gimp but more friendly with a small screen size ...

Mplayer work great when I logout X but anything more powerfull ?

oh .. and a tool to beam/ receive files over irda ... xircp doesn't work, clicking "receive"  freeze the application ...

Thank's if you can respond at some of my questions ...
Have a nice day !

Thank's for you post ! (off topic but very usefull !)
Concerning the 70% I have read (i must re-find the link somewhere) that a research institue as said that when you charge something under 70% (okay, around 70%) the battery can become too warm ... and isn't good for is lifetime. And you must make sometimes full charge-discharge cycle altougth li-ion battery hasn't memory effect. I have make this by exemple with my smartphone, 3years of uptime and battery life still very good (about 75-80% of origin).
I'm dumm ... you have right for charging the Z while using it ... and double right when you say that you must (when it's possible) use it with adaptator.
For charging the Z I use the japanese adaptator with a 220-110, japan-france adaptator. I have a zipling for charging but never tested ... I hope that an usb port doesn't exceed 1A ...

I was caught out by the menu option to enable SMSs also.  As well as enabling that, you may have to touch on the in-box.

Right, I always charge pdas or phone at 70% (under the battery become too warm) and all 10 charge I make a complete discharging/ charging cycle.
But when you use your Z who is charging his battery ... the battery give power and receive power at the same time .. are you sure that is recommended ?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=107787\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
The battery isn't giving and receiving power at the same time - that's impossible.  The Z is taking power from the AC adaptor instead of the battery.  The adaptor will also be charging the battery simultaneously, assuming the battery is not fully charged.  (When fully charged, the Z stops charging.)  As Chero says, because the Z is taking some of the power from the adaptor, the battery is likely to be charging more slowly than normal.  This is not harmful to the battery at all - in fact, it may be beneficial.

I don't think there's any need to be so rigorous about charging at 70% and discharging fully every ten cycles.  In fact, I would guess that this would do the battery more harm than good.  Using the Z connected to the adaptor will make the battery last longer, because it is not being discharged at all by the Z.  A battery is rated for a certain number of charge/discharge cycles, but these are full cycles - it can do many more partial cycles.

As you're in France, you will be using a different AC adaptor from the one that came with the Z.  I am in the same situation as you.  I have read that it is important that this adaptor is not capable of delivering MORE than ONE AMP because this will exceed the recommended battery charging rate.

I have not already try to send sms and I haven't found the way to get sms from the phone ... (I thing this GUI hasn't this fonction ...)
Take a look at the screen-shot I posted : I was sending/reading sms's. Just click on sms (at the bottom of the circle), then activate "sending and receiving sms" in the messages-menu.

Okay I have found the option, I enable it but nothing happend ... maybe the p800 isn't compatible with this feature ...
Moreover I have say that the signal work, it was a mistake, it display always the same value, the batterie level seem's good.

Anyone has a Sony ericsson smartphone to test ?

before I start xgnokii :
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/irda start
When I exit xgnokii :
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/irda stop

YOU ARE A KILLER  yeah that work's with this command line ...
So with the P800 work :
- getting signal and battery
- getting contact (very slow operation, i am in 115000bps)
- dialing
I have not already try to send sms and I haven't found the way to get sms from the phone ... (I thing this GUI hasn't this fonction ...)

About your lib-problem after reboot. Do you make sure to leave all apps before you reboot ? Why do you reboot so often ?

Yes, sure that all software are closed.
I reboot maybe one time per week ... Maybe it's because I was doing this with my palm :$

Quote
There are a few packages with the behaviour you described (broken libs when not shut down properly before a reboot). This can be solved by installing those packages (or just the libs) in "/". (it doesn't seem to happen then).

I will try on the next reboot ...

BTW : it's not bad for your battery to interupt loading or to use during loading, if it's a Lion battery it's even bad to fully charge and fully discharge everytime. (Google)

Right, I always charge pdas or phone at 70% (under the battery become too warm) and all 10 charge I make a complete discharging/ charging cycle.
But when you use your Z who is charging his battery ... the battery give power and receive power at the same time .. are you sure that is recommended ?

Hello !

Duuhhh since I have charge my Z (ok, no relation ...) I have this error message when I launch gnokii :

"error while loading shared libraries : libgnokii.so.2 cannot open shared object file : no such file or directory"

I have try "ipkg-link mount /mnt/card" to recreat link but it doesn't work until I re-install the package. (but at the next reboot, same error)

And when I re-install package it's like the Ir / port is locked :
Ircomm0 stale, overriding ....

What can I do please ? (have try to install it on /mnt/card and /user)
Have a nive day

Edit : I don't understand ... The Ir port seems blocked because it boucle with the message "transmitter busy" ... I have found /var/lock/ircomm0 var who seem's to lock the port, delete it but problem still ...

xgnokii should be included.
I didn't include a menu-entry or .desktop-file, shame on me.
From command line :
Code: [Select]
# xgnokii &Make sure to open irda first, if you are using infrared.

What do you mean by only needing bluez to work, did you manage to get it working with bluetooth ?

Duuhhh I have not try to launch it   .. but now the Z is charging so i don't disturb it (I think isn't good for the charge ...)

To open IRDA first ? how to do that ? With gnokki I only change IRDA to the setting and it works, i launch a command, that open the irda port and close it a the end automatically.

I use it by irda ... but at the launch it say : "missing shared librairie libluetooth.so" je crois ... j'ai donc installé bluez-lib.ipk et cela a resolut le probleme. LOOOOL   excuse me, I repeat
I use it by irda ... but at the launch it say : "missing shared librairie libluetooth.so" so I install the package bluez-lib.ipk and after that it work fine. I haven't a BT card so I can't try BT connection.

I've got gnokii and xgnokii 0.6.9 running.

Chero, you gnokii package work , you only need bluez to work ..
But can you post xgnokii ?

I try to use it with a sony ericsson p800 but no success ... only dial works ... maybe it doesn't use AT command   ( I have try gnokii and gammu .. is it another soft that I haven't try ?)

So i think that nobody has a solution for my previous post ...
I have seen on http://xfce-goodies.berlios.de/ that it's 2 new module that can be usefull :
xfce4-modem-lights
xfce4-quicklauncher-plugin
Nobody has re-compiled them ?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=107488\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

No, I don't know the answer to your previous post. If it's on the xfce-website you can use only 10, I don't think there's a workaround.

About the plugins :
If you like, I could add them. Just wait for a day or 10. If you can't wait, you can install the xfce4 and xfce4-dev packages from the contributed feed and try to compile the plugins.

Keep us informed.
Chero.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=107489\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I can wait 1 or 10 days ...
I just discover Linux so starting compiling sometimes is too hard for the moment i think ...
