Hi all,

I am trying to get the USB drivers installed on my WinXP system and it doesn't like the drivers from the C1000 CD.
I know I have done this before with my old laptop but I am reinstalling it on my new one but no go. The only diff on the Z side is that I am now running pdaXrom 1.1.0r121.
Is there a new process or drivers needed cause of the new rom?

If there are means of upgrading using linux... I would say 90% of a chance it of working using pdaxrom... now I dont know how you go about doing it... I've never upgrading any firmware using linux... only a 56k modem to  v.92 card back in windows 98 days.. :-)...

thanks for your help. I will continue to figure this one out. I am really looking to get this card working on 1.1.0r121 then getting WPA working.
Although I am trying to fix the keyboard mapping and getting the drivers installed on my XP system which doesn't like the drivers for some reason.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Upgrading Old Ambicom Card

Hi all,

I have an old Ambicom card which is running 1.34 and I'd like to upgrade it to at 1.82.
I am running PdXrom 1.1.0.121 on a C1000.
I would like to get it connected to my WPA network.
I have found info on upgrading my card but the info doesn't go as far back as the version that it on my card. I just want to make sure that I can even upgrade it that much, or if there is something special that I have to do.

ok... with the spectrum wifi card... it registers as eth0...
so try this...

Oh and note... you don't need to run both scripts only 1 or the other... in this case run the one I have above...

After that runs when ifconfig should show you your ip! Surf away!

With this script and the firmware update posted earlier. I now have my c1000 online.
Great news!!..

I do have one question though, what the command for it to find "any" wireless AP, not just the ones where I know the essid.

Hi All,
I installed 121 with no issues on C1000.
The main thing for me at this point is the wireless config is grey'd out.
I noticed that the hostap drives are not installed.

Is something else being used for the wireless config?
Anyone have any luck getting it working?

Hi, I have the same issue for both cards. Just flashes.
I'll try this fix however when I read the notes it's all for beta 1, 2 and 3 but nothing about 4.

I know that I got my Symbol card working in beta4, but I can't seem to find my installation log for that step of the process.  Anyway, I think the following threads might be helpful for beta4:

Also, there was some issue with beta4 regarding the names you could use for the profiles if you use the Lan & Wifi utility.  The profiles had to be named after the interface you were using, otherwise they wouldn't work.  I used eth0 as the name for my WiFi profile because I was having some problem with even wlan0, which should work according to the following post:

Thanks for your help on this.
I have found one of these before and tried it with no luck.
I rebooted the system and now I have no light at all on the symbol card and a solid light on the ambicom card. However ifconfig shows only lo.
So it's not even starting the card at all.
Very stranage as Others with a C1000 and one of these cards have it working with no issues.
Anyway, I was thinking that it may be the firmware version on the cards.
I am going to try to force the card up etc but I doubt it will work.

Any news on beta 5? hahah

I made the jump to Beta4 and now I can't get my wifi working. Just a flashing light.
Anyway, I am going to try to find a way to get back to 2.4 and install Beta3 after I give the card one more shot before I take the trip back.

Which card are you trying to use?  You list two in your sig, and I know that I managed to get my Symbol working under beta4.  You could try looking at the following thread:

I don't know about the Ambicom.

This site is great. I wish I had this when I got started 6 months ago.
I made the jump to Beta4 and now I can't get my wifi working. Just a flashing light.
Anyway, I am going to try to find a way to get back to 2.4 and install Beta3 after I give the card one more shot before I take the trip back.

when I do I will follow this site and get up and running quickly.

Symbol Spectrum24 CF card will work in beta4... it just required the firmware to be placed in the correct place...

Thanks, I now get the flashing light on the symbol card too, but still no connectivity.
It is now working the same as my ambicom card..
Just a flashing light.
dmesg has several entrys with eth0 which all look good.
second last one says "ready"
Firmware on the card comes up as 3.91-71
Not sure if this helps.

Hi all,

I just installed Beta 4, which went perfectly well, no issues.
I have an Ambicom 802.11b card which is recognized by the system and comes up as:
WL1100C 302.11B CF-Card 2.2

The card light flashed on and off as if it is searching, just like it did with other roms.
It doesn't link to any network. I have tried 3 different networks and nothing.
2 of them are open networks and one is wep.

I ran dmesg and I get the following when I insert the card.

when I run ifconfig it only brings up lo, there is not other listings

I also have a symbol card but that doesn't even light up with beta4 so that is why I am trying to get this one working.

Once I get this working I want to get it attached to my WAP network but that is for another day.

I am looking for a different browser for pdaXrom. I can't stand the one it comes with, no frames or java.
I need one that supports both of these.

Any suggestions and where to do I get it?

Now that I have installed the atd nothing works and I don't get any errors on the console.
I am about to un-install everything and start from scratch.
Should I be using a different atd as I don't see one on the contrib site.

for some reason everything is working well now. I didn't do anything it's like it just needed to have those 2 reinstalled a few times.
I have installed the atd now so I can start to play with that.

Hi,

I have removed the older file and the apps started up.
I have noticed though that when I shutdown and restart the system I have tp un-install the libschedule or sqlite and reinstall it to get at least one of the the apps  going again, most of the time.
