You can find all you want to know about OZ in http://openzaurus.org.

Specifically for installing OZ on collie, go to http://wiki.openzaurus.org/Collie/Install

Good Luck,

Software / Help Needed With Snes9x On C1000

Just wanted to see if anyone has made any headway with this.  I reported the bug and discussed exactly what I think the problem is (for some reason the presence of this XFree86-DGA library is not being reported to the X server), but so far no response.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I have exactly the same problem with Snes9x, is there any solution? I didn't find the bug in [a href=\"http://bugs.linuxtogo.org/]GPE bug trucker[/url] and in OE Bug trucker. Can anyone give me a hint where it hides?

Looking for advice as to how to get snes9x and dgen-sdl running!
I had no problem starting dgen-sdl, other than it runs really slow...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Switching From Cacko
« on: February 13, 2007, 10:59:03 am »
I don't know anything about moving from cacko to OZ, since i've been with OPIE-OZ all my life. But, regarding the video, I use mplayer to watch videos without any problem.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / View Z Hd Via Usb From An Xp Machine
« on: September 30, 2006, 05:50:49 pm »
I had a little success with my boxer as usb drive... I guess you should do somthing like:

# modprobe g_file_storage file=/dev/hda1

this mounts my CF card, I couldn't get my SD (/dev/mmcblk0p1) to work this way

to stop the module write:

# modprobe g_file_storage -r

though I must say that using usb networking combined with samba worked much better for me.

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Native Development
« on: August 29, 2006, 01:07:54 pm »
Hi,
I've seen hrw's message that native development should work.
So I went and installed:
gcc
binutils
and libc6-dev.
and compiled helloWorld.c with out a problem (and it even runs!)
Code: [Select]
#include

int main(void)
{
     printf("Hello World!\n");
     return 0;
}

Now I wish to compile some apps for opie (with gui and everything...) the question is:
is it possible?
and if it is:
how?

Thanx,
YoG.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Mplayer + Oz 3.5.4.1 On Spitz?

I found a thread (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=20473) explaining how to fix it up for fbdev playing on a C860. However, the problem is that I cannot control mplayer - no stopping, skipping forward or backward. Makes it not really usable even if I manage to view it correctly full screen.

The error spit out from SDL (inside mplayer) is something in the lines of:
Can't detect machine defaulting to SL5000D detected machine is 'Sharp SL-5000D'
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I'm not sure if this will help but if you are using the script from [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=20473]that[/url] thread try changing:
Code: [Select]
fbset -n -xres 200 -yres 320;
to
Code: [Select]
fbset -n -xres 320 -yres 240;
and
Code: [Select]
mplayer -flip -vf mirror -ac mad -ao oss -framedrop -really-quiet $@;
to
Code: [Select]
mplayer -flip -vf mirror,expand=320:240,crop=320:240 -framedrop -really-quiet $@;

When I use fbdev I can't control mplayer too, I use the default vo (I guess its SDL).

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Usb Networking Under Windows
« on: August 13, 2006, 12:16:12 pm »
1) Try connecting to another USB port, My Z seems to be a little picky when it comes to the usb port.
2) try restarting the g_ether module:
# modprobe g_ether -r

followed by,
# modprobe g_ether
#ifup usb0

btw, it would be helpful if you mention what ROM and Z model you are using.

- kopi-alarms didn't wake up my zaurus from suspend (it worked with pdaxrom)

I had the same problem if the clam-shell was closed (don't know if it qualifies as bug). But appearently, if the suspend "on closing hing" (see Light&Power on the opie setting-tab) is enabled - the z won't wake up on opie-alarm. To overcome this problem I selected the "display off" "on closing hinge".

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Full Screen Mplayer
« on: July 13, 2006, 02:36:09 am »

Hi!!
I' m trying to watch a 320x240 mpg on my zaurus sl-5500 (Hentges) using mplayer from the shell. If I play the file whitot any option (no -fs or -vf rotate=...) I see a streched video in portraid mode. Previosly rotating the screen in opie makes no diference (in gpe was enough). Reading the mplayer man page I tried to use the "-vf rotate=2" option, these one rotates the image but itr crops it. The option "-fs" (full screen)  makes no diference. Any sugestion?

Thanks
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=134895\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I use the following script:
Code: [Select]
#! /bin/sh
### disable screen saver and suspend,
qcop QPE/System 'setScreenSaverMode(int)' 2
qcop QPE/System 'setScreenSaverIntervals(int,int,int)' 0 0 0

### set screen mode to 200x320,
fbset -n -xres 200 -yres 320;

### run mplayer,
mplayer -flip -vf mirror -ac mad -ao oss -framedrop -really-quiet $@;

### set resolution back to 640x480,
fbset -n -xres 640 -yres 480;

### enable screen saver and suspend,
qcop QPE/System 'setScreenSaverIntervals(int,int,int)' -1 -1 -1
qcop QPE/System 'setScreenSaverMode(int)' 100

### refresh screen,
qcop "QPE/System" "applyStyle()";

on my c860, this works great.
Maybe, with the new release using alsa the -ac mad -ao oss should changed somehow.
