Cosmo Communicator - Android / Is the LEDison useful to Cosmo Communicator owners?

I love the idea, but does it work on the Cosmo?

Has anyone been able to get LEDison to do anything? I see how you can assign certain patterns to specific apps, but so far I've yet to see it do anything.

The Android part (contacts application) is very finicky and only finds certain names based (ready for this?)... Based on capitalization.

Can confirm all of Sath's well-detailed points. In fact, I was just about to post here about the wackadoodle contact search when device is opened. I've seen this complaint in phones other than the Cosmo, so it strikes me as a purely Pie issue.

Agreed this issue seems to be related to Pie, as my Google Pixel has been doing it since an update over 6 months ago, running stock Android. Even when capitalizing just like in my address book, it can be impossible to search for a specific contact. I usually just scroll all the way down and choose from the list, it's more predictable that way. Quite frustrating, though.

D. Airmail appears to authenticate email account info in plain text, which Google blocked due to the reduced security. Google did not notify me and the Airmail error message was not very informative. Took me a bit to figure out that I had to go into Google security and make a change for Google to trust the Airmail app (last item in the Google security page, something about insecure app). The inability for Airmail to connect to gmail straightaway may confuse some Cosmo users who wish to use the Airmail app.

Seriously, plain text authentication?? I haven't used the Airmail app, but a quick glance through the settings doesn't reveal any security level options.
Does anyone else have a comment on this item? If that's really true, nobody should use the Airmail app, for anything. Ever.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Media players in Cover Display

As mentioned above, it sounded like PC programmed in support for a handful of media apps they thought would be popular, although  I really wish they'd embrace an open standard for the CODI media display...

Seems like smart watches etc. can communicate with Android from the factory with any app that support notifications, while the CODI only has limited support.

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Launchers... From Worst to Best

[size=]I used and liked the paid for "pro" version of Nova Launcher in my Gemini.

However, now I find it less than optimal on my Cosmo, such that I have reluctantly UNinstalled it.[/size]

What didn't you like about it?

Are there any Cosmo-specific problems with it?

+1 on this querry... @Ifanafi what issues did you have with Nova on the Cosmo?

I've used Nova on my Pixel for the last 2.5 years, and been very happy with it. Basically just an alternate launcher to get rid of Android Pie's non-removable search bar, and it has a few additional config options.

Installed it immediately when I received my Cosmo earlier this week, so far I've run it for 48 hours with no perceptible issues. Portrait or landscape, both seem to work pretty well.
I haven't changed the default PC background yet--honestly kinda like the starscape theme, but maybe there are issues with other backgrounds?

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Cosmo Communicator running on Google Fi

Just got my Cosmo yesterday, super excited to upgrade from my old, failing original Pixel.

Had a few things set up in my Cosmo last night, then finally shut it down and installed the SIM from my Pixel. When it booted up, it told me I needed to install the FI app, so I agreed and went through the activation process. Seemed like it got most of the way done, but got to a point where there was an error ID:080. Called tech support, got same story, the Cosmo is just not supported. Retried the Fi registration several times, but it never succeeded.

After that I did a factory reset, rebooted, but this time did not agree to install the FI app. Shortly after I got a Cosmo notification that I needed to configure the SIM card. I only have the one, so SIM 1 for voice, SIM 1 for data. It seemed to be hit or miss after that, sent a couple texts, received a couple texts (although one had some weird gibberish at the end). Made a couple test calls, but 2/4 inbound calls went straight to voicemail (one of them may have been when I was rebooting, but one was definitely when I was sitting there waiting for the incoming call).

After the above test where I had used the Cosmo settings to configure the SIM card, I installed the Fi app again, and this time it registered with no an errors. Now the Fi app is installed, I got the two voicemails form the missed calls. I still have some testing to do, have to make sure both inbound and outbound texts and calls will still work, but I'm hopefull.

Also, if the pre-installed "Messaging" app (green icon) doesn't work with Fi, I will try installing the "Messages" app from Google LLC (blue icon) that I've been using on my Pixel. Seems like it may have better compatibility with Fi. @Grench did you happen to try this method for sending texts with the Fi app installed?
