I have Billionton cf gps card, which worked just out of the box when using
OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1, cat /dev/ttyS3 and it started sptting NMEA codes to screen.

Has anyone managed to get this working in pdaXii13? I tried googling, but I'm not

Well, if anyone is interested, I got it working by copying the serial_cs module from
Cacko (same kernel version). After loading that and changing ttyS3 speed to 4800
and starting gpsd, I get readings from telnet port 2947 which was my goal.
(cat /dev/ttyS3 does not work, but that is not an issue.)

Only minor thing is that I have to load serial_cs by hand, ie. it does not load when
the gps card is plugged in. I'll try to figure that out if I find time.

My Billionton CF GPS card works in Cacko 1.23, but I can't find gpsd or qpegs (or any other
gps programs) from feed.

Where to get those?

Hard case, OpenZaurus: gps-receiver and gpsd do work, qpegps not with gpsd

pdaXii13, no response from Billionton gps

In OpenBox panel it is Serial or Modem.

I could not find pwmanager for pdaXii13, otherwise it was ok.

Search the pdaX-forum for "kdepimpi_2.2.7_armv5tel.ipk". It is attached in some thread. This ipk includes kopi, kapi, pwmpi and more.

Hey, thanks _A LOT_ Chero! Now I remember some rom I've tried had those three
also in same package, but OpenZaurus I've been using lately had each in their own ipkgs.

Software / Which Rom?

I need kopi, kapi and pwmanager (my destkop pc has KDE, and I want to sync easily).

I also want a working gps program. I prefer Opie, but that is not necessity. And
all from feeds, I'm not a developer.

I've used OpenZaurus/Opie, fullfills first three, but only gps program I could run decently,
was roadmap, but without maps, as I live in Europe. Gpsd and qpegps are in OZ feed,
but don't work together (searched forums and tested myself several days).

I could not find pwmanager for pdaXii13, otherwise it was ok.

I hope my demands are not impossible. There are plenty of nice roms, but these are
what I need to do with my SL-C3100. And of course websurfing, music playing, etc,
but those are in every rom.

Any help appreciated.

I had pdaXii13 installed, and decided to try Cacko. I had problems getting pdaXii13 removed.
I should have gone to sleep hours earlier, but I came to Trisoft pages, and somehow
came to conclusion that NAND is corrupted(!), and downloaded Trisoft's NAND backup
for my SL-C3100. Didn't help either, but the key was to repartition hard drive to its original state.

Well, after reading the good install instructions (thanks meanie!) I now have working
pdaXii13 on my Zaurus.  

Still, would be nice to know, why I was unable to install OZ, allthough now it is a curiosity.
Maybe needed workging rom installed, I guess?

I had pdaXii13 installed, and decided to try Cacko. I had problems getting pdaXii13 removed.
I should have gone to sleep hours earlier, but I came to Trisoft pages, and somehow
came to conclusion that NAND is corrupted(!), and downloaded Trisoft's NAND backup
for my SL-C3100. Didn't help either, but the key was to repartition hard drive to its original state.

So now I was able to install Cacko. I resized NAND size to 32 M, as the installer suggested.
Cacko worked fine, but I wanted back pdaXii13. Installation went ok, but after reboot,
kernel reports 'Unknown flash (not normal NAND)', also /dev/dsp is not accesible, after
that X starts in wrong orientation and touch screen does not work.

I found conics had also NAND backups, and downloaded original japanese NAND for SL-C3100.
Same result, or when installing kernel and bootloader in pdaXii13's installer, I got messages
'unable to open /mnt/root/usr/bin, /mnt/root/usr/bin/diff no such file or directory'. Rest of
the (long, full version) went ok, but Zaurus won't boot. Not so big surprise without bootloader.

I need my little beast in a few days, so I thought I can survive with OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1,
has been working for me for a long time.  But installer stops right at start:
'----- Zaurus CF updater ----
MODEL:SL-3100
ERROR: Invalid model!
Please reset!'

So either backup NAND (conics or Trisoft) wont'd do the trick, I've also tried to resize
flash NAND to 121 and 64 M using Cacko installer, thought that wrong size could cause mismatch, didn't help. And of course I did not take my own NAND backup before messing
things up. At this point you propably have noticed that a newbie had gone to far, I totally agree  

I' tried Ångström, and it installs every time, but too beta for my needs.

I know I've messed things up badly, could someone give me a hint please!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.4.1 Gpsd Workin Qpegps Not

Both are from feed, gpsd_2.28-r0 and qpegps_0.9.2.3-r0. Billionton CF-gps card and gpsd work fine, I can see NMEA codes through telnet. I've read several threads, and seems that this is common issue, but I really can't get qpegps to work with gpsd. Any hints?

Linux Issues / Is It Possible To Sync A C3100?

I have my C3100 with the original sharp rom, is it possible to sync the sharp PIM apps with linux?  If not, can I sync the kde PIM apps?  I also lost the download location of the kde PIM apps.  I'll google for them and try to find them.

I have not used sharp rom PIM programs, but syncing KAPI & KOPI with Kaddressbook
and Korganizer is quite simple. Follow for example [a href=\"http://pi-sync.net/html/sync_howto.html]Sync HowTo[/url]

I use usbnet and irda. Basic idea is to copy std.ics for calendar and std.vcf for addressbook
using passwordless scp.

it seems to be a good deal. Would you like to verify whether it works on Cxx00? I previous found that some compatible batteries won't work on Cxx00 because of slightly different organization.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Kde Multisynk Crash With Opie

running opie 1.2.1 with OZ 3.5.4.1-alpha2 on SL-C3200. Trying to sync with KDE Kontact v1.2 (KDE 3.5.2 kubuntu-dapper).

I setup the opie-kontact link as described in the docs, and I click sync in Kontact there's some action: I get a very, very quick flash of "kitchensync" on the Z, then it's gone and Kontact is hung.

I just use passwordless ssh/scp and works well from KO/Pi and Ka/Pi's synchronize menu.

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Trouble Finding Microdrive On Oz/opie

I am a new zaurus user. I just received my new zaurus and installed openzaurus 3.5.4.1 (Spitz) on it. Now I cannot seem to see the internal microdrive. Can anyone help me locate the 4Gb hard disk.

Hello! I had similar problem, OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1a2, Borzoi. I couldn't locate that 4 GB my Zaurus should have on its hd.

Fdisk output:

Disk /dev/hda: 4095 MB, 4095737856 bytes
16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 7936 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes

   Device Boot    Start       End    Blocks   Id  System

Last lines from /etc/fstab:

hda3 is mounted as vfat, althoug Id 83 means ext2/ext3. df and du didn't see /media/hdd.
I tried to scp a 100 MB file to it, if was filled when about 80 MB was transferred.
Solution I could think of:

In console/terminal:

mkfs.ext3 /dev/hda3

Edit /etc/fstab -line (using vi, or editor you like)
/dev/hda3         /media/hdd     vfat     defaults  0  0
to
/dev/hda3        /media/hdd      ext3    defaults  0  0

mount -a (or reboot)

and /media/hdd is now 3752816 1k-blocks.

Sounds like the infamous Fn+Shift = dead keyboard bug

I was no aware of that bug, but those problematic Ä an Ö are Fn+Shift+a and FN+Shift+o.

Hmm, I thought the problem was solved, but only partially. With keymap-extension all
characters, including those mentioned in extension, work perfectly in terminal.
In Opie, small ä and ö work right, but after first Ä or Ö , no other key
than those two works, so I can write only something like "ÄÄÖÄÄÖÖÖ"
