Rox-filer + Shared-mime-type
« on: June 11, 2005, 11:00:10 pm »
I searched for rox on the forums first, but didn't find a lot of info on the file manager aspect of it.  I have rox-filer and shared-mime-types installed, so when I click on a .doc file it opens up AbiWord, when I click on a .pdf it opens xpdf, but when I click on a .xls it gives an error instead of opening gnumeric.

"No run action specified for files of this type (application/vnd.ms-excel) - you can set a run action by choosing 'Set Run Action' from the File menu, or you can just drag the file to an application"

Um, there's no menu at the top of the rox window.  If I right click on the file a menu pops up "Customize" for where to send files in the filesystem, but no File menu.  What could I be missing here?  I have rox and rox-lib installed on my Z 860 running RC 10.

right click on the file you want to open
in the menu File 'YourFilename' you have an option "Set Run Action"
in this option you can drop an application to opent this file, or specify the shell command. in the shell command, you just have to write gnumeric "$@"

press use command and that's it

As I stated in my original post, when I right click on the file the only menu option that comes up is "Customize" where apparently I can customize where I want to send documents like Windows Send-To menu option.

I've used Rox on the desktop and I know of this menu that you speak of, but for some reason on the Zaurus I don't have this menu.
