Can't Move Files
« on: January 21, 2005, 08:11:23 am »
My 3000 keeps telling me I 'don't have permission' every time I try to move files from one folder to another. Any ideas? Is it something simple and I'm an idiot?

how are you trying to move these files?  If it is commandline, then "su - " will switch the user to be root.  If you are using a gui filemanager then tap and hold the icon until you get the option to "run as root".  Be careful because now you can remove things on a whim and linux is not forgiving (no trash can).
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

TkcExplorer has a "trash can". It is quite handy. Well worth the 14.95 it costs.

Cheers Blue and Doug - that's sorted it. A trashcan might also be a good idea. Now if I can just get XP to recognise this damn USB driver...
A weekend of fun ahead.
