Willing To Pay For Mods.
« on: March 11, 2005, 02:55:47 pm »
I'm getting frustrated with trying to reconcile all the conflicting development information posted on the Wiki and in these forums.

I'm trying to get my 6000L working with my USB DeLorme Earthmate.

Here is a link to a page where someone was able to get the Earthmate running with Linux.  The problem is the USB; the Earthmate is recognized as a HID device when it shouldn't be.

Here is a link to a page with kernel patches to fix it.

Here is another link:

I will Paypal $50 to the first person to do the following:

- Get libusb >=0.1.8 installed for me on my Zaurus
- Compile a new kernel with the patches to fix the problem
- Deliver the sources to me and help me fix my compile environment so I can compile them myself.

With a patched kernel, any GPS program should work.  I have already successfully crosscompiled the Qtopia example program, and compiled and installed my own custom kernel, so I am not an utter novice.  The kernel patches provided in the links above do not match up with my kernel sources, though, so I need more help from someone who is better at programming than I.

I attempted to install the kernel patches, but many of the hunks failed.  I attempted to patch by hand, and was able to get about 80% done before I ran into code that didn't match the kernel sources I had, so I gave up in frustration.

I need help, and my several posts asking for that help have gone unheeded.  I guess people need more motivation, so I will appeal to your mercenary nature.
